Mika and The Witch’s Mountain is basically Kiki’s Delivery Service if it was a game. It captures all the charm and coziness of a Miyazaki film, paired with its simple but equally relaxing gameplay. Sure, it has some bugs and could use a few improvements, but despite that, it's a Ghibli fan’s dream come true.

Con su combinación de un encantador estilo visual, una jugabilidad simple pero efectiva, y personajes entrañables, este juego logra lo que muchos buscan: una experiencia que te hace sentir bien. Es el juego perfecto para esos días en los que solo quieres relajarte y disfrutar de una historia ligera y un mundo acogedor.

Aunque breve, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain es una aventura que deja una marca duradera en el corazón del jugador. Chibig ha logrado, una vez más, crear un mundo que invita a ser explorado, con personajes entrañables y una jugabilidad que, aunque sencilla, es profundamente satisfactoria. Es un título que evoca nostalgia y familiaridad, especialmente para los seguidores de los anteriores juegos de Chibig, pero que también es accesible y atractivo para los nuevos jugadores.

Mika and The Witch\'s Mountain es un juego que encantará a todo ese público que disfruta de los juegos ‘cozy’, pero a la vez ofrece nuevas experiencias que se escapan de lo habitual en este tipo de juegos. Si bien no podemos catalogar al título de ser corto si quieres alcanzar el 100%, sí que se echa en falta algo más de duración para redondear la experiencia.

Como diría la protagonista: «OLEEEEE!» Mika and the Witch’s Mountain está lleno de metáforas, de historias profundas contadas de forma magistral en cuestión de un par de frases, de lecciones de vida y de consejos. Sus personajes, sus problemas o sus historias te harán introducirte de lleno en el Chibigverso e incluso replantearte ciertos comportamientos en tu vida real. Si de algo peca este juego además de ser adorable y precioso, es precisamente de esconder unas metáforas profundas y apasionantes. 

En la presentación oficial, preguntamos a Chibig si tenían planes de futuro a la hora de sacar más cositas, pero no nos contaron nada… Eso sí, la sonrisa que nos regalaron los chicos fue un sí rotundo. Nos contaron que técnicamente ya tienen contenido nuevo planificado para el juego y que “habrá más sorpresas”. ¿Nuevo juego? ¿DLC? ¿Versiones físicas? ¡No podemos aguantar la espera! Lo que sí nos ha quedado muy claro tras jugar a Mika and the Witch’s Mountain es que la diversión no se encuentra en la meta, sino en todo el camino que recorres. Un camino que debes recorrer por ti mismo.

Este título del estudio Chibig es todo un acierto gracias a su planteamiento relajante y placentero, donde cobran gran importancia las historias secundarias de las personas que habitan el Monte Gaun, pero la historia principal podría tener más importancia su hubiera explotado más el transfondo que quiere contar, además es muy corta, y puede que nos quedemos faltos de contenidos al terminarla. Volar es muy gratificante, y a nivel jugable está muy pulido, pero deja con ganas de más.

Mika and the Witch's Mountain amuses and charms [us] with its simplicity and cozy atmosphere. The soft narrative, along with an adorable protagonist, makes the experience ideal for those moments we look for a bit of fun and relaxation.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a cute and captivating game, though it could do with a little refining. Fly your days away delivering packages, boxes, and bags while fixing up your broom, and get back to your witch training.

The best way to describe Mika is cosy, there are no enemies to fight, no strategies to learn and no time to beat…. unless you are delivering ice cream but outside of deliveries and finding hidden collectibles there isn’t much else to do in the few hours you’ll be playing the main story, maybe some time trials or races could have been included. But at the end of the day what is on offer is a short, sweet but overall charming little story.

Mika and the Witch's Mountain è un piacevole e delicato racconto su una piccola streghetta che insegue il suo sogno e delle difficoltà che dovrà superare per farcela. Un titolo leggero e sognante, graziato da una direzione artistica toccante tanto nell'estetica quanto nella colonna sonora. Il coraggio di creare un titolo senza risvolti action bensì ancorato unicamente ad un gameplay loop semplice e rilassante non può essere sottovalutato. Tuttavia, le particolarità della produzione ne rappresentano al contempo i suoi stessi limiti, a causa di problemi di pacing (e di controlli) che potrebbero compromettere l'engagement del pubblico. Dedicato ai più giovani nonché a chi ha voglia di rilassarsi senza pensare troppo a meccaniche ludiche complesse e difficoltà proibitive.

It is a good family game, very fun and which puts forward important values ​​of our society. It is perfect for a child who begins his adventure with video games. There is a lot of dialogue between the characters which will give the impression that it is a children's story.

Mika and the Witch's Mountain is a fun escape into the life of a bubbly little girl who wants to become a witch but who makes new friends and has unexpected adventures along the way. It may be short but it's certainly worth playing if it's your kind of game.

It was clearly influenced by Studio Ghibli and Kiki’s Delivery Service, and it’s solid enough that you can see that influence come shining through, but at the end of the day, all the game really has to say is, “Hey, remember Kiki’s Delivery Service? Yeah, that was pretty cool.”

A delivery service game lacking magic

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain bezaubert mit einer Mischung aus Magie, Abenteuer und liebevollen Charakteren. Als Hexe Mika müsst ihr mit eurem Besen Lieferaufträge auf einer netten Insel ausführen, um euch Geld für Besenupgrade zu verdienen. Diese benötigt ihr, um auf den Hexenberg zu gelangen. Lange werdet ihr dafür nicht brauchen, da die Spielzeit mit ca. 5 Stunden sehr kurz ist. Der Titel besticht mit einer liebevollen Optik, wobei das Gameplay - vor allem der Besenflug - teils etwas schwammig wirkt. Ein Titel, bei dem der magische Funke überspringt, aber ob er das Feuer zum Lodern bringt, muss jeder selber für sich herausfinden.

While there are a few side jobs and collectibles to track down, Mika and the Witch's Mountain is a shockingly short experience that unfortunately fails to really lean into its premise in any memorable way. Its inspirations are clear as day, but doesn't have enough time to really allow its story or its characters to feel even remotely engaging. While it is painful to see a game turn out bad, it's another thing altogether to see a game completely fail to live up to its potential.

Mika and the Witch's Mountain is a cozy, comforting little adventure. It benefits from an interesting premise, breezy mechanics, some fanciful tunes, and a rewarding gameplay loop that pushes you forward. Its biggest problem is that it feels unfinished; the story and character relationships don't have enough time to mature, and the mechanics don't have sufficient room to evolve.

When everything comes together, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is definitely far from the worst witch – the premise is pleasant, the visuals and art are cute, and short runtime means there’s no fat that needs trimming. But it’s almost completely unmemorable at every turn. Delivering parcels as a witch should be fun, but lacklustre characters and too much back-and-forth make this delivery service simply adequate.

Sin duda, lo recomiendo. Únicamente y como suelo apuntar, es importante saber a lo que vas. El juego es corto, me ha durado un total de 8 horas completarlo casi del todo, y como he dicho, siento que el tema de las colisiones puede frustrar sobre todo al principio. Quitando eso, el juego es fluido, agradable, los personajes caen bien y tiene bastante corazón, por lo que sentirás esa pequeña alegría y confort mientras lo juegas, dejando un muy buen sabor de boca tras los créditos.

At times, I found controlling the broomstick a bit frustrating, and this did impact on my overall enjoyment. However, the scenery is great, with bright colours and a diverse landscape, and the ability to see all of this from the air enhances the experience.

Mika es un juego que no decepciona, con un gameplay la mar de satisfactorio y con un arte que llena el alma. Si tuviese que poner una pega sería la duración actual de la propuesta, y no porque lo critique como rasgo, sino porque me ha encantado tanto que me da pena haber tenido que decirle adiós tan pronto.
