Avec Neva, Nomada Studio a démontré toute sa maestria déjà entrevue avec Gris. Ils ont su garder toutes les qualités artistiques et émotionnelles de leur premier jeu tout en proposant un gameplay un peu plus poussé et challengeant. Avec Astro Bot c’est clairement la plus grosse claque de l’année à ce jour.

Neva has a wealth of stunning artwork here with a soundtrack that is simply superb. Alba and Neva are engaging and well thought out, even if Alba passes out a bit too often for my tastes. Regardless, Neva is a true work of art with a combat system that is deep enough for what this journey needs from Alba and her incredible companion. Its puzzles are brief enough that I don’t find them consuming too much of my time, allowing me to move on and find a pace that works for me. Neva may not break as much ground as Gris, but Nomada Studios has nonetheless crafted a stunning adventure and yet another masterpiece to enjoy.

Se me hace prácticamente imposible pensar que le sobra algo y todavía más difícil sugerir qué le podría faltar. Su historia ha conectado de forma honesta conmigo y tengo la sensación de que es exactamente lo que el estudio quería que fuera. No se trata de un juego cualquiera ni de una historia cualquiera, me atrevería a decir que se trata de un proyecto único que pertenece a lo que podríamos considerar un nuevo estilo dentro de la industria. In definitiva Neva è un ottimo secondo titolo per Nomada Studio che conferma assolutamente quanto visto di buono in Gris ed è una lettera d’amore alla natura e al rapporto uomo-animale da parte degli sviluppatori spagnoli. Consigliatissimo a chiunque apprezzi le avventure che riescono a coinvolgere il giocatore a livello emotivo semplicemente con la forza di un gameplay semplice ma efficace, un level design ed una regia artistica di ottimo livello e tutto quello che potrebbero trovare in un film d’animazione di Miyazaki o dello studio Ghibli. Per me Neva è assolutamente uno degli indie più belli di questo 2024 e seguirò con molta attenzione il futuro di questa software house di Barcelona che è riuscita a farmi emozionare e piangere due volte su due con le loro prime produzioni.

Nomada Studio, creators of one of my fave indie titles ‘GRIS’, brings you their newest creation, ‘Neva’. Similar to the stylings of anime, ‘Princess Mononoke’, this 2D platformer is an epic adventure of a girl and her wolf. With it, they answer the age-old gamer question… “Can I pat the dog?” The answer is a profound YES.

Neva cements Nomada Studio as a master of color and art design, with phenomenal visuals and animations that make the powerful, emotional narrative even more impactful. Neva also dramatically improves gameplay versus GRIS with satisfying combat and platforming. My only major grip is that the journey is simply over too soon.

With its breathtaking art direction, engaging gameplay and moving narrative it is a game that will resonate with players on a personal level much like this years Tales of Kenzara: Zau.

Neva toma los elementos que hicieron de Gris todo un éxito y los evoluciona a nuevas cotas. Lo nuevo de Nomada Studio cuenta ahora con un satisfactorio sistema de combate y unos puzles más ingeniosos y completos, pero manteniendo unas sólidas bases que se sustentan en la belleza visual y sonora.

Neva is a short emotional adventure with canvas-worthy art design and a beautiful soundtrack that I instantly added to my spotify playlist. The platforming gameplay is tight, the combat is simple yet satisfying and the relationship between you and your titular antlered wolf pet feels incredibly wholesome.

Por ponerle alguna pega, tanto lo que cuenta como lo que propone jugablemente está demasiado trillado y no sorprende, y la relación entre la guerrera protagonista y la loba que da nombre al juego se podría haber explotado de una manera más ingeniosa, ya que queda en algo un tanto anecdótico. Pero pese a esto, es un juego muy redondo, al que nada le sobra ni nada le falta, y si te gustan este tipo de aventuras en 2D, lineales y con saltos y combates, te aseguramos que te va a encantar.

Fans of the genre are unlikely to find a better game this year than this. Now I’m off to have a good cry and hug my kids.

Another utterly stunning platformer from the team that brought you Gris. The sometimes challenging combat does feel out of place, but the engaging visuals, music, and characters are more than enough to make Neva a worthwhile experience.
