I found Deadlight very entertaining, and consider it one of the best platformers I have ever played. I highly recommend it to pretty much anyone who likes the sound of a fast-paced horror action platformer that also has a decent story and amazing visuals.

With the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade in full swing, Deadlight is priced at 1200 MS points, and in my opinion is a deal and a half. The quality of content is amazing, and when you combine the psychotic storyline with the fluid gameplay and top it off with amazing use of the Unreal engine for graphics and a soundtrack that will drive suspense deep into your soul, Deadlight is easily one of the best Xbox Live Arcade games to come out this summer or arguably this year. 

Sabemos que el Xbox Summer Live Arcade, como se ha comentado largo y tendido en estas mismas páginas, cierra sus puertas con títulos inolvidables. El año pasado hubo alguno que otro que todavía sigue sonando en las comunidades de aficionados interesadas en propuestas que se alejen de los tópicos. Viene a la cabeza Bastion, uno de esos títulos que nadie conocía y que hoy por hoy se ha convertido en un imprescindible del catálogo virtual de un poseedor de la sobremesa de Microsoft. Con Deathlight pasa exactamente lo mismo: esta vez su nombre había sonado como uno de los que estaban llamados a reventar el mercado gracias a un despliegue de calidad fuera de normal. Y no sólo por el peculiar estilo que emplea para representar la trama, sino por las condiciones técnicas que reúne, simplemente espectaculares. La relación calidad/precio aquí se justifica por sí misma sin opción a que nadie pueda obviar un secreto que poco a poco comieza a serlo a voces: a falta de grandes presupuestos, es imprescindible la originalidad y el talento para triunfar. Tequila Works su fantástico trabajo con Deadlight constituyen la prueba de ello.

En Tequila Works pueden estar orgullosos de su trabajo, pues el título con el que se estrenan es fácilmente una de las mejores obras que cualquier jugador puede encontrar en Xbox Live Arcade. 1.200 Microsoft Points de puro placer, pese a no durar mucho más de tres horas y media.

Die Story, die Atmosphäre und das fesselnde, abwechslungsreiche Gameplay (mit Suchen und Entdecken) bieten für Survival-Fans genau das Richtige. Auch wenn die Spielzeit mit rund acht Stunden kurz ist, kommt es hier meiner Meinung nach weniger auf den Umfang als viel mehr auf die Qualität an. Tequila Works bringt eine Top-Umsetzung bekannter Inhalte und Elemente – zwar nicht ganz so innovativ wie „Limbo“, aber einer der Pflicht-Downloads für diesen Spiele-Sommer!

Podemos alargar su duración con los extras que posee, las consolas portátiles, encontrar todos los secretos, mejorar los tiempos, etc, pero la experiencia “buena” (es decir, la primera partida con ese gran final) se hace corta. De todas formas, tengo que decir que DeadLight me ha encantado por su propuesta, el hacernos recordar juegos de antaño como Prince of Persia, como Flashback, como Another World, o por rendir homenaje a títulos como Limbo en los pequeños detalles. Tequila Works ha conseguido un título muy recomendable. Corto, sí, pero intenso, muy gratificante y con un desenlace que pillará por sorpresa a muchos. Jugarlo debería ser una obligación para todos los que posean una 360. Fantástico.

It's a pretty short experience, one that took me maybe five hours (if you don't die at all, you could easily finish in under two hours), but there are hidden knicknacks that make exploration worth your while. These come in the form of pages that have been torn out of Randall's diary (once collected, these pages will be crudely taped back into the book) as well as various other collectible "memories" that Randall keeps in a scrapbook. You can even loot I.D.s off dead bodies, giving names to many of the corpses you'll find lying about. And some of these names are kind of disturbing; I particularly remember finding a Gacy and a Bundy in the mix. (In case those names don't ring a bell, they were famous serial killers.) Lastly, each of the game's three acts has a handheld video game hidden in it, and you can actually play these games once you discover them. (You'll earn achievements for beating the high scores even though those scores are extremely low.)

En resumen Deadlight es una gran juego de plataformas que nos ha sorprendido por su alto grado de brillantez, el cual os recomendamos que no dejéis escapar la oportunidad de probar, más aún si también os gustan los survival horror, siendo el único punto negativo que podríamos achacarle una duración de la aventura que puede hacerse algo corta, rondando esta las 6 horas de juego a cambio de 1200 Puntos Microsoft, si bien su calidad justifica su precio, posicionándose como uno de los lanzamientos más destacables del año en Xbox Live Arcade.

Deadlight es un título que brilla por sí mismo con una personalidad definida y que es muy bueno en muchos aspectos aunque en otros se ve lastrado por pequeños fallos como su corta duración o la decisión de no doblarlo al español. En definitiva un título más que recomendable a todo tipo de público, muy entretenido y que engancha de principio a fin.

Respekt an Tequila Works: Schon mit ihrem ersten Titel beweisen die Spanier, dass man auch ein abgegriffenes Thema wie die Zombie-Apokalypse erfrischend anders inszenieren kann. Der Mix aus Schatten und gleißenden Hintergründen sieht richtig klasse aus. Auch der schwermütige Soundtrack und Randalls surreale Traumsequenzen passen gut zur Geschichte um versprengte Grüppchen von Überlebenden. Spielerisch bleiben die Spanier zwar konservativ und orientieren sich an Klassikern wie Another World oder Limbo – gerade deswegen hat mich der gelungene Mix aus Rätseln und knackigen Kämpfen aber sehr gut unterhalten. Gestört haben mich nur die etwas zu träge Steuerung, die häufigen Ladepausen sowie die Verfolgungsjagden unter Zeitdruck. Einer der stimmungsvollsten XBLA-Titel des Jahres!

Deadlight lacks neither style nor substance, and it lasts just about the perfect amount of time. The story is minimal but engaging, and the ending is unexpected -- in a good way. A couple of sections stumble a bit, but not enough to detract from what is an engaging, memorable experience.

Deadlight è un buon titolo, con un bel protagonista, confezionato con una cura al di sopra della media, sia per pulizia delle meccaniche che per la realizzazione degli ambienti e del mondo di gioco. Non è lunghissimo e, visto che viene venduto a 1200MP, offre il fianco alla sensazione che le meccaniche e le idee implementate avrebbero potuto essere sfruttate più a fondo, spingendo il giocatore verso morti più frequenti anche grazie a sequenze di gameplay più impegnative. Nel complesso resta un titolo consigliato, soprattutto in questa torrida estate, ed è un buon inizio per i Tequila Works, che speriamo prendano questo spunto per portare avanti una storia che finisce un po' troppo in fretta, lasciando, come certi serial a cui si richiama, qualche porta aperta di troppo.

As simple as it all may be, it makes for a frantic, dizzying, four- to five-hour rush. And that's Deadlight's strongest suit: you feel a constant, adrenaline-fueled urge to just. Keep. Moving.

Deadlight no carece de estilo ni sustancia, y dura la cantidad de tiempo erfecta. La historia es mínima pero interesante, y el final es inesperado -- de una forma buena. Algunas secciones desentonando un poco, pero no lo suficiente para alejarnos de lo que es una adictiva y memorable experiencia.

Deadlight nos ofrece una historia divertida, que tiene sus sorpresas aunque es algo corta,  un apartado gráfico  brillante, aunque tampoco es perfecto, gracias a un diseño artístico muy cuidado, donde la música y los efectos sonoros terminan por redondear la atmosfera. Sin embargo, la jugabilidad nos dará algún que otro problema a la hora de entendernos con nuestro personaje, aunque es muy sencilla y no tendremos complicaciones para jugar. En conjunto, tenemos un arcade de calidad, que vosotros deberéis decidir si llega a vuestras expectativas o no, pero que para muchos puede ser uno de esos títulos que recomendarán sin cesar, aunque sea como juego descargable.

Para concluir podemos decir claramente que estamos ante el nuevo Shadow Complex de nuestro XBOX Live Arcade del que seguro sus compradores no se sentirán decepcionados. El juego debut de Tequila Works rebosa calidad y un mimo desmesurado por los pequeños detalles que dejará boquiabierto al más pintado. Y eso es palpable desde el primer minuto de juego donde nos quedaremos asombrados con su narrativa y jugabilidad que nos mantendrá pegados a nuestro sillón hasta descubrir los entresijos de una historia que va ganando en intensidad según vamos sabiendo más. Como pequeña contra tenemos su corta duración y lo sencillo que puede resultar para los más veteranos en el género, aunque las máquinas Game&Watch y los coleccionables pueden sumar algunas horas más que seguro amortizarán el dinero invertido.

Deadlight es una fantástica aventura de acción y plataformas que presenta momentos de gran brillantez, pero también una ajustada duración para los 11,99 euros que cuesta. Es un juego muy entretenido, tenso, con una gran ambientación y un apartado jugable con mucha personalidad que no decepciona. Uno de los lanzamientos descargables más destacados del año.

Deadlight es un juego con una ambientación, con una historia y con un apartado técnico bastante notable, siendo especialmente el apartado artístico algo que hace que entre especialmente por los ojos, pero como ya habéis leído, todo no queda ahí, ya que posee un toque jugable y unas propuestas que nos harán estar pegados a el de principio al fin, hasta conseguir el total de los coleccionables y rincones del juego.

Deadlight: Director’s Cut es una buena remasterización, aunque se ehan en falta novedades y añadidos. Pule los pilares básicos del producto: gráficos, control y animaciones pero, sin embargo, a pesar de la introducción del modo Supervivencia y el ya mencionado lavado de cara, esperábamos algún tipo de novedad más o quizá algún añadido en forma de capítulos de historia o añadididos jugables. Lamentablemente no ha sido así, con lo que recomendar su compra al precio solamente podemos hacerlo para aquellos que no lo probaron en su día, que pueden disfrutar ahora de un notable título cuya gran pega es que es bastante corto. Aquellos que ya lo jugaron posiblemente no tendrán motivos suficientes para pasar por caja, pero si no lo probaste es una buena oportunidad de probar el excelente trabajo de Tequila Works.

Si te gustan los zombis y los juegos de supervivencia post apocalipticos, estas tardando en hacerte con el. El estudio español Tequila Works ha hecho un trabajo formidable a la hora de recrear este tipo de situaciones en las que tendrás que tener el tensiometro a mano. Si no te mola tanto el rollo infección y brote de zombis, deberías darle una oportunidad a este tipo de juego. El juego por suerte viene subtitulado al español y esta en el mercado por un precio de ganga para lo que te encuentras por ahí hoy en día. 

Después de todo esto, quizá les sorprenda mi veredicto. A pesar de sus fallas y de todos los errorcitos que marqué, Deadlight me pareció un juego muy especial. O lo amas o lo odias, pero no te parecerá indiferente. En lo personal, lo amé. Posiblemente por que soy más una persona que se fija en los detalles, los escenarios, la música, etcétera. Si buscan jugar algo diferente en su Xbox, Deadlight es una buena opción, pero si son muy exigentes, mejor esperen una rebaja. De todas maneras, les recomiendo ampliamente el demo, sirve para darse una muy buena idea.

Tequila Works ha hecho un buen trabajo con Deadlight Director’s Cut, no sólo por la resolución, sino también por las nuevas animaciones y los controles mejorados. Aunque el modo survival nos ofrece más horas de juego, inevitablemente, repite las carencias del título original, con una campaña corta que deja la miel en los labios y la sensación de que un par de horas más la habrían completado.

Uma pitada de estratégia, alguns lances de aventura, um clima de suspense, tiros para incrementar. Misture tudo e coloque muitos zumbies. Uma receita que deu certo.

Aunque la duración siempre fue su talón de Aquiles, la cantidad de secretos por encontrar en forma de coleccionables repartidos por todo el mundo del juego y la posibilidad de volver a jugar escenas sueltas para buscarlos aportan cierto componente de rejugabilidad, algo que siempre agradecemos los que tenemos obsesión por recolectar el 100% de objetos en cada juego. El viaje de Randall Wayne puede tomarnos en torno a cinco horas durante la primera partida, una cifra que puede verse muy rebajada una vez comprendemos sus mecánicas y nos acostumbramos a superar sus obstáculos. Por todo lo demás, Deadlight Director’s Cut demuestra que el paso de los años no ha afectado en absoluto al juego original. Un juego fresco, adictivo, con una carga narrativa bastante pronunciada y un diseño artístico que conforman, como dije al inicio de este texto, una pequeña gran obra.

Som Limbo gjorde for to år siden har Deadlight bragt råolie-tyk atmosfære til Microsofts sommer-tilbud, og hvis noget retfærdiggør prisen, så er det atmosfæren.

Deadlight is a mix between storytelling, side-scrolling, puzzle solving, and good old fashion survival horror. It reinvents nothing, but it successfully integrates components from each genre. Minor grievances aside, Deadlight belongs right up there with the most entertaining ‘zombie’ games. For a simple arcade title, it has enough breadth to warrant a hardcore gamer’s attention.

Deadlight, attesissimo piatto forte di questa Summer of Arcade, non delude le aspettative. Mescolando meccaniche platform, action e survival in maniera veramente oculata il titolo riesce a conquistare sin dal principio i favori del pubblico. La grande varietà di situazioni fa da contraltare ad una progressione piuttosto lineare e a qualche sezione forse troppo fitta d’enigmi ambientali da risolvere in rapida successione. Il fascino di una struttura ludica tanto “diversa” dallo standard viene dunque corroborato da una ricerca artistica veramente di alto livello, che stupisce continuamente il giocatore con trovate al limite tra il digitale e la carta stampata, realizzate in maniera impeccabile. Per 1200 MS Points un titolo assolutamente da non perdere.

Deadlight brengt je een korte maar ontzettend spannende rit door het postapocalyptische Seattle. De game speelt lekker en ziet er dankzij zijn grimmige uiterlijk en diepe achtergronden prachtig uit. De controle van je karakter is soms wat aan de gevoelige kant, maar na een tijdje zul je het onder controle hebben. Het verhaal doet niets onverwachts, maar staat zijn mannetje. Het grootste minpunt is toch het gebrek aan hulp. Hierdoor zul je nogal wat keren doodgaan en moet je weer naar een laadscherm kijken, wat natuurlijk de geweldige spanning doorbreekt. Toch zijn het maar kleine gebreken en Deadlight is dan ook een titel die je zeker een keer moet proberen. 

Creating a compelling zombie game in a generation with too many of them is a hard task. Tequila Works manages to do this while successfully merging it with the unlikely action-platforming genre. The lame narrative and lack of consistent challenge can’t overshadow the fun I had with Deadlight. I’m crossing my fingers for a sequel.

With Deadlight, Tequila Works has clearly taken inspiration from the critical and commercial recent success of Limbo on Xbox Live Arcade. The gameplay in this original survivalist horror title nods to PlayDead's masterpiece, but that is not a bad thing.

Deadlight is een hele originele zombieplatformer, waarin de nadruk ligt op overleven en puzzelen. De grafische stijl doet misschien wel denken aan andere XBLA-games, maar ook hier weet Deadlight voor een eigen, originele twist te zorgen. De paar minpunten die de game rijk is clusteren helaas ongelukkig samen en zorgen van tijd tot tijd voor veel frustratie, maar dat is al snel vergeven en vergeten als je even later met je brandweerbijl een zombieschedel doorklieft.

Deadlight es un gran título que peca en pocos sentidos: Su duración es escasa, y apenas incluye novedades a nivel jugable respecto a la versión que salió unos meses antes en Xbox 360. Un nivel de dificultad más elevado es lo único que incluye en exclusiva para PC, además de la ya mencionada "breve" mejora gráfica. Por lo demás es un título que llama la atención y cumple con creces su cometido. Si tuviera una historia más larga, así como más opciones o algún modo de juego a parte de la historia, podría ser un título sobresaliente.

Da la impresión que a Deadlight le han faltado unos meses de desarrollo para pulir y profundizar una idea genial. Pese a todo, el primer juego de Tequila Works es divertido, corto pero con momentos formidables, y con una dirección artística excelente. Simplemente para pasear como turista por un Seattle abandonado y sin vida merece la pena la compra. 

Sí, es cierto que podrían ahorrarse la carga después de la muerte, que las escenas contadas estilo comic pueden llegar a ralentizar en según qué momento la acción y que faltan unos últimos niveles que de verdad pongan a prueba tu habilidad adquirida. Pero, con todo, Deadlight sale a la luz demostrando lo que se puede hacer con unos recursos moderados y con un equipo de élite. Da miedo (y orgullo, para qué nos vamos a engañar) pensar qué podrían hacer los chicos de Tequila Works con todas las herramientas a su favor.

Qu'on se le dise, on est bien content de voir débarquer ce Deadlight sur PC. Le titre joue habilement des références aussi bien dans le domaine des œuvres mettant en scène des invasions zombies que dans celui des jeux de plates-formes. Le résultat ne brille pas forcément par son originalité mais il propose une aventure envoûtante et une ambiance parfaitement maîtrisée qui risquent fort bien de vous scotcher littéralement à votre clavier.

Deadlight ist ein atmosphärisches Action-Adventure, das besonders von der Inszenierung und der erwachsenen Präsentation lebt. Randalls Suche nach seiner Familie ist spannend bis zur letzten Sekunde. Da kann man die äußerst kurze Spielzeit schon mal verschmerzen - im Gegensatz zum trägen Kampfsystem: Oft schwingt ihr die Axt ins Leere, weil ihr gerade am Anfang nicht genau abschätzen könnt, wann ihr einen Zombie trefft. Besonders dann, wenn sie aus dem Hintergrund auftauchen. Starke Nerven sind im späteren Spielverlauf ebenfalls von Vorteil, wenn ihr unwissend in Fallen rennt und viele Tode erleidet. Es wird zwar nie unfair, dennoch sind einige Abläufe in den Szenen nur schwer vorauszuahnen. Wer auf Zombies steht und Lust auf ein I-am-Alive-angehauchtes 2-D-Adventure der guten alten Schule hat, liegt mit Deadlight genau richtig.

La mezcla de géneros no crea forzosamente un producto original, pero la ambientación es estupenda y el desarrollo entretenido. El resultado es una jugabilidad muy de antaño, sólo empañado por su corta duración.

Deadlight es un título que ha jugado bien sus bazas antes de su lanzamiento, aunque finalmente se ha visto superado por el alto hype generado a su alrededor. A nivel visual, la propuesta de Tequila resulta toda una gozada, de lo mejorcito que podemos encontrar en matería de diseño artístico. En lo jugable recuerda mucho al primer Príncipe de Persia, lo que no resulta malo en absoluto, pero puede no gustar a todos los que esperaban algo más parecido a un plataformas de acción y no de resolución de puzzles.

Il porting su PC di uno dei più promettenti live arcade di quest’anno si rivela più che valido nonostante la scarsa longevità - rimasta comunque invariata rispetto alla controparte Xbox 360 - e a causa di alcune piccole difficoltà legate al sistema di controllo. Deadlight è un titolo che spicca fra le innumerevoli produzioni a tema zombie, grazie ad una realizzazione grafica di tutto rispetto, nonché al merito di aver riportato in luce un genere, quello dei cinematic platform, che non deve per nessun motivo cadere nel dimenticatoio.

Три акта аккуратно разделены по вкусовым предпочтениям: один для игроков, неравнодушных к дождливому нуару, другой для любителей «хардкорных платформеров», третий для поклонников «голливудщины». Жаль, Deadlight слишком коротка, чтобы полностью удовлетворить аппетиты хотя бы одной из этих групп.

Despite coming away from Deadlight content with the experience and happy that someone has tried to recapture a dead genre, it’s just not something that’s easily recommended at the 1200 points ($24) price-tag. Once you’ve beaten the two and a quarter hour experience you’ll find little to go back for. Again, that’s not to say that the game is bad, as it is far from that, but it’s just not justifiable at that price for anyone other than those hungry for some Flashback-inspired nostalgia. Grab the trial and see if it’s for you, but otherwise wait for a price-drop.

Deadlight è di certo un'ottima lettera di presentazione da parte dei ragazzi di Tequila Works. Questi sviluppatori spagnoli hanno creato un gioco dalla grande atmosfera e dal gameplay ottimo, che non deluderà gli amanti dei platform e dei rompicapo. Peccato per la durata scarsissima e per le imperfezioni, che gli impediscono di essere un must buy.

And to be fair, even if progress was lost, and despite some of the cheap deaths I encountered, Deadlight’s checkpoints are extremely lenient and well-spaced. I was never really stuck for long re-doing any section of the game, and I certainly felt like the experience was more about the overall journey than navigating overly tough bits of platforming or combat. And really, that’s what makes Deadlight stand out to me more, the fact that it takes horror and shoves it into a 2D space, and does a pretty good job of it. Deadlight looks absolutely gorgeous in motion, and I adore every bit of it that involves me ducking through open windows into abandoned motel rooms, houses, warehouses, and just seeing the absolutely wrecked world surrounding it all. It feels and looks like you’d expect a post-apocalyptic world to be, but all within a 2D space, which is unique enough to make Deadlight worth your time.

‘Deadlight’ es un juego que derrocha puro arte y muy buenas intenciones. Con un apartado técnico genial, esta versión de PC sufre de los mayores bugs que he visto últimamente en un videojuego, eclipsando casi por completo las grandes bondades del título. Una verdadera pena, ya que esta produccion española podría haber sido mucho más de lo que finalmente ha sido. Todo ello, por culpa de una historia que no aporta nada nuevo, unos bugs agudizados en la versión PC y un control a veces frustrante.  Aun así, para aquellos que disfrutamos de todo el arte que rodea en una producción de estas características, el juego se mantiene en un nivel de entretenimiento bastante notable gracias a su maravilloso apartado técnico. 

Así pues nos encontramos ante un juego correcto y con una dificultad ajustada, pero poco innovador y con una duración algo reducida (incluso para un juego descargable).

Así, el principal handicap de Deadlight son los 1200 Microsoft Points que cuesta, un detalle que lo pone muy lejos de la cabeza de lista de los mejores juegos de Xbox Live Arcade; aumentando la duración y opciones de juego (o reduciendo drásticamente el precio) nos hubieramos encontrado con una apuesta mucho más recomendable... Aún así el título no va a defraudar a los amantes de los no-muertos, e incluso esconde algunas sorpresas muy agradables.

Deadlight Director’s Cut es un muy buen juego que te podrá entretener unas cuantas horas pero que te cansará muy fácil debido a lo repetitivo de su gameplay (el cual no es malo) y a las zonas o escenarios que no son muy llamativos en su totalidad.

Aunque si tienes la oportunidad de jugarlo es altamente recomendado que lo hagan tomando en cuenta que este no es un título de horror sino un plataformero de supervivencia.

Grâce à sa réalisation de très grande qualité et des idées piochées ici et là chez les plus grands, le titre de Tequila Works se pose comme une belle aventure à vivre sur le Xbox Live Arcade. Même si on peut lui reprocher sa prise de risque minimale et une durée de vie un chouïa trop courte, Deadlight reste une expérience que tout fan de jeu en scrolling horizontal se doit de tester. On attend toutefois une petite baisse de prix à 800 Microsoft Points pour vous le conseiller chaudement.

Doch die hohen Erwartungen wurden nicht ganz erfüllt: Der Mix aus Flucht- und Geschicklichkeitspassagen bietet einfach nichts Besonderes, die Story zieht sich und das häufige Trial & Error kann nerven. Trotzdem behalte ich Deadlight in guter Erinnerung: Das Leveldesign ist stimmig, die Atmosphäre gefällt mir und auch die PC-Umsetzung kann sich – abgesehen vom blöden Cutscene-Bug – sehen lassen. Alles in allem ist Deadlight zwar kein Top-Spiel, aber doch ein netter Rückfall in selige Flashback-Zeiten.

And yet, I still say it’s worth playing. For all of its shortcomings, its flaws, and its failures, I still enjoyed my time with Deadlight. I wanted to find out what happened to Randall and his family. I was driven, compelled to finish, and I would still recommend that it be played. Fans of side-scrolling platformers, and zombie games in general, will find an original, if imperfect, experience here.  And while the price is a bit steep for the content, I think there’s a great game to be found in here. I hope Tequila Works gets a chance to make a sequel, because I think this is a zombie story worth telling.

Tequila Works certainly understands the 2D space and there is some sense of satisfaction in navigating Randall Wayne through miles of hallowed out buildings, a treacherous underground, and zombie-infested roads. They’ve also managed to craft an alternate version of 1980’s urban America that I wanted to learn more about. This is especially the case for a game that could be beaten in one sitting. That’s not automatically a bad thing, but it is when it’s a brisk game like Deadlight, one devoid of genuine challenges whether it’s combat or puzzles.

The game is a bit high priced; the production value is very good. For some players this may make it well worth the Microsoft points it costs. A straight forward game with for the most part simple environmental puzzles, though at times some of the darker environments can make seeing just how to get past a puzzle a little difficult. (Just adjust your TV or game settings) Story presentation wise, there are moments of pacing that start out really well during the games progression, but players may find later levels feeling a bit anti-climactic. After a play through there is not much in the line of replay ability because it’s the same in each play.

Deadlight é um jogo bastante interessante de conhecer e de terminar, mas após isso ficamos com praticamente nada para fazer. Isto, aliado ao jogo durar bem menos de duas horas e o preço que nos é pedido, fazem com que Deadlight não seja um clássico que se recomende sem reservas. Tem toda uma personalidade que fica com o jogador e quem se atrever a entrar neste mundo vai ficar mesmo com desejo por mais, seja porque motivos for.

Deadlight will take you around 3-4 hours to finish. It’s not the longest of games, and there’s a big chance you probably won’t want to play it through again. That said, it must be noted that Tequila Works should be commended for trying to spice up the use of zombies, and while that doesn’t make this game great – silly things like that dumb underground lair spoil it – Deadlight is still an enjoyable title to play. When it’s at its best, the game is a thrilling experience that tickles nostalgia for the genre it represents.

Vezmu-li ale v potaz, že Deadlight je hra, která vychází v rámci programu Summer of Arcade a na Xbox Live se momentálně prodává za pouhých 1200 MS bodů (něco kolem 400 korun), a přičtu-li k tomu solidní znovuhratelnost, ke níž vás žene fakt, že za každou na 100 % splněnou část se vám otevře jeden handheld se zajímavou minihrou, musím hru důrazně doporučit. Jde o silně atmosférický zážitek, který vás donutí bát se, přemýšlet a citlivější jedince možná i rozpláče.

Tequila Work’s debut’s confident craftsmanship and considered design more than compensates for its shortfalls with the narrative’s impact and the intermittently niggling handling. It’s by no means a smooth ride, but this dank and desolate landscape is worth braving.

Pero pese a su corta duración Deadlight es una experiencia bastante recomendable. No es que sea precisamente un renovador soplo de aire fresco, pero sí un sólido videojuego que recupera mecánicas clásicas con acierto y las envuelve con un fantástico componente audiovisual y una historia atractiva. Su brevedad y algunos defectos lastran el resultado global, pero aún así es probablemente lo mejor que nos va a dar esta temporada del Summer of Arcade de Microsoft.

While Deadlight makes a gamble hiding some of its biggest narrative successes behind collectible items, that risk pays off well enough to overlook some of its mechanical flaws. Tequila Works pushes the presentation and production values of the genre past where anyone could reasonably expect, and has a game that stands out because of it. If it were longer, it would suffer more, but the time investment required and the ultimate rewards Deadlight offers make it a standout for this year's Summer of Arcade.

Deadlight es un título que desprende personalidad y buen hacer en muchos aspectos, pero que se ve lastrado más de lo debido por otros. Su corta duración, lo previsible de la historia, su elevado precio, su baja dificultad, sus bugs y su falta de explotación en algunas mecánicas que podrían haber dado mucho juego, acaban por hacer mucho daño a su perfecta ambientación, a su variado desarrollo y a su interesante propuesta jugable en general. Un buen título que se hace muy entretenido mientras dura, pero que nos deja con la sensación de que podría haber dado mucho más de sí, ya que potencial no le falta precisamente.

Se state cercando un gioco "zombesco" che faccia passare in fretta il tempo che vi separa da Resident Evil 6, il titolo Tequila Works potrebbe comunque essere una scelta di buon livello. Il gioco avrebbe anche potuto salire un ulteriore gradino nella nostra scala di valutazione... peccato però che ancora una volta i 1.200 Punti Microsoft richiesti per il download siano un prezzo un po' troppo esoso per la quantità di contenuti offerti.

Deadlight was a fantastic idea whose execution just didn’t do it the justice it deserved. It’s too short, its challenges too cheap at times, and it occasionally loses focus of what it wants to be—and yet, at the same time, Deadlight is also a surprisingly beautiful adventure through a world of chaos that does more right than it does wrong.

As fleeting entertainment, Deadlight works, its flattening of a tired apocalyptic premise doing enough to make sure that it feels fresh. It's a worthy successor to other 2D XBLA adventures, but in the end you can't help feeling that this one could have done with a little more depth.

Supongo que la mayoría esperábamos otra cosa de Deadlight. No es memorable: quizá era mayor la ambición que esperaba que la que en cualquier momento tuvo el proyecto, aunque eso no le impide ser, con todo, un buen juego para cualquiera con predisposición a disfrutar de las plataformas de corte clásico, interés por las ambientaciones trabajadas, oscuras o no, y creyente en las aquí algo desaprovechadas posibilidades metafóricas (o como saco de boxeo) del zombi. 

Aunque Deadlight es un poco breve (podéis completarlo en menos de 10 horas), se compensa por su identidad y la forma en que atrapa al jugador en su atmósfera. La frustración y el exceso de expectativas no han de apartaros de un título repleto de bondades.

Resulta alentador ver cómo siguen apareciendo producciones que rescatan la jugabilidad de aquellos juegos “primitivos”, y a los que solo les hace falta un lavado de cara para seguir siendo igual de entretenidos. Son 6 horas de jugabilidad “old school” en los que sí, hay momentos cuyo desarrollo se vuelve demasiado rígido, y somos castigados casi sin esperarlo. Algunos dirán que este diseño de la acción ya está ampliamente superado en los días que vivimos, pero no viene nada mal encontrarnos con un juego así de vez en cuando. Como curiosidad, hay un montón de objetos coleccionables y entre ellos nos encontramos con tres consolas antiguas, o lo que es lo mismo, aquellas “máquinitas” con las que muchos nos pasábamos las horas muertas jugando antes de tener el primer ordenador o consola en casa. Un detalle más de un juego muy recomendable que viene a demostrar que las buenas ideas, con pequeños retoques, perduran en el tiempo.

Pour faire simple, Deadlight : Director's Cut est une bonne adaptation de Prince of Persia, avec des zombies. L'histoire est intéressante et le jeu comporte que 3 chapitres. C'est assez court mais largement suffisant pour y avoir passé un bon moment.

Deadlight is able to create a mood and a purpose as you work your way through dangerous and sinister spaces, but despite the interesting and involving concepts it struggles in its expression. You feel more as if you're performing a repetitive series of tasks rather than surviving by your wits, but there's still a certain satisfaction in overcoming the game's challenge. There's some real light breaking through here, but it's unfortunate that it couldn't shine a little bit brighter.

It's obvious that Deadlight is a game that was born of passion. It's not perfect, but it is by no means a cookie-cutter cash grab. Given the short length, limited replay value and 1,200 MSP ($15 USD) price point, it is difficult to recommend across the board. For genre fans, though, Deadlight is a refreshing take on the zombie trope and an experience that stands on its own.

Unfortunately, there are never many options in Deadlight, and it's usually obvious which one best fits your current scenario. In the three or so hours that it takes to complete the game, you feel less like you are trekking through a dangerous world, and more like you are acting out a script. Deadlight's engrossing visuals make it fun to play the part, but you'll wish you had more lines.

Deadlight tries to do something new with the zombie genre by paying more attention to solving puzzles and using platforming elements to get away from zombies. While I applaud the effort, it just falls flat. Dodging the fast, pack-forming zombies is extremely frustrating, and if caught by one, you are as good as dead. Topped with jumping that requires absolute perfect timing, the result is multiple retries that add frustration and suck the fun out of the game.

Uiteindelijk had Deadlight zoveel beter kunnen zijn. De potentie druipt er vanaf, maar weet zich bijna nooit echt te manifesteren. De liefde die in de grafische vormgeving is gestoken, vind je niet genoeg terug in de gameplay. Nu is Deadlight vooral een mooi spel, en niet zozeer een uitdaging voor je verstand of reflexen. Een dwalende ziel die zich maar met moeite op de been weet te houden in de wereld van spellen.

A l'image des zombis, ni vivants ni morts, Deadlight tombe dans la fosse des productions ni mauvaises ni bonnes, prometteuses mais pas si marquantes à l'usage. On ne lui enlèvera pas sa réalisation, ou son gameplay correct et plutôt varié, mais le titre ne réussit pas à convaincre sur son background post-apocalyptique convenu et mal amené, pas plus qu'il ne dégage un tant soit peu de surprises. Cela ne vous empêchera pas de vous amuser, c'est vrai, mais si vous avez déjà essoré les jeux du genre, vous ne devriez pas avoir de difficultés à torcher celui-ci. Dans ce cas, comptez moins d'une soirée pour (en) finir (avec) Deadlight - et vu son originalité, vous n'êtes pas prêts de le refaire.

Deadlight er et pent zombiespill med lite action, lite gåteløsing og en uengasjerende historie. Det føles veldig tidkrevende, på tross av at det bare er 4-5 timer langt, og er heller ikke spesielt givende. Om du likevel har litt penger til overs er det verdt å spille hvertfall første del av historien. Her klarer de å engasjere, og vanskelighetsgraden er ikke verre enn at du kan komme deg gjennom det meste uten å dø alt for mange ganger.

Deadlight avait tout pour devenir un bon candidat au Summer of Arcade annuel de la Xbox avec ses zombies en premier plan et sa lisibilité volontairement amoindrie. Stylisé sans trop en faire, il s´évertue à utiliser des mécanismes dignes de Prince of Persia qui semblaient être perdus dans nos mémoires. Comme si le bon vieux temps était venu percuter de plein fouet un monde au bord du gouffre.

Deadlight shows a lot of promise but ultimately falls short. Frustrating mechanics and design elements that shift away from its initial premise make for a less tantalizing experience. It’s not all bad however, as the graphics are really top notch and the depiction of a destroyed Seattle is a terrifying and strangely beautiful sight. If you’re the kind of person who needs to absorb any and all piece of zombie-related media then by all means, pick it up. However, yaking the price point ($15) and its issues into consideration, it might be best to wait for it to go on sale.

Das Spiel hat trotzdem noch viele optisch eindrucksvolle und im Ablauf unterhaltsame Momente zu bieten, zum Beispiel, wenn man mal wieder Zombies in Fallen oder vor den Vorsprung lockt, auf dem man steht, nur, um sie dann mit einem weiten Sprung hinter sich zu lassen. Dann ist das Gefühl, gejagt zu werden, eine absolute Bereicherung für Deadlight. Auch das eigentliche Klettern, Rennen, Springen fühlt sich gut an, sofern man nicht gerade wieder fluchend einem gnadenlos unerbittlichen Zeitlimit in Form feuernder Helikopter oder einstürzender Levelarchitektur hinterherrennt, bis man die jeweilige Szene auswendig gelernt hat.

Deadlight shines in its detailed world-building: The art direction, IDs, diary entries and pieces of hidden lore are glorious. It's the gameplay that fails to live up to the standard of these beautiful fragments, with unresponsive controls and frustrating scenarios that can't decide if they want to be puzzles or action sequences. That said, I enjoyed Deadlight despite the times I wanted to chuck the controller. Maybe the game was trying to teach me a new, zombie-repelling technique for the living room. Maybe.

As one of the ‘chosen few’ Summer of Arcade titles, it’s easily to come away from Deadlight more than a little disappointed. There are sparks of inspiration here and a beautifully realised setting, but beneath that veneer of intrigue lies gameplay that just doesn’t cut it with the best. There’s just about enough to enjoy in this broken version of 80’s Seattle, just expect to be frustrated in digging out the treats.

Tequila Works, which counts former Blizzard, Quantic Dream and Weta staff among its number, is clearly a talented and passionate team, and has made a striking debut with Deadlight. While it doesn’t quite live up to its early promise, it proves a great deal more than just another zombie game.

There aren't many action games in this particular mold to begin with these days, so those with fond memories of Deadlight's spiritual predecessors will likely have a reasonably fulfilling few hours here. Without an existing sense of nostalgia for the source material, though, you may find Deadlight's minor flaws collectively outweigh all the things it does right. It's one of those cases where Xbox Live Arcade's requirement to offer a free demo with every game is especially valuable.

Despite the mournful soundtrack and muted colour, it's a game with a mischievous heart too – a rooftop chase scene parodying endless runner Canabalt, complete with frightened doves, providing a standout moment, alongside some 80s LCD handheld game secret collectibles, playable from the title screen. Still, it's a game in which an early sense of delight and intrigue soon turns to weariness, the standout scenes and ideas failing to compensate for an increasing sense of deja vu with each new wall run and puzzle, wrapped in a tired storyline that does little to propel you forward. In the end, it's the zombies that make you flee to the conclusion, rather than the design that draws you towards it – a subtle distinction perhaps, but a crucial one.

Deadlight attempts to do too many things, and falls short in perfecting any of them. It's overwhelming in its ambition, but it’s this lack of focus prevents it from being anything more than an interesting, flawed experience. If the story was compelling and well-developed we’d have been interested in the journey, but it wasn’t. If the gameplay was tighter we would have been able to forgive the uninteresting narrative and dialog. Even with this lack of focus Deadlight is a fun game with wonderful fast platforming segments and magnificent art direction. But in the end the style stands tall, and the substance is but a shadow of what it could have been.

Your reward: a face-palming moment of sub-Hollyoaks melodrama and a mission clock that reveals that of the seven or so hours you spent retrying, you've only experienced about two and a half hours of actual narrative. You'll see some glorious stuff in that time, but it's difficult to shake the idea that you'd get the same calibre of storytelling from a petrol-station DVD and still have enough money left to buy a drink afterwards. Deadlight gets a lot of things right, and is a game worth playing, but the storytelling never lives up to the presentation.

Deadlight is clearly inspired by cinema, and it's this affectation which creates both the game's strongest and weakest elements. The visual design is absolutely sublime, but these cinematic influences create a wonky gameplay experience much too afraid to do anything but guide the player through tedious chunks of unwanted script. Deadlight does not create a compelling narration no matter how hard it tries, and it's galling to see Tequila Works choose to sacrifice an entertaining game in the process.

Deadlight è un titolo dalla doppia anima: da un lato presenta un gameplay piuttosto piatto, che non riesce a distinguersi come platform particolarmente innovativo o divertente, ma dall'altro regala un'atmosfera post-apocalittica horror degna di un blockbuster cinematografico, corroborata da una trama non particolarmente profonda, ma che offre un paio di colpi di scena molto validi.

Deadlight starts with a solid idea but never lives up to its potential. Outsmarting zombies, rather than facing them head on with whatever weapon is handy, is a great idea, but the game's environmental puzzles feel too samey after just a short while. The story has its own share of clever seeds, but it's presented so poorly that you probably won't bother to find them. Without satisfying mechanics or narrative, there's nothing pushing you forward towards Deadlight's conclusion.

Deadlight isn’t a poor game, just average. Mediocre. Inoffensive. If Deadlight developers Tequila Works developed another game with some more original ideas, I’d like to play it.

Deadlight has all the style, substance, and gameplay you could want, with none of the originality you need. The word "cliché" never left my mind, even for an instant. If you loved Limbo and want to recreate that experience, you could spend $15 on this, or you could just play the game you already own and have a much better time.

Deadlight is a disappointing mess of a game, a title worth less than the sum of its parts. There is a solid concept behind it, but the game is bogged down by sluggish controls and a generic storyline. It's also awfully quick – a slightly more ponderous run through the game took just under four hours, which for 1200 Microsoft points, just isn’t worth the value. Deadlight could have been something great. Unfortunately, it's as mindless as the zombies it features.

The cinematic atmosphere is highly impressive throughout, but that’s about the only thing that is in this weirdly inconsistent 2D survival horror.

Had Deadlight been able to replicate the brilliance of its first third for the rest of its adventure, this would have been a very different review, one hailing the next best zombie game ever made. Unfortunately, a beautiful intro does not a great game make, and the full product is a disappointment to say the absolute least. Tequila clearly has a lot of talent and an ability to craft genuinely intimidating, memorable environments -- Deadlight demonstrates the wealth of inventiveness the studio possesses. Yet it feels squandered on lazy design in the second chapter and mistreatment of player trust in the third.
