Invizimals isn't the most portable-friendly game, but it is easily the most impressive augmented reality game, let alone on the PSP.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate

While not a horrible game by any means; Wanted: Weapons of Fate has its share of fun action-packed moments that runs out of steam way too quickly. With linear levels and poor enemy AI, it’s hard to enjoy the game’s awesome gunplay. This one is worth the look if you liked the movie and the graphic novel.

Other than its graphical and mechanical shortcomings, it is designed and presented very well, and I would strongly recommend this to its intended age of 4-8 (it says so on the box). The games and levels are broken up into short chunks and the narrator is constantly giving positive feedback, so this game will not overbear a child. Also, the cut scenes and characters are very charming and unique. Ultimately, this game fails to take advantage of the Wii's motion capablilities or graphic's engine, something that could have made this a really great, truly interactive game for young kids; but instead it feels more or less like a PC port from 10 years ago. However, there is still a lot of enjoyment that younger kids will find in the game's animated characters and coloring games, and the humor is clever enough at times to hold parents' attention as well.

Torrente

Torrente is a first person/third person action game. Playing the title hero, Torrente is a foul mouthed, alcohol consuming, over weight womanizer who was disgracefully fired from the police force. Now, acting as a private detective, Torrente is handed jobs by his police friends that may help him get reinstated on the force. Of course, given the absurd nature of some of the mission, the over the top violence and sheer insaneness of it all, I had to wonder why bother.

Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner

Overall, MoM actually will get your attention up front and will probably turn out to be enjoyable the first couple of times that you play it, but the camera issues, goofy physics, horrible looking and acted cutscenes, and just overall boring gameplay after about the third or fourth time you play it due to repetition probably won’t warrant a purchase. Monster Truck fans will probably get the most enjoyment out of it, but it may even be a little less than what they expect as well. If you feel the urge to play MoM, I strongly suggest a rental.

Now what we have all been waiting for…the graphics. Everything was pleasing to the eye, from the units to the interior and exterior environments and maps. Camera position allows you to get better perspectives of the situation though some may complain that it can be a little awkward. I couldn’t have asked for a better weather and day/night system, which added incredible reality to the game. Also, I can’t stress enough how detailed this game is, neglecting the fact that the highest resolution it offers is 800x600. Sound is also outstanding, bringing the familiar sound of impending doom and rising hero. The voices were ok but I was hoping for more. Sound FX was also ok though with such a game like this, there should be no competition.

Praetorians is the kind of game that will not set the RTS afire with innovative gameplay, but what it does manage to do is bypass the micromanagement civilization side of these styles of game and ask players to use their brains to outthink, not simply outmuscle, the opposition. Yes, you will have to build siege machines, and you will have to recruit new blood for your army, but all that is within the spectrum of what armchair generals should expect to do.

Yes some gamers will find this annoying. I say get over it. By the third mission, you will be familiar with the keyboard anyway. The learning curve is very high, but well worth it. Trust me. For those of you who need it. The quicksave, and quickload hotkeys are control s, and control l. You will need them, because this game is frickin’ hard. It’s not impossible just hard. Now don’t panic. All this means is that it’s that much more rewarding when you beat a level without using a cheat code. So plan your strategy, and go get it done.

But I could not help but enjoy this program, even with the blood and mutilation modes turned on, because of the ‘feel’ of the game (the nice sense that the world was one where common elements, like light and even gravity – throwing objects is very cool – have meaning).

The FPS elements are stock and the levels have a feeling of guiding you through the game because the maze of ruins you encounter will only allow you to go in one continuous direction. Still, the controls are easy to learn and the game does have its share of heart-start moments.

Had the controls been a bit more responsive for the ship-flying portions and the robot smashing just a tad more smoother, we would have had the perfect robot action game this side of "Metal Arms: Glitch in the System."

Murder in the Abbey is almost exactly the type of game I most like, with great atmosphere and storytelling. I really enjoyed the cartoon animation, too. However, the conversations can get a bit lengthy and even I got tired of the endless talking sometimes. It really needed more puzzles, as well. But still, this is one of the more interesting adventure games to come from The Adventure Company lately. A nice week’s worth of gameplaying.
