But I truly think that everyone should play Neva at some point; it's hard to imagine someone not feeling profound emotion from this trim but unforgettable release, which now sits comfortably on the short list of video games that have brought tears to my eyes. If it has captured your attention in any way, then it's safe to say that it's worth your time. It's certainly worth far more than the $20 Devolver Digital and Nomada Studios are asking for it.

Une magnifique surprise qui n’en est pas vraiment une, quand on a déjà eu la chance de pouvoir découvrir le somptueux Gris.

Regardless, Neva is a true work of art with a combat system that is deep enough for what this journey needs from Alba and her incredible companion. Its puzzles are brief enough that I don’t find them consuming too much of my time, allowing me to move on and find a pace that works for me. Neva may not break as much ground as Gris, but Nomada Studios has nonetheless crafted a stunning adventure and yet another masterpiece to enjoy.

It is just the right length. The developers have improved and expanded the already sensational principle of their first game, “Gris”, in key areas. In short: “Neva” is a must-play.

Tatsächlich habe ich überlegt, ob Neva nicht hätte mehr sein müssen, um dem Motto „Gris mit Action“ gerecht zu werden. Ein großes Metroidvania ist es schließlich nicht, obwohl es das von der Anlage und den Mechaniken her sein könnte. Ein solches Spiel schwebte Conrad Roset aber, wie es scheint, nun mal nicht vor. Roset will eine Geschichte erzählen, die ebenso universell wie anrührend ist, und das gelingt ihm mit einer Bravour, die ihresgleichen sucht! In Neva steckt sowohl in spielerischer als auch in visueller Hinsicht ein so kreativer Einfallsreichtum, wie man ihn selten zu Gesicht bekommt. Und den ich deshalb nur mit vollem Nachdruck empfehlen kann.

«Neva» sieht und hört sich phänomenal an. Dazu gesellt sich eine emotionale Geschichte, die auch ganz ohne Dialoge auskommt. Das Gameplay ist nicht revolutionär, aber die Charaktere steuern sich einwandfrei.

Se me hace prácticamente imposible pensar que le sobra algo y todavía más difícil sugerir qué le podría faltar. Su historia ha conectado de forma honesta conmigo y tengo la sensación de que es exactamente lo que el estudio quería que fuera. No se trata de un juego cualquiera ni de una historia cualquiera, me atrevería a decir que se trata de un proyecto único que pertenece a lo que podríamos considerar un nuevo estilo dentro de la industria. El estilo de Nomada Studios.

Lo que más me gusta es poder ver a un estudio independiente, como Nomada Studio, arriesgarse de esta manera, presentando una propuesta diferente y demostrando que hay espacio para otras cosas. Lo hicieron la primera vez con Gris, lo vuelven a lograr de manera magistral con Neva y espero que nos vuelvan a sorprender en el futuro.

Definitivamente, NEVA es un título que tenéis que jugar. No importa si no sois muy de juegos plataformeros o de combates ligeros. Da absolutamente igual. NEVA se quedará viviendo en vuestro corazón eternamente y, estamos convencidos, cada vez que lo recordéis esbozaréis una dulce sonrisa porque, en el fondo, todo habrá merecido la pena.

Neva en Steam Deck se ejecuta de manera excelente. Con la configuración adecuada, es posible disfrutar de una experiencia de juego ideal. Lo recomiendo para todos aquellos jugadores que buscan disfrutar de esta experiencia en cualquier lugar gracias a la consola portátil.

Alba and Neva's journey was the most captivating I've experienced since the boy and Trico in 2016's The Last Guardian. When necessary, the game transitions seamlessly between simple, epic and moving tones. Combat is responsive and challenging in the right measure. It maintains strong and reflective themes such as perseverance, family and the Cycle of Life. And what was most praised in its previous project is once again present with more variety of music, colors and impeccable animation fluidity. An excellent game for fans of the genre.

NEVA nunca se siente repetitivo o aburrido, al revés, sabe hacer giros inesperados para mantenerte atento a cualquier detalle de su historia. Conforme avanzas, también avanza tu vínculo con Neva, aparecen otras habilidades y construyes un viaje lleno de esperanza en un mundo repleto de caos. Los combates son toda una novedad, aunque no es lo más importante, lo que a veces puede parecerte algo demasiado simple o confuso.

Also, as mentioned, the game takes on the airs of Ori and certain metroidvania. I recommend it, even at full price. You can complete the title in just a few hours, or around five to seven hours of play.

In definitiva Neva è un ottimo secondo titolo per Nomada Studio che conferma assolutamente quanto visto di buono in Gris ed è una lettera d’amore alla natura e al rapporto uomo-animale da parte degli sviluppatori spagnoli. Consigliatissimo a chiunque apprezzi le avventure che riescono a coinvolgere il giocatore a livello emotivo semplicemente con la forza di un gameplay semplice ma efficace, un level design ed una regia artistica di ottimo livello e tutto quello che potrebbero trovare in un film d’animazione di Miyazaki o dello studio Ghibli. Per me Neva è assolutamente uno degli indie più belli di questo 2024 e seguirò con molta attenzione il futuro di questa software house di Barcelona che è riuscita a farmi emozionare e piangere due volte su due con le loro prime produzioni.

Ihr werdet durch vier Jahreszeiten hinweg daran erinnert, wie bunt und Vielschichtig das Leben ist und dass es sich gegen die Dunkelheit, was auch immer sie sein mag, zu kämpfen lohnt. Begleitet wird euer Abenteuer durch Neva mit einem orchestrierten Soundtrack, der den richtigen Nerv trifft und eine Stimmung begleitet, die über 3 Stunden nahezu vollständig ohne Worte auskommt.

Si os gustó GRIS, Neva es indispensable, ya que supera netamente a este, y si no lo habéis probado, id directos a por los dos.

In conclusione possiamo dirvi che con una durata di circa 4-5 ore, Neva è una pausa rinfrescante dagli sparatutto, dagli hero shooter, dagli RPG, dai Souls-like e da tutti quei titoli che ci assorbono completamente in decine e decine di ore forsennate che hanno dominato il panorama videoludico di recente. Siamo grati a Nomada Studio per aver continuato a creare queste esperienze incentrate sulla narrazione, opere intime che fanno riflettere ed emozionano senza mancare comunque di gameplay, offrendo una tregua dai giochi competitivi e veloci che riempiono i nostri schermi. Se siete alla ricerca di qualcosa di diverso o semplicemente di una pausa dalla solita routine, Neva vi soddisferà. Il suo combattimento semplice è facile da padroneggiare e la sua storia è una di quelle che non dimenticherete presto. Noi sicuramente non lo faremo. Consigliamo a tutti questo titolo perché è una coccola per il cuore e per l’anima!

Desta forma, Neva acaba se estendendo mais do que precisava. Os momentos de apreciar a beleza de suas paisagens se alternam muito rapidamente com momentos de tentativa e erro, de luta e derrota, o que acaba prejudicando o seu ritmo.

Es indudable que nos encontramos, de la misma manera que ocurre con Gris, delante de una obra de arte videojugable de una calidad excepcional. Técnicamente es impresionante. Ya no solo por lo bien que se ve y lo bien que se juega, sino que el conjunto derivado de juntar narrativa, gráficos, sonido y jugabilidad, está por encima de los mínimos exigidos a cualquier videojuego indie que se precie. Narrativamente es impecable. La manera en la que vamos empatizando con la pequeña loba Neva, al verla crecer y evolucionar, consigue realmente que estemos dentro del videojuego en todo momento. Artísticamente, presenta un estilo marca de la casa absolutamente minimalista, pero que es de lo más bonito que podemos encontrar a día de hoy en nuestras consolas. En ocasiones menos, es más, y este es un claro ejemplo de ello. En contrapunto con el argumento de Gris, centrado en las diferentes etapas del duelo, en Neva nos ponen delante de un proceso de crecimiento basado en un absoluto amor fraternal. Los que somos padres, estamos encantados en como el videojuego, nos ha puesto a los mandos de la experimentación videojugable de la relación cuotidiana que cualquiera de nosotros puede tener con su hijo, o incluso con alguno de sus progenitores. Sin entrar en ningún espolier, y deseando de corazón que podáis experimentar por vosotros mismos las sensaciones que Neva va a ofreceros, podemos asegurar sin ningún tipo de duda, que nos encontramos con uno de los finales más bonitos y emotivos que nuestra cabeza es capaz de recordar. Podréis acceder a él después de dedicarle unas más que suficientes 5 horas. De 6 a 7 para los más completistas.

Malgré une durée de vie très courte, Neva s’impose d’emblée comme un titre vidéoludique culte. Assister à la croissance du sympathique loup qui acquiert de plus en plus de puissance et de pouvoirs surnaturels est vraiment grisant et satisfaisant. De plus, les thèmes abordés sont suffisamment abstraits pour être interprétés différemment selon les types de joueurs. Ainsi, l’essence du titre, au-delà des déclarations d’Adrian Cuevas, auront un écho différent suivant la sensibilité de chacun. Dès lors, les débats philosophiques et les interprétations autour du titre peuvent avoir lieu. Car une fois l’aventure terminée, celle-ci restera marquée au fer rouge dans votre mémoire.

Se non vi è piaciuta l’impalcatura ludica di GRIS, sicuramente Neva vi terrà lontani, anche nonostante un approccio più giocoso della precedente opera dello studio spagnolo. Ma concedetegli comunque una chance, perché vale la pena ascoltare quel dialogo così ermetico da trafiggervi dentro, e allo stesso tempo lottare contro i demoni che ostacolano le nostre esistenze… e ogni nostro rapporto con il prossimo.

Neva es un juego hecho con cariño que no os va a dejar indiferentes y que, sin ninguna duda, tenéis que jugar. Es uno de esos indispensables con voz propia que no puede quedar opacado por el frenético mercado de los videojuegos.

Si algo puedo echar en falta en el título, es quizás una mayor profundidad en el sistema de combate o que sea algo más largo, ya que me habría encantado seguir con la historia de Neva un par de horas más. Aun así, es algo menor comparado con todo lo que este título te puede aportar. Además de dejarnos un mensaje de amistad increíble que te invitamos a desgranar a medida que juegues.

NEVA se presenta ante nosotros como toda una hermosa alegoría sobre la pérdida, pero también sobre el compromiso, la resiliencia, el amor, la amistad, la esperanza y, en definitiva, nuestra búsqueda constante de una identidad propia. Un impactante, y delicioso, cóctel visual en 2D, que se sirve de las plataformas y la acción para aportar profundidad a un viaje tan introspectivo como sensorial.

Al igual que el juego anterior, Neva es una delicia para la vista y un auténtico abrazo al alma. Nomada Studio apuesta esta vez por una historia con pequeñas dosis de acción, y es tan conmovedora como Gris, pero nunca abandona su propio camino. Todo, desde los sonidos del bosque hasta los espadazos de Alba, se siente delicado. Es un mundo rico que no querrás abandonar jamás.

The incredible visuals, moving soundtrack, satisfying gameplay, and surprisingly touching story all come together to make for a game that shouldn’t miss. A few frame drops aside, if you’re looking for a new addition to your library that’ll give you something to savour rather than just consume, look no further than Neva.

These gameplay moments and the parts where every aspect of the experience comes together to work in harmony aren't quite common enough. We wish some mechanics stuck around for longer, but it does keep the experience fresh and consistently exciting, making Neva another hit from the small Barcelona-based studio.

The themes here are painted with a broad brush, but their refusal to get down to specifics doesn’t mean that they don’t still ring true. The game bittersweetly fixates on parenthood, as you watch Neva herself grow and outpace Alba as the seasons pass, and on the destruction of the natural world, which in turn makes it more hostile and violent. And then there’s the connective thread between the two—that even when it feels like everything is falling apart, because sometimes it literally is, the only thing you can do is keep moving.

It must be a challenge to thread inspiration’s needle in a game like this one. Critics and players might point to Neva’s most obvious references as thematic shortcuts, but the game’s personality and careful sense of craft always shined through. I’m tempted to compare Neva to Playdead’s influential duology of Limbo and Inside, even though the tonal qualities remain quite different, primarily for the impeccable quality of its design and richness of its world, dialogue-free as it may be. It's a brief experience overall, but most players should feel compelled to happily join Alba and Neva in starting the seasonal cycle anew, their screenshot key on a hair trigger.

Neva is a stunning game with incredible art and visuals that showcase a Nomada Studio team that's much more refined since it's last game, "Gris." The much-improved gameplay experience on offer in Neva paired with a deeply emotional story that's expressed in the art, the score, and the wonderfully detailed animations hit deep within you, charging you towards the credits until you're weeping while watching them roll. It's more simplistic puzzle-platforming and combat design do leave something to be desired, and a pacing deficiency dampens the mood, but those issues don't stop it from being a must-play game and one of the best indie's in 2024.

Nomada Studio continues their penchant for making gorgeous games that are packed with emotional resonance. Now that they've told game stories about parents and pets, we'll see how they can make us all cry next.

Although the experience is brief–credits roll after about 5-6 hours–the impact of Neva lingers long after, making it a great choice for those looking to get emotionally gut-punched by a visually stunning and mechanically concise platforming adventure game.

Neva is what happens when you let actual artists make a game. That we rarely get works like this is depressing, but there’s no sense that anything in Neva was produced according to what a suit thought would be best for the share value. Yes, Neva lacks in subtlety, but it is nonetheless a beautiful, heartfelt and evocative experience. It makes it clear up front that its goal is to make you cry, and even though you know what it’s doing, you are going to cry on cue at the end of it.

Neva is a profoundly moving, interactive work of art. It’s as pleasing to the eye as it is the ear, and the effort this still young studio has gone to in developing upon ideas cemented in their first game, Gris, is commendable. Without eclipsing it, Neva matches the stirring catharsis of Gris with another flash of brilliance.

Similar to the stylings of anime, ‘Princess Mononoke’, this 2D platformer is an epic adventure of a girl and her wolf. With it, they answer the age-old gamer question… “Can I pat the dog?” The answer is a profound YES.

Con il suo nuovo titolo, lo studio di GRIS non delude affatto le aspettative. La storia di Alba e Neva è raccontata molto bene, con i giusti ritmi, e riesce a toccare le corde dell’anima senza mai cadere in fallo. Aiutata, in questo, da uno stile artistico eccezionale, con pochissimi eguali nell’intero settore, e da un musica che regge bene il confronto con il resto. Da giocare senza ombra di dubbio, ma tenete presente che ha una durata piuttosto breve.

Gli amanti dei puzzle-platformer e dell’arte in generale non possono farsi sfuggire questo piccolo capolavoro che è Neva. Peccato solo, ancora una volta, per la breve durata.

The addition of combat and platform mechanics really enhance the context of urgency, even though its proposal is not focused on being an action game. All of this makes Neva an unmissable title and a true work of art in digital format.

Dans la pure lignée de Gris, le nouveau jeu de Nomada Studio lui est supérieur avec une richesse graphique et de couleurs plus poussée, une intrigue moins vague et des enjeux plus forts. Une oeuvre de composition graphique exceptionnelle qui fait totalement oublier les ridicules défauts du jeu : une exploration encore trop simple et des combats qui manquent parfois de lisibilité.

Il y a six ans, Nomada Studio se faisait un nom avec Gris, un plateformer atypique, qui sortait des sentiers battus et dont les intentions sincères ont permis de constater que même chez les indé, on est capable encore et toujours de se distinguer. Neva reprend cette même idéologie en poussant l'envie encore plus loin. En embrassant complètement cette osmose avec la nature, en s'inspirant sans se cacher des oeuvres de Hayao Miyazaki et des productions du studio Ghibli, les développeurs espagnols de Nomada nous transportent dans un univers absolument envoûtant où chaque moment, chaque écran donne le sentiment de contempler le tableau d'un artiste accompli, celui de Conrad Roset. Avec la crise du COVID, la naissance de son enfant, son rapport a changé et cette évolution dans sa personnalité se ressent aussi dans Neva, un jeu où le besoin de s'entraider, de prendre soin l'un et l'autre se fait ressentir dans ce monde qui se meurt. Rien n'est perdu malgré les apparences, un message optimiste qui va guider le joueur dans une expérience comme nul autre ne nous avait proposé. La plateforme est toujours d'actualité, les énigmes toujours aussi plaisantes, mais on a gagné en férocité et adversité, grâce à ce katana mis dans la main d'Alba, notre héroïne, capable de bien des choses et des mouvements. Ses animations faites à la main subliment, son combat également, tandis que Neva, ce louveteau qui grandit à vue de nez, est un personnage qu'on a, nous aussi, envie de cajoler. Sublime.

I loved the growing companionship between Alba and her cute wolf pal, as they evolved from hesitant adventurers into confident allies. The visuals are simply breathtaking, with a stunning watercolour aesthetic and lovely little details in its animations. On top of that, combat is satisfying and just varied enough as new abilities get added into the mix. Though it may be a relatively short adventure, Neva leaves a lasting impression that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

With a more action-oriented focus, while retaining its emotional depth, Neva is a masterpiece. It's a must-play for anyone seeking a break from the grind of casual gaming, offering both meaningful gameplay and a heartfelt experience.

Neva offre un'esperienza di gioco contenuta (ma ben commisurata al prezzo di vendita all’uscita) che, pur non separandosi dai capisaldi del genere, sfrutta una componente artistica di altissimo livello per raccontare una storia semplice ma capace di lasciare il segno. L'ingegnosità del design dei capitoli e dei singoli riquadri di cui si compone l’avventura approfitta intelligentemente del ritmo elevato con cui questa si svolge di fronte agli occhi del giocatore, senza soffermarsi troppo a reiterare situazioni che, alla lunga, avrebbero fatto emergere i lati più deboli dell’opera. Tanta maestria nel giostrare tempi e modi permette a Neva di dare il meglio di sé in ogni frazione della sua, pur breve, durata.

Emozionante, impegnativo, affascinante. Neva ha tutti i pezzi al posto giusto, eccetto forse una trama un po’ già vista (a tratti anche nello stesso GRIS, anche se con sfumature diverse e interpretazioni multiple) e una durata che ti lascia con la voglia di averne ancora. Ogni frame è un quadro meraviglioso che il gioco ci lascia ammirare con calma nei suoi numerosi momenti contemplativi, o spaventoso in un crescendo di angoscia che porta alle battaglie più concitate. Sono state 4 ore magnifiche.

Dopo Gris, Nomada Studio ci riprova con Neva, un’altra breve esperienza videoludica che ci ricorda il perché i videogiochi siano, in tutto e per tutto, una forma d’arte. Una vera perla per quanto riguarda la direzione artistica, tra paesaggi orientaleggianti e un comparto audio curatissimo, ma anche un titolo dal gameplay semplice e solido, adatto a tutte le età e a tutti i videogiocatori. Difficile non commuoversi e non lasciarsi trascinare. Una manciata di ore di pura poesia.

Le animazioni sono belle e fluide, il team ha voluto creare un gioco con un’impronta più action del precedente. Il ritmo del gioco è ottimo e la narrazione è buona, alterna momenti tesi e di fuga al combattimento acceso contro orde di corrotti e per finire arriva alla bellezza e alla meraviglia di un paesaggio, con un bel prato fiorito con colori caldi. Stile artistico unico e la storia è emotivamente forte. L’esperienza è coinvolgente e agrodolce. Mi è piaciuta molto l’introduzione del combattimento ma anche le sezioni con le piattaforme, quello che ho adorato di più sono Neva e Alba. A mio parere è un gioco che non può mancare, mi è piaciuto molto e me lo sono goduta fino alla fine. 

Neva ist eine gekonnte Weiterentwicklung zu GRIS. Es sieht unfassbar schön aus, bietet eine emotionale und doch düstere Reise mit wirklich toller Szenerie und beeindruckt sogar immer wieder durch die so knackig spaßigen Kämpfe und Platformsequenzen.

Nomada Studio sube la apuesta respecto a GRIS y nos regala una obra mucho más completa y redonda. Quizás algo más corta de lo que me hubiese gustado, pudiendo haberse explotado la idea una horita más al menos. Aun así, la experiencia en su conjunto es sobresaliente. Destaca, sobre todo, un apartado audiovisual único, una obra de arte tras otra que provocará que guardes una galería, tanto mental como digital, de imágenes tremendamente bellas. Los añadidos al gameplay encajan como un guante y solo suman a la experiencia general, aunque podrían haber sido algo más finos y variados, sobre todo el combate.

Neva is an outstanding short experience that wows on so many fronts. The visuals are extremely appealing and vibrant, while the story tells an emotional, wholesome tale that feels elevated thanks to telling it in a more unique way through actions versus dialogue. The gameplay is a bit simple, but it does the job for the scope of the game. And while I had some stopping points with the environment, it was ultimately worthwhile and didn't take too long to figure out. It is also perfect to play on the Steam Deck, and I can't say that enough! This is an essential for your portable library, especially if you have an OLED screen.

Neva’s immaculate presentation, enjoyable action, and moving narrative prop it up among 2024’s best indies. Despite boasting thrilling cinematic sequences and jaw-dropping visuals, Neva’s best moments are often its smallest: watching a relieved Alba call her furry friend after a brutal fight to share an affectionate and appreciative embrace.

Neva is another winner from Nomada Studio, but it's also much more than that. It's a drop-dead gorgeous game with truly fun platforming action, puzzles and combat, with hauntingly-beautiful moments. But the titular character is the true highlight, easily encapsulating the biggest strengths as you see this wolf grow up alongside Alba. It's a journey of motherhood that takes the form of one of the year's best platformers, and just one of the year's best games, period.

Neva cements Nomada Studio as a master of color and art design, with phenomenal visuals and animations that make the powerful, emotional narrative even more impactful. Neva also dramatically improves gameplay versus GRIS with satisfying combat and platforming. My only major grip is that the journey is simply over too soon.

With its breathtaking art direction, engaging gameplay and moving narrative it is a game that will resonate with players on a personal level much like this years Tales of Kenzara: Zau.

Neva es el nuevo plataformas de acción de Nomada Studio, creadores del celebrado Gris de 2018, título que sigue apostando por una dirección artística a cargo del ilustrador Conrad Roset que nos ha dejado, de nuevo, asombrados por su belleza visual. Pero Neva va más allá, dejando de lado los rompecabezas del anterior título del estudio barcelonés para apostar esta vez por la acción y las plataformas, no sin abandonar ciertas secciones más contemplativas donde la parte audiovisual brilla como nunca en conjunción con una trama realmente emotiva; mención especial para la conmovedora y apasionante banda sonora que nos acompaña, de nuevo, obra de Berlinist. Controlamos a Alba, una intrépida espadachina que debe hacerse cargo de una cachorrita de lobo tras un desgarrador suceso. Juntas deberán afrontar un viaje vital en el que el apego y el amor son el verdadero motor de una trama que nos emocionará y nos humedecerá los ojos en más de una ocasión, todo ello para hacer frente a una corrupción que está sumiendo a su mundo en la oscuridad. A lo largo de las cuatro estaciones del año, Neva irá creciendo y aprendiendo a nuestro lado, pasando de tener que estar pendiente de ella a contar con sus habilidades en combate. Los enemigos no son muy variados, aunque sí nos veremos las caras con varios jefes finales, de los que aprender sus patrones y atacar sus puntos débiles. Si bien el combate y los retos son más bien sencillos -incluso cuenta con un modo más narrativo con combates poco más que testimoniales- y peca de cierta reiteración de elementos y mecánicas, el conjunto de Neva logra destacar por encima de la media, dándonos una aventura donde la belleza audiovisual y la emoción se hacen con todo el protagonismo.

Neva toma los elementos que hicieron de Gris todo un éxito y los evoluciona a nuevas cotas. Lo nuevo de Nomada Studio cuenta ahora con un satisfactorio sistema de combate y unos puzles más ingeniosos y completos, pero manteniendo unas sólidas bases que se sustentan en la belleza visual y sonora.

Neva ofrece una experiencia emocionalmente reflexiva que perdurará en el tiempo, destacando por su equilibrio de plataformas, acción y puzles, con una narrativa profunda y un potente impacto visual.

Neva is a short emotional adventure with canvas-worthy art design and a beautiful soundtrack that I instantly added to my spotify playlist. The platforming gameplay is tight, the combat is simple yet satisfying and the relationship between you and your titular antlered wolf pet feels incredibly wholesome.

Neva is a fable about growth, friendship, and the cycle of life. The friendship between the protagonists is touching and will surely bring the player to tears in this beautiful game. The story has a twist that isn't one of my favorites, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a very meaningful experience, despite being short, and one that everyone should give a chance.

NEVA me ha cautivado. El viaje que he experimentado con este título ha trascendido más allá del entretenimiento, colándose por mi piel y llegando a lo más profundo del corazón. He sentido cada paso que avanzaba como una parte de mí, me he embriagado con la belleza de su mundo y he conectado con los personajes de un modo intenso, a pesar de que no han pronunciado ni una sola palabra -más allá del nombre de Neva- en todo el juego. La dificultad de conseguir eso en una industria que cada vez es más exigente ha de valorarse y, si Nomada Studio ya consiguió romperme con GRIS al experimentarlo por primera vez, han vuelto a destrozarme por dentro con NEVA. Placer culpable, porque cuando un juego te hace sentir da igual que sea sufrimiento y pesar, porque lo que pretende el arte es expresar cualquier tipo de emoción y aquí las he podido visitar todas.

Sur la même base de travail technique que GRIS, Neva nous propose pourtant une toute autre aventure où la relation entre les deux héros constitue le centre du récit. Apportant également la notion de combat pour des affrontements parfois bien nerveux - et tendus ! - cette nouvelle petite perle indépendante se découvre comme une bulle de fraîcheur de quelques heures dans un univers vidéoludique un peu trop cadenassé. Une fois de plus le parti pris esthétique constitue sa principale force même si on n’atteint pas la maestria visuelle du précédent jeu des studios Nomada (« les goûts et les couleurs », tout ça…). À réserver toutefois à ceux qui savent où ils mettent les pieds, car même si le titre nous a séduit, il reste un jeu « indé » de petite ampleur qui ne devra pas afficher à la caisse le même prix qu’un AAA.

Por ponerle alguna pega, tanto lo que cuenta como lo que propone jugablemente está demasiado trillado y no sorprende, y la relación entre la guerrera protagonista y la loba que da nombre al juego se podría haber explotado de una manera más ingeniosa, ya que queda en algo un tanto anecdótico. Pero pese a esto, es un juego muy redondo, al que nada le sobra ni nada le falta, y si te gustan este tipo de aventuras en 2D, lineales y con saltos y combates, te aseguramos que te va a encantar.

Neva est un magnifique action-platformer. Le jeu est certes classique, il est peut-être un peu trop court (quatre heures max), mais il est si beau que nous ne pouvons que fondre devant cette magnifique direction artistique. Après Gris, Nomada Studio arrive encore à nous subjuguer par la qualité de leurs décors et de leur bande-son. L’histoire, sur fond de transmission et de crise écologique, risque d’émouvoir plus d’une personne.

Neva is another proof that Nomada Studio is one of the best studios at telling beautiful, deep and sentimental stories. It's charming, lovely and gorgeous thanks to the characters, their relationship and how it evolves, all the messages it has and, of course, the artistic direction. It is very short, but the impact will last forever.

One of the most enduring testaments of a powerful video game is turning off your console and enacting real change in the world. Just like how having a child can make you a completely different person and value what you once took for granted, Neva‘s everlasting message of compassion in the face of adversity is a legacy worth fighting for.

Apoiando-se em uma narrativa de contemplação afetiva, guiado pelas emoções pungentes da música em perfeita sintonia com cada momento e construído sobre a arte visual de beleza profunda como poucos jogos alcançam, Neva é uma unidade essencial, uma experiência significativa que não foca na ação de plataforma, mas emprega-a como uma pequena parte que compõe um todo artístico indivisível, determinado e esperançoso.

En definitiva, 'Neva' no es ni un paso adelante ni un paso atrás con respecto a 'GRIS', porque son visiones diferentes, aunque puedan parecer muy similares a simple vista. 'Neva' introduce un combate sencillo que funciona a la perfección para su cometido y deja atrás los puzzles para centrarse en las dificultades para avanzar y en el movimiento de la protagonista como solución de los enigmas. Mi mayor queja con 'Neva' es que se acaba muy pronto (en apenas 4-5 horas terminamos la historia y posiblemente con todos los coleccionables). Nómada Studios hace que hacer lo que hacen parezca fácil y nos dejan con ganas de mucho más. Toca esperar unos años más para conocer qué será del equipo catalán, pero el futuro es muy prometedor.

Neva è la nuova perla di Nomada studio che racconta le fasi delle vita mentre il mondo decade attorno a voi. Non raggiunge le vette di drammaticità di GRIS, ma lo supera in quanto a complessità dei sistemi di gioco, ponendosi come un passo in avanti per lo studio spagnolo, che ha trovato la sua strada e sa come imprimere il proprio marchio di fabbrica.

Neva is Nomada studio's new gem that chronicles the stages of life as the world decays around you. It does not reach the heights of drama of GRIS, but it surpasses it in complexity of game systems, setting itself as a step forward for the Spanish studio, which has found its way and knows how to stamp its trademark.

Neva è un nuovo centro per Nomada Studio (e per i mai troppo lodati "osservatori" di Devolver Digital). Il nuovo titolo dello studio spagnolo riesce a spingersi "oltre", aggiungendo un layer di complessità ludica che risulta appagante e coerente con la narrazione e la presentazione audio-visiva del titolo, fiori all'occhiello della produzione. Un gioco davvero consigliato a tutti, apprezzabile su, appunto, "diversi" livelli. Riprendendo il sottotitolo della recensione, Neva è un fiero esponente dell'armonia tra arte e videogioco.

"Neva" ist so ein Titel, der mir ähnlich wie "GRIS" noch lange im Kopf hängen bleiben wird. Es nervt mich aber ein wenig, dass ich es auch nach mehrfachen Versuchen nicht schaffe, alle Blumen einzusammeln. Das bricht mein kleines Sammlerherz und stört meinen Wunsch, ein Game komplett durchzuspielen. Dadurch, dass die Sprungpassagen im Story-Modus nicht einfacher werden, ist das wirklich eine Herausforderung. Des Weiteren erinnert mich "Neva" irgendwie sehr an die Ghibli-Filme. Die Geschichte wirkt von dem Film "Prinzessin Mononoke" inspiriert, und die Monster vom Ohngesicht aus "Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland". Schade, dass hier keine Credits gegeben wurden, auch im Abspann nicht. Am meisten gepackt haben mich die Interaktionen mit "Neva". Ich habe gelesen, dass das Winseln von einem echten Husky aufgenommen und verwendet wurde. Es ist wirklich herzzerreissend süss! Alles in allem hatte ich viel Spass mit "Neva". Es ist ein Spiel, das vor allem durch seine Bildgewalt, seine Soundeffekte und seine Geschichte überzeugt.

A mi me ha encantado de principio a fin, me lo he pasado genial y me he emocionado varias veces, pero esto es como todo, hay que conectar con la historia o nanai.

Nomada Studios follow up title has gone above and beyond it’s predecessor. With deeper gameplay, vibrant colours and a heart wrenching story to boot. Although this 5 hour journey may be shorter than some would like, it doesn’t detract from its fantastic gameplay. Neva is an engaging and emotional experience that is well worth investing your time in, even if it is only for a day or two.

Nomada Studios' sophomore effort Neva-r ceases to impress – despite a couple of missteps.

Gorgeous visuals and an ethereal soundtrack invite players into the world of Neva. Yet these welcoming aesthetics are just the floral display surrounding a game with fast-paced combat, inventive platforming, and a touching story of the bond between warrior and wolf.

It's an evocative story that is beautifully told and has plenty of heart, and one that feels increasingly relevant in the context of the world that we live in.

Despite that, Neva is still an title that I believe most should dive in to. “Not being a revelation” is hardly a bad thing when what we have here is still a top-notch experience that was able to force feeling out of my dead heart.

Après le sublime Gris, Nomada Studio est de retour avec un jeu d’action-aventure qui, sous ses airs de fable écologique avec une jeune femme et son loup, porte en réalité un propos bien plus lourd. Et on a aimé la manière dont Neva nous a pris de court. Le dernier bébé de l’équipe espagnole revient en plus avec une superbe direction artistique, où la nature pleine de détails contraste avec le “vide” de certains passages, empreints d’un surréalisme qui fait écho à Gris… Dans Neva, Nomada propose également - pour la première fois - des phases d’action-aventure et s’en sort plus que bien. Les démons qu’Alba doit affronter donnent lieu à des phases d’action prenantes, bien mises en scène, où règne une certaine tension (sans jamais verser dans un challenge excessif). Une très belle aventure qu’on vous recommande.

Cavalcare attraverso i paesaggi di Neva è un balsamo per il cuore. Il suo mondo dai toni pastello, decadente e malinconico, le esplosioni di colore e poi l'oscurità da affrontare a colpi di spada -proprio come la Principessa Mononoke-, offrono un'esperienza audiovisiva che ha pochi rivali. Attraverso il legame tra Alba e Neva, il nuovo videogioco di Nomada Studio ci racconta una storia di amicizia e genitorialità che si rifà anche ai poetici universi di Fumito Ueda. Un'esperienza breve, e forse ancora troppo semplice, ma che lascia il segno grazie al suo sconfinato valore artistico.

Tra una coltre di nebbia e una distesa di fiori di campo, l'estetica di Neva è permeata di grande poesia. Un'ispirazione artistica che purtroppo risulta in parte offuscata da un eccessivo citazionismo, che chiama in causa in particolare l'immaginario tratteggiato dallo Studio Ghibli in La principessa Mononoke e ne La città incantata. Una colonna sonora di rara bellezza accompagna su schermo la crescita dei due protagonisti di Neva, una bambina e una cucciola di lupo. Tramite l'alternarsi delle stagioni, Nomada Studios ci racconta il rapporto di fiducia tra un essere umano e un animale, ma anche la ciclicità dell'esistenza. A dispetto di un comparto narrativo forse eccessivamente ermetico, Neva riesce a emozionare in molti frangenti, generando un sincero moto di affetto per i suoi personaggi principali.

Neva nos deleita con una buena cantidad de paisajes bien diseñados, tanto a nivel artístico, como jugable. Su escasa duración nos deja con ganas de seguir explorando con Alba y Neva, dos protagonistas que usan movimientos sencillos, pero donde hay poca evolución por parte de la primera de ellas. Sabe equilibrar exploración y combates, pero no se arriesga en estos últimos, aún así, es todo un viaje sensorial.

En algún lugar de las redes escuche mencionar a sus creadores que, NEVA fue el resultado de: una Joven muchacha luchando para proteger a un indefenso cachorro. Quien más tarde, con el correr de las estaciones se convertiría en una enorme loba. Lista para protegerla con sus feroces fauces de la absoluta oscuridad.  ¿Cómo se alternan los papeles? Tal vez… como la vida misma. Justo para recordarnos que incluso en los momentos más duros. En los momentos más difíciles no estamos solos. Ellos están presentes, y entregaran su vida sin pensarlo un momento. ¿No harías lo mismo por ellos? Gracias Nomada Studio por romperme en mil pedazos, una vez.

It makes you feel in ways you can’t even describe, and that’s a quality that makes Neva even more special with all the amazing things it has going for it.

Like a mix between Hayao Miyazaki and great French comic books, Neva is a breathtaking and heartbreaking adventure that stays with you long after it ends.

EVA es una aventura muy entretenida que destaca por la relación que forman Alba y Neva, sus momentos de plataformeo y los enfrentamientos contra los enemigos más poderosos, que suelen requerir superar pequeños puzles interesantes para localizar sus puntos débiles. Hemos echado en falta algo más de exploración y habilidades para explotarla, pero por lo general es un juego que sabrá llegaros por el profundo mensaje que deja en los jugadores.

Another utterly stunning platformer from the team that brought you Gris. The sometimes challenging combat does feel out of place, but the engaging visuals, music, and characters are more than enough to make Neva a worthwhile experience.

Il y a des œuvres qui vous marquent. Après l’excellent Gris, Nomada parvient une seconde fois à réaliser un jeu condensé et qui, pourtant, laissera une trace sur le long terme à celles et ceux qui s’y aventureront. Difficile de ne pas le comparer avec le précédent titre du studio, tant ils se ressemblent par endroits. Mais, Neva a une personnalité bien propre. Il aborde d’autres thématiques, tout aussi universelles et avec une force évocatrice qui touche droit au cœur. On en voudrait encore plus, juste un petit peu, pour refermer cette histoire sans fin en ayant la sensation d’être allé au bout véritablement de ce que le jeu pouvait nous raconter. Cela ne gâche pas le plaisir à traverser les décors sublimes de ce monde onirique, en compagnie de cette petite louve dont on se prend vite d’affection. Définitivement, Neva trouvera sa place dans le cœur des joueuses et des joueurs.

En définitive, Neva se présente comme un très bon jeu dans son genre. Même s’il me semble un cran en dessous de GRIS en termes d’émotions procurées, il le surpasse par son apports de gameplay, à savoir les phases de combat. Avec une durée de vie relativement faible – comptez 5 à 7 heures pour une première partie, sans vraiment de rejouabilité – et une difficulté pas très ardue (et c’est bien dommage), Neva ravira les joueurs en quête d’une courte aventure plaisante et envoûtante. En d’autres termes, si vous avez aimé GRIS, vous apprécierez assurément Neva, qui a toutes les cartes en main pour se faire son propre nom sur la scène vidéoludique.

Neva è senza dubbio un'altra esperienza emotivamente travolgente firmata Nomada Studio che punta tutto sul comparto artistico e sulla colonna sonora, dando vita a un racconto toccante, meraviglioso da vedere e da ascoltare. Al netto di questo, i combattimenti introdotti ci sono sembrati superflui e poco incisivi anche a livello estetico, risultando più un contentino per chi desiderava un'esperienza più dinamica invece che una vera e propria nuova meccanica. In generale Neva non colpisce duro nell'animo come Gris, ma riesce comunque a farsi amare nella sua emozionante semplicità.

Neva ist ein zugleich wunderschönes wie kurzweiliges Adventure, das auf emotionaler Ebene jedoch nicht ganz an Gris heranreicht. 

Kurzes Review? Ja, was soll ich sagen? Zusammenfassen lässt sich das ganze Spiel wohl mit: Captain Planet’s Verbündete unterwegs mit ihrem Haustier durch Bob Ross‘ wunderbare Märchenwelt, um kleine unglückliche Unfälle zu beseitigen. Nomada Studio hatte die Vision ein Spiel umzusetzen, in dem die Interaktion zwischen Mensch, Natur und Umwelt widergespiegelt wird. Das Sein und das Vergängliche. Wir laufen viel durch die fiktionale Welt, werden durch die Bindung zwischen Alba und Neva, sowie der musikalischen Untermalung, an eine emotionale Metaebene gebunden. Plötzlich auftretende „Verschmutzungen“, die wirklich sehr an die No-Faces aus Studio Ghibli’s Sen To Chihiro erinnern, werden immer mehr, immer größer und immer gefährlicher, je weiter die Reise voranschreitet. Für mich hat das Spiel eine ähnliche Nachricht wie After Us, nur dass wir hier die Apokalypse noch nicht erlebt haben, wenn das Spiel beginnt. Auf der kreativen Seite ist das Spiel richtig gut gelungen, auf der spielerischen Seite könnte es Leuten mit einer kurzen Aufmerksamkeitsspanne schon recht schnell langweilig werden, wenn sie 2-5 Minuten nur in eine Richtung halten, ohne dass irgendwas Nennenswertes passiert. Abwechslung haben wir im Grunde nur durch verschiedenste Gegnerklassen, zusätzliche Techniken, die durch das Heranwachsen Neva’s freigeschalten werden und durch diverse, nicht all zu schwierige One-Screen-Puzzles. Geheime Blumen, die sehr versteckt und teils schwer zugänglich sind, sollen ein Geheimnis freischalten, wenn alle im Spiel gefunden wurden. Zudem gibt es noch den Story-Modus, der jegliches Sterben ausschaltet und die Prüfungen vereinfacht. Alles in allem ein Spiel, das, meiner bescheidenen Meinung nach, den Fokus auf die kreative Ausarbeitung einer Vision legt, und etwas Spielmechanik als Bonus hinzufügt. Es ist definitiv nicht schlecht, aber definitiv auch nicht für jeden geeignet.

Neva greift da an, wo es wirklich schmerzt: Die Mutter Erde ist bedroht und braucht die Hilfe einer Kriegerin; dieses Konzept erinnert stark an Ghibli-Streifen wie Prinzessin Mononoke. Durch den unverwechselbaren Artstyle, gepaart mit einem fantastisch atmosphärischen Soundtrack, erwartet euch mit Neva ein leider sehr kurzes, dafür aber stark packendes Abenteuer. In meinen Augen lohnt sich der Preis von 19,99 Euro allemal, sollte euch schon Gris gefallen haben und ihr nun bereit für ein weiteres kritisches Abenteuer seid, das aber auch in Sachen Gameplay einen weiteren Schritt wagt. Neben seichten Rätseln gibt es ein angenehmes Kampfsystem mit einer überschaubaren Anzahl von Gegnern und interessanten Bossgegnern. Die große Stärke von Neva ist und bleibt jedoch die Atmosphäre und Story, welche Alba zusammen mit euch als Spielerin oder Spieler erlebt. Habt ihr mal einen Samstagabend frei, scheut euch nicht, in das neue Abenteuer von Nomada reinzuschauen.

Neva é uma jornada bela e emocionante, cheia de cenários incríveis e personagens cativantes. A história é capaz de engajar desde o primeiro minuto, mesmo sem usar palavras e consegue evocar emoções usando cores e sons. O combate traz um diferencial interessante e nos faz engajar e aproximar da vida desses protagonistas além de ser uma evolução em relação à Gris. No geral, Neva tem todos os atributos para ser um ótimo jogo para curtir em uma tarde despreocupada: curto, não muito complexo e com uma história impactante.

Neva es un juego que no te puedes perder si te gustan los juegos bonitos y con un fuerte componente emocional. Si bien no destaca por sus mecánicas jugables, nos veremos envueltos en una mezcla de paisajes, colores y emociones que nos atrapará hasta llegar al final. 

Nomada Studio follows up on the striking Gris with an effort that's poignant and precise, if maybe just a tad melodramatic.

Neva is not yet a modern classic, but it's one of those games that can be completed in a couple of evenings but is memorable for years to come.

Neva certainly offers a touching emotional experience, though it may fall short of the standard set by Gris. However, if you're an animal lover, you might find even greater emotional value in this game. The white wolf companion is incredibly lifelike, and the process of nurturing it leaves a deep and lasting impression.

Neva is a great looking game that provides a few hours of joy from simply being immersed in its world. The gameplay, story, and pacing are a bit more subdued, however.

Vive la emocionante historia de una joven y su vínculo eterno con un glorioso lobo en un viaje lleno de emocionantes aventuras a través de un mundo en decadencia.

Neva est clairement le digne successeur de GRIS. Le titre séduit avec ses visuels très inspirés par les productions de Ghibli et sa bande-son absolument superbe. Artistiquement, il n’y a rien à redire. Les visuels ont beau être minimalistes, le rendu est à tomber. En plus, Neva, avec son système de saisons, apporte plus de courbes à l’ensemble, plus de couleurs et plus de diversité que son prédécesseur. Cela vaut également au niveau des sonorités et des thèmes musicaux. Rien que pour ça, l’aventure vaut le coup d’être parcourue. Ce nouveau jeu essaie également de transcender la simple aventure contemplative en apportant toujours plus de phases de plateformes et des combats. Plein de bonnes idées sont incorporées pour renouveler la progression mais beaucoup sont également vite laissées de côté après quelques minutes. L’ensemble se parcourt de manière très mécanique et le début de l’aventure est hélas si poussif qu’il pourrait bien rebuter les plus pragmatiques cherchant avant tout une expérience ludique. Si vous arrivez à passer outre, vous serez sans doute complètement charmé pendant environ 3h45.

Neva is yet another Nomada Studio gem. Its platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat are visually stunning and will surely keep you engrossed. You get a sense of the story's greatest elements through the main protagonist, the wolf, as you watch her mature alongside Alba.

With Neva, Nomada Studio continues to display an unmatched level of craft as they create yet another visually striking and evocative fantasy world. But in bending it to fit new systems and more direct storytelling, Neva struggles to define itself beyond raw beauty and uneven, all too familiar thematic ground.

Und auch wenn die Spielwelt und die Präsentation euch in den Bann ziehen werden, spielerisch bleibt Neva auf der simplen Seite. Weder das Platforming noch die Kämpfe werden halbwegs erfahrene Gamer vor große Herausforderungen stellen, was umgekehrt dafür aber heißt, dass Neva auch für Einsteiger*innen zugänglich ist. Am Ende können wir für Neva eine Kaufempfehlung mit einem „aber“ aussprechen. Das Spiel wird euch zwar nur einige Stunden beschäftigen und euch dabei nicht allzu sehr fordern. Aber diese Stunden werden euch sehr, sehr lange in Erinnerung bleiben. Denn wie wir zu Beginn schon gesagt haben: Neva ist ein Kunstwerk und sollte auch so betrachtet werden.

Simplemente no me ha parecido tan significativo o inspirado, tampoco en su narrativa, por bien que hile las relaciones familiares con su naturaleza fantástica. Quitando ciertos pasajes destacables como las "bocas del infierno" y sus retos más creativos, y aparte de su innegable preciosidad, Neva se me ha hecho menos estimulante, como si la simplicidad sin complicaciones de Gris hubiera sido un mejor vehículo para tamaña inquietud artística.

It’s an effective moment in an otherwise pretty, though understated, adventure. Not every game needs to innovate, but considering that Neva is specifically about evolution, I found myself waiting for it to switch gears up through its abrupt ending. Like my pup early in our journey, Nomada Studio still feels like it’s growing as a developer. I can see its potential to create beautiful, heartfelt stories in both this and Gris, but it’s yet to really take a leap and find its voice when it comes to interactivity. But if Neva has taught me anything, it’s that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a slow process that happens naturally. An uncertain whimper from the edge of a cliff can become a brave leap; it just takes a little time and encouragement.

Neva propose un voyage qui marquera à coup sûr les joueurs lui ayant donné sa chance. Avec une relation plutôt intime qui se liera avec le petit louveteau devenant, au fil des saisons, de plus en plus grand. Le titre saura satisfaire ceux qui ont un peu de temps devant eux, car c’est là le principal défaut du jeu, sa durée de vie. Là où Gris proposait une durée de vie de 5h environ, Neva pourra être terminé à 100% en un peu plus de 3h, et cela, sans réellement forcer l’exploration. Mais, qu’à cela ne tienne, Neva est un magnifique tableau. Et il ravira tous les joueurs ayant été touchés par le style de narration de Gris. Un récit qui se vit, qui se savoure et qui se partage.

Neva enchants with its stunning, impressionist-inspired visuals and touching story of growth between Neva and Alba. While the gameplay isn’t overly challenging or varied, its balance of exploration and simple combat makes it perfect for fans of narrative-driven games over long, grind-heavy experiences.

Es fällt mir nicht leicht, Neva zu bewerten. Es ist kein schlechtes Spiel, aber hier wurde definitiv Potential liegengelassen. Die Entwickler punkten mit einer tollen, stilisierten Optik und sorgen darüber hinaus in jedem Kapitel mit neuen Umgebungen und unterschiedlichen Gegnertypen dafür, dass während den rund vier Stunden Spielzeit nie Langeweile aufkommt. Albas stark limitierte Fähigkeiten und Interaktionsmöglichkeiten mit der Umgebung führen allerdings auch dazu, dass sich Neva gameplaytechnisch viel zu selten von anderen Platformern abhebt. Die Entwickler wollten dies wohl durch eine emotionale Komponente ausgleichen, das gelingt ihnen jedoch nur zum Teil. Albas Beziehung zu Neva ist nett, aber kaum mit einer echten Mutter-Kind-Beziehung zu vergleichen. Auch sonst ist der Symbolgehalt des Spiels, der von den Entwicklern ausdrücklich betont wird, zu abstrus. Kaum jemand wird die dunklen Gegner im Spiel mit Umweltproblematiken oder der Coronapandemie unserer Welt gleichsetzen. Das haben andere Spiele, wie etwa After Us deutlich besser gemacht. Die meisten Spieler werden vermutlich nichts in die Geschichte hineininterpretieren. Für sie wird Neva einfach ein hübsches und gut spielbares, aber bisweilen etwas limitiertes und relativ kurzes Jump-’n’-Run sein; mit einer jungen Frau und einem Wolf, die gegen finstere Gegner kämpfen. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger.

Neva is a game that builds on the platforming prowess of its predecessor GRIS, offering powerful pastel visuals, incredible use of color and flora, and sublime set-pieces to tell a powerful story where your bond is everything. The game offers a newfound dynamism, trading in the label of a puzzle platformer for a more traditional adventure platforming approach. Sadly, the game fails to hit the narrative heights of its predecessor, and also fails to truly get the most out of each mechanic presented. But despite this, Neva is a captivating, visually jaw-dropping indie that is simply too good to ignore.

Neva is almost brilliant. This is a finely crafted game let down by too much empty time-wasting, untapped potential in its puzzling, and a rather onerous desire to make people cry.

Neva ultimately feels at odds with itself, trying to be too much at once. Its combat and platforming are competent, but not enough to carry the game on their own. Neva’s story seems to be reaching after pure emotional appeal and a more concrete tale at once, but landing awkwardly between them. While the sense of Alba and Neva’s connection is enchanting at first, the game loses focus on their relationship as it wears on. Even its stunning art — the best part of Neva by far — is stuck halfway between some of the most gorgeous depictions of nature I’ve ever seen in a game and less successful dives into surreal yet sparse environments. Maybe I’m being cold-hearted, but even its adorable wolf cub couldn’t keep me interested for long. Neva has its moments when everything briefly clicks, but in the end it takes a half-step in too many directions at once.

Con todo y con eso, hay que remarcar que las particularidades de Neva hacen que sea un producto para paladares muy específicos. Hay más acción, sí, pero sigue siendo una propuesta bastante contemplativa, que se regodea porque se sabe como algo precioso, rozando en ocasiones una prepotencia honesta, al anteponer secuencias de varios segundos en los que la perspectiva se recrea en su impacto visual, priorizando planos amplios y grandilocuentes para que admiremos su belleza, entorpeciendo por momentos la navegación por el escenario. Su estilo abstracto también puede dejar preguntas de difusa respuesta; Neva, y la obra de Nomada Studio en general, juega a eso, como decimos, con su belleza abstracta y cruda por momentos, a que las interpretaciones personales sean la base de la conversación. Si me preguntáis a mí, todo esto hace que sea un juego que voy a llevar guardado en el corazón y del que me acordaré durante años. Y al que recurriré, porque me ha invitado a reflexionar sobre aspectos de mi vida que tal vez no estoy haciendo del todo bien. En realidad, diría que esa es su mayor virtud.

Nomada Studio ha logrado nuevamente crear una experiencia visual y narrativa única que combina jugabilidad sencilla pero efectiva, un estilo artístico deslumbrante y una banda sonora profundamente emotiva. Neva es una experiencia imprescindible para aquellos que buscan algo más que acción: un viaje introspectivo y conmovedor en uno de los mundos más bellamente diseñados en el panorama actual de los videojuegos.

Neva es la siguiente obra del Nomada Studio que, tras Gris, ha seguido iterando en su diseño visual único. En mi opinión, sale reforzado no solo en el estilo visual. Neva es también un videojuego con ideas y mecánicas más sólidas. Había aquí material de sobra para hacer un plataformas más desafiante con reminiscencias a Celeste, pero probablemente el estudio ha preferido favorecer una experiencia más fluida y cómoda. Por ello, estas 5 horas se juegan rápidas mientras las estaciones del año van desentramando una historia que, sin palabras, tiene mucho que decir.

Sin duda alguna, tenemos claro que es lo que hace especial y atractivo a Neva. Tanto si has jugado a GRIS como si no, Neva es un título imprescindible que todos deberían experimentar en algún momento. Su jugabilidad sencilla lo hace accesible tanto para jugadores nuevos como para más experimentados. Además, la opción de elegir la dificultad del combate lo convierte en una experiencia aún más personalizable.

Para no alargarme más en este extenso análisis, concluyo destacando que Neva no será un juego que seguramente cope los titulares de las galas de final de año. Pero seguro que, si entras en él, no te arrepentirás. Imprescindible si te gustó lo que viste en Gris, lo recomiendo también para los que no lo hayan hecho. Con una factura audiovisual de las que sientan cátedra y una combinación perfecta y muy equilibrada de combate y plataformas, Neva además te removerá por dentro con su bonita historia, agridulce y cruda, pero que creemos que debe ser jugada. Hazlo ahora en su lanzamiento o espera una rebaja, pero hazlo.

Much of Neva feels propped up by its predecessor to cover its weaknesses, with familiar themes and the same platforming (flaws and all) from Gris encouraging fans of that game to not look too closely at this game’s faults. Ultimately, when Neva attempts a final narrative twist that fully leans away from the initially compelling and original themes of its story, it’s too much of a shift too late in the game, and only serves to undermine the few unique choices this experience attempts. At least it’s short.

In these moments, I think about my own dogs, about Alba and Neva, and the wolf who came before. I’ve thought a lot about how my relationship with the new pup will change and grow — about how it’ll be different or the same as with my best friend. There is no replacement to what I’ve lost, to what Alba and Neva have lost. But even forged in grief, something beautiful will grow. We’ll just move forward. Alba and Neva do, too.

I am in real danger of sounding ungrateful, because jeopardy was something I wanted more of in Gris. It's present in Neva, but the nuts and bolts need tightening before it hits an Ori And The Blind Forest, game of the year, orchestral tour sort of level of greatness. That aside - which in fairness is quite a big "that" in an action platformer - I think Neva is a step above Gris. The experience as a whole is engaging and bittersweet enough that I'll even forgive the 'it was all a dream' switcheroo.

Con todo esto, Neva se siente como un paso más en la madurez de Nomada Studio, que personalmente sentí más conmovedor y sentimental que GRIS. Se trata de una preciosa aventura en la que rápidamente nos olvidamos del grandioso objetivo global y enfocamos nuestros sentimientos hacia lo que realmente nos debería importar: aquellos a los que queremos. El juego lanza un poderoso mensaje de hermanamiento y cuidado mutuo, y también de pérdida y crecimiento. De aprender a vivir con lo que la vida nos arroja a la cara y hacernos fuertes ante la adversidad. Neva es un juego cuyo principal valor reside en la belleza artística y la potente emocionalidad de sus mensajes. Una aventura imprescindible.

Neva es ante todo una obra de arte. Uno de esos títulos que le pasa la mano por la cara a cualquiera que ose negar que los videojuegos lo son. Cuenta con un estilo que recuerda a GRIS, pero que se aleja lo suficiente como para tener esencia propia. Y por este motivo podremos identificar su conexión con su desarrolladora considerándolos de forma independiente. Y esto mismo se traslada al resto del contenido: a su historia, su combate y sus plataformas. Todo ello elementos que no hacen sino diferenciarlo y construirle su propio espacio, como dos hermanos que crecen de forma independiente.

Neva, la nueva obra de Nomada Studio, confirma al equipo barcelonés como uno de los estudios con mayor identidad visual y narrativa del panorama internacional. Bajo la dirección de Conrad Roset, este título evoluciona la fórmula de Gris hacia una experiencia más ambiciosa, integrando un sistema de combate sutil pero efectivo y una estructura capitular basada en las estaciones del año. La narrativa, centrada en el concepto del parenthood (la crianza) y el vínculo inquebrantable entre la protagonista, Alba, y un lobo fantástico, logra transmitir un mensaje universal sobre el paso del tiempo y el ciclo de la vida con una delicadeza abrumadora. Visualmente es una obra de arte en movimiento, con una estética inspirada en el Studio Ghibli y una banda sonora magistral de Berlinist que utiliza la música como un elemento narrativo más. Neva no es solo un digno sucesor, sino una pieza imprescindible que trasciende lo lúdico para convertirse en una experiencia emocional profunda y necesaria.

Neva es un excelente indie, un viaje emocional lleno de simbolismo. Un juego con un gameplay excelente que nos llevará desde la oscuridad a la esperanza y donde Nomada Studio nos ha regalado otra obra maestra.

Neva a donc été une excellente surprise. Le nouveau jeu de Nomada Studio réussit à se démarquer des autres jeux d'aventure narratifs en évitant le piège d'en reprendre la formule à la lettre. Grâce à ses phases de plateformes et ses combats, combinés à un système de difficulté simple mais bien intégré, Neva trouve un bel équilibre entre la dimension ludique d'un jeu et ses qualités artistiques. C'est donc une bien belle réussite que nous offre là le studio espagnol.

Neva s’inscrit dans la lignée de GRIS en offrant une expérience artistique marquante, sublimée par des graphismes enchanteurs et une bande-son exceptionnelle. Neva es una experiencia única con un buen apartado jugable con puzles, plataformeo y combate, pero la parte artística y sonora es donde más se nota el trabajo. Su historia llega a tocar el corazoncito, ya que tener a la pareja protagonista en pantalla y ver su evolución, hace que los jugadores puedan conectar con ellos.

Su duración puede variar entre las 3 y las 6 horas dependiendo de los coleccionables o la repetición de niveles, siendo una experiencia bastante rejugable llegado el punto.

Neva es una obra de arte jugable, un título totalmente imprescindible y uno de los juegos más bonitos hechos en nuestro país. Su apartado artístico es como un bello lienzo en donde se narra una preciosa historia cargada de mensajes sobre la maternidad, los miedos del ser humano, la naturaleza y la misma vida.
