Crisol: Theater of Idols doesn’t try to reinvent horror, nor does it bring anything new that seasoned horror fans have not seen. However, the setting is unique, it presents an inventive story, and has some fun scares along the way.

There is a lot of heart, here, and I have to reward not only the effort and passion, but the totality of the amazing experience. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound takes a slight step away from the original trilogy, but it’s a stealthy ninja step in the perfect direction.

While the combat, mixed with its forging mechanics, are a system worthy of exploration, a bland story, infuriating exploration, and a gargantuan length made the fire in this blade ultimately fizzle.

Post Trauma succeeds in crafting a world that feels oppressive, broken, and painfully human. It stumbles with its combat and some narrative clarity, but its emotional core, the exploration of guilt, forgiveness, and the fight for redemption, is solid. It excels at the puzzles and world building, and that was enough for me to thoroughly enjoy my entire time with Post Trauma.

This game lived and died for me by its fun element. It is a fun game. But it’s fun in the way that it’s a good game to pick up when you have a spare hour or two. It’s not fun in the way that I want to grind it for several hours on end, especially not even knowing if it would make a difference. I’m sure there’s more game locked behind resurrecting Koko. I even glimpsed references to what all might be hiding there while I was trying to find out how to resurrect Koko. But even that wasn’t enough to make me want to tackle the fishing expedition of finding out how that works. I enjoyed more of my time with this game than I didn’t. But that just wasn’t enough to get me any further.

One of the most enduring testaments of a powerful video game is turning off your console and enacting real change in the world. Just like how having a child can make you a completely different person and value what you once took for granted, Neva‘s everlasting message of compassion in the face of adversity is a legacy worth fighting for.

Anyone who enjoys classic point-and-click adventure games will love An English Haunting. It’s a short (five hours or so) adventure with an epic and worthwhile conclusion. It is well written, crafted, and historically interesting at the same time. An English Haunting is obviously a labor of love for the developer, and you can see that in every aspect of the game.

Call of the Sea takes the player on a journey of self discovery that I think everybody should experience.
