Rally Rock 'N Racing

Rally Rock ‘N Racing is a budget title, and the price should be applauded. However, the problems that litter this game are numerous and ultimately, they suck any fun from the experience. The vehicle handling is lamentable, and the circuits look like something you could put together yourself in a track editor. Graphics and effects are decent, but Rally Rock ‘N Racing is quite simply a chore to slog through. Mix in pathetic AI, pointless unlockable vehicles, average sound effects, and no online multiplayer and you’re left with a game that has very few redeeming features. Unfortunately, Rally Rock ‘N Racing is one to avoid, even if you’re thirsty for more rally action on your Switch.

I really like and still enjoy playing Debris Infinity on Nintendo Switch. It’s a great pick up and play. It’s super cheap for what's on offer for people who love score chasing or shooters. I think they will get a lot of mileage out of this little gem. Do yourselves a favor and pick it up – it’s loads of fun in singleplayer and local multiplayer. If you love getting high scores or competing with others through online leaderboards, then this is a must buy!

Legendary Eleven

Legendary Eleven, at this moment in time, is a game which is not fit for purpose. In my view this is a real shame as it has a lot of promise. When it works, passing is pretty crisp, goals feel good when scored and it does quite well at recreating the beautiful game with a rather decent aesthetic. Of course it's no Pro Evo or FIFA but then it's not aiming to be. It's an arcade football game which is just nice and simple. With the bugs fixed you are looking at a game that would just about be worth your hard earned cash but I can only review what's in front of me so until the patch is released it really is best avoided. As the bug is so game breaking we are prepared to revisit when it's fixed to see what the state of play is then and will update this review at that time.

Overall, if you want a real retro experience from 30 years ago, this will be right up your alley. Three lives, no continues and solid shooter mechanics, players of a certain age will lap this up. I enjoyed it and I wish I had more time to learn the levels better. It’s one of those games you need to spend a lot of time with. It looks good for the most part and sounds nice too, but players with less patience will probably want to stay well away from this one. While I’m not berating the high difficulty, I’m berating the lack of accessible options which is really bewildering oversight and really limits the game’s potential audience.

Yesterday Origins

Overall I think Yesterday Origins is a great experience for point and click adventure game fans. It presents a solid package very reminiscent of the second era of adventure gaming. If you liked Microids other efforts like the Syberia series, you’ll do well to pick this one up too as it’s more of the same, but potentially even better. Sure, a few presentation issues mar it a little as well as bizarrely sluggish controls but adventure fans will still enjoy it, even if it’s not going win any more people over to the genre. Still, if you want to settle down with a nice coffee or tea and play this one, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, as long as you don’t mind checking a guide once in a while.

A Hole New World

I’m not going to lie when I say that had A Hole New World been released on the NES back in the day, there’s no doubt in my mind it would be considered a classic of the console along with Mega Man, Castlevania, Zelda and so on. Times have moved on however and even though there’s a case of quality retro about it, it’s still held back by some of the pet peeves of the era. It has some nice visuals, music and decent controls but I think modern gamers won’t have the patience for it and that’s including me, the last two levels really soured my enjoyment since they went about difficulty in the wrong kind of way. I’m pretty sure retro fiends will still get a kick out of it though. It’s above average, bordering on good, but not quite there for me. A few tweaks and it could have been an excellent retro adventure.

There is a decent little game here and one I could see some enjoying if they had an evening to spend playing this very slow paced game. Make no mistake getting around feels tiresome at times and you just wish the character could run. There are some frustrating design choices made here which you won't realise until it's too late for example using too many coins on saves. Slowdown also reared its ugly head to my dismay. If you fancy a little mystery where you will get to interact with all manner of weird characters, solving some puzzles and enjoy a slower pace of game then this could be for you.
