Duskfade hits the nail on the head in trying to be a new thing, and not just nostalgia-bait. It’s not afraid to make itself open to new and young players.

Un título simpático, colorido y que abraza clásicos como Kingdom Hearts. De lo más entretenido para pasar unas cuantas horas pegado a la pantalla.

Duskfade isn’t simply a love letter to the action platformers of the ’90s and early ’00s; it’s an ode to them, bringing their influences together so effortlessly that the result feels like something you’ve played before and something new and exciting at the same time. Weird Beluga has clearly spent years studying what made those games so special, but Duskfade never feels trapped by its influences. Instead, it takes those ideas and gives them new life, building a world and adventure that feels familiar without sacrificing its own identity.

Duskfade is a lovely return to a style of game that deserves more attention. Its combat is fairly simple and its influences are obvious, but neither issue stopped me from loving the adventure. The gorgeous environments, smart level design, satisfying secrets, and excellent traversal make it an easy recommendation for anyone who misses classic 3D action platformers.

Duskfade offers a heartfelt, emotional story, gorgeous visuals, excellent boss design, and plenty of hidden goodies to keep you scouring its beautiful locales for a couple dozen hours. The voice acting can occasionally feel a little awkward, and combat timing can take some getting used to, but it still remains one of the best platformers of the year.

Duskfade is a charming love letter to PS2-era platformers that skillfully weaves nostalgic inspirations with fluid movement and a genuinely heartwarming story about time and moving forward. While its combat leaves a bit of room for improvement, Weird Beluga has crafted an exceptionally fun, vibrant adventure elevated by fantastic platforming and flawless camera control that genre fans will love completing to 100%.

Duskfade is a well-made 3D platforming adventure game, taking clear notes from larger titles in platforming controls, music, and character design. For all its impressive visual style and ease of control, it falls short of an engaging combat system, which sours the experience during enemy wave encounters.

Duskfade succeeds because it knows what kind of game it wants to be. It doesn’t try to reinvent 3D platformers or compete with big AAA productions. It takes the most enjoyable parts of the genre and builds a modern adventure around them. It’s not a perfect outcome, but it’s accessible, fun, and packed with the kind of personality that made classic platformers special.

Duskfade feels like a throwback to action platformers from the PS2 era, and while it stumbles in some areas, it's a lot of fun.

We don't quite get as many family-friendly games as we used to, which makes Duskfade a breath of fresh air thanks to its visuals, storytelling, and engaging platforming, despite its otherwise-shallow combat.

Duskfade is a charming, enjoyable, and well-made little platformer that falls just short of being a true classic. The platforming and combat are fun, the story is well told, and the game's overall presentation is delightful. It's held back by stiff combat and tedious backtracking, but neither problem is enough to completely undermine the experience. If you're looking for a PS2-style platformer with a Kingdom Hearts flavor, Duskfade hits most of the marks and is absolutely worth checking out. It might not be the most original game on the market, but it is a darn fun one.

Duskfade wears its Kingdom Hearts inspiration proudly, blending fast-paced combat with collectathon platforming and a charming time-themed world. While its slow progression and lack of a map can frustrate, it’s still a fun, brisk adventure that does enough to establish an identity of its own.

Duskfade succeeds in delivering an experience that brings back the joy of the golden age of gaming. It does so through classic gameplay that combines enjoyable platforming, simple combat, and exploration, alongside a beautiful art direction and a soundtrack that perfectly suits its world. Despite some shortcomings, such as repetitive enemies, the ease of certain challenges, and weak voice acting, it remains an enjoyable experience that reminds us that games do not always need to be complex to offer an experience worth remembering.

To be clear, Duskfade is a perfectly competent 3D platformer. Fans of the genre will no doubt find that there is some fun to be had with it. However, those expecting innovation won't really find it here. Basic combat encounters become dull pretty quickly, and platforming can be less precise than expected thanks to the protagonist's floaty jump making things far trickier than they need to be. Boss fights are a high point, with each encounter well thought-out, but Duskfade's world is nowhere near as intriguing to navigate as it first appears. There's not much in the way of exploration to be had, or secrets to find, and the game's largely forgettable cast and narrative do little to ensure Duskfade doesn't quickly fade into a distant memory once the credits roll.

Duskfade's wonder and whimsy will enchant you at the first half of its storybook experience, while its second half will pull the rug from under your feet and test your patience, and not in a good way.
