So overall, Soccer Up is OK. The unique ball control sets it apart a bit, but I don't know that that will be enough of a selling point to really generate a lot of interest here.

Stick with games like Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth to get your gothic action fix on WiiWare and leave this clone behind to atone for its failings.

Better options might be to stick with other, more notable WiiWare point-and-clicks like The Tales of Monkey Island or Strong Bad series, or, if you really wanted to walk a mile in Fenimore's boots, just order a copy of the 2004 PC version of this game. It was budget-priced back when it launched six years ago, and now just a quick consult of your favorite search engine will let you find it new for around two dollars – a fifth of the price you'd pay here on Wii.

So, I'm impressed. Hello Flowerz surprisingly checks in one of the deepest and most engaging, yet most subtle experiences in the DSi Shop. It's not for everyone, but if you're at all a fan of gardening, invest 500 Points here with confidence.

Maybe that's why board game conversions have found more of a home over on Xbox's Live Arcade service -- there's just more effort put into them there. WiiWare developers have got to learn that players want more than the bare minimum here, especially when the system's capable of more. Give us higher end visuals -- the Wii can handle it. Give us the ability to play against opponents who aren't in the same living room with us -- again, the Wii can handle it. And, for goodness sakes, at least give your penguin characters a shot at personality by at least giving them names. It'd be much more fun to yell "Hey! That's my fish!" if I knew who I was supposed to be.
