The puzzles are clever, offering a mix of subtle and more grandiose brain scramblers. If you're a fan of cosmic horror or the Lovecraft mythos, Call of the Elder Gods is going to be a game you'll want to dive into immediately. This is one of the most outstanding games of the year so far, and it's not one you're going to want to miss.

Call of the Elder Gods no busca impresionarte a base de tentáculos y horror cósmico. Lo que propone es algo mucho más acotado: una aventura construida alrededor de la curiosidad, la incomodidad y la sensación constante de que existe algo enorme escondido justo fuera de tu alcance. 

Visualmente es precioso. Sonoramente sabe envolver cada escena. Y sus puzles consiguen algo difícil: hacer que pensar y observar formen parte natural del misterio.

Puede perder algo de ritmo en ciertos momentos y algunos acertijos pueden ser muy enrevesados para aquellos no tan duchos en este tipo de juegos, pero incluso ahí mantiene un nivel casi impecable.

I went into Call of the Elder Gods with a little trepidation, because I’ve played quite a few narratively focused puzzle games of late, and I feared I was a little burnt out. Thankfully, it’s a worthy sequel. Call of the Elder Gods is filled with some genuinely well-designed brain teasers, and a plot that eventually had me hooked, further fuelling my desire to solve the central mystery. If you’re looking for a new puzzle game to challenge you mind, this is a call you’ll want to take.

Los chicos de Out of the Blue Games dieron con la formula perdida cuando nos llevaron de paseo por una isla tropical llena de secretos en su precioso Call of the Sea. Ahora, seis años más tarde, regresan con una secuela de manual que adapta su formula a la escandalosa escala de sus entornos para dibujar paisajes tan vibrantes como coloridos, y unos rompecabezas tan duros como el lenguaje de los antiguos. Todo esto mientras desenmarañamos los secretos de una historia emocionante cargada de suspenso. Call of the Elder Gods es una mejora sustancial con respecto a su primera entrega, un paso hacia la dirección correcta, que engancha desde el primer minuto.

Out of the Blue Games vuelve a demostrar que sabe construir aventuras narrativas con personalidad, buenos puzles y una atmósfera muy cuidada, esta vez con un enfoque más viajero, más lovecraftiano y con dos protagonistas que funcionan bien. Es verdad que Call of the Elder Gods no es una revolución y quizá se queda corto en escala, pero es muy recomendable si lo tuyo es resolver acertijos.
