Com um gameplay freneticamente divertido, The Knight Witch é uma das maiores surpresas de 2022. Digno de todo e qualquer elogio que venha a receber, o jogo não é apenas um somatório de outros jogos clássicos e outros mais recentes. Ele é, antes de tudo, respeitoso com o legado da desenvolvedora e com o legado dos shoot 'em ups. Ao todo narrativo e mecânico, agregam-se ainda um deleite visual com seus cenários desenhados à mão e muitas singelezas sonoras em forma de canções instrumentais ao longo das suas cerca de trinta horas de jogo.

The Knight Witch is a good game with well-executed familiar mechanics. Combat, especially in the bigger and more open areas, is a joy, even when it’s against a tough boss with some dirty tricks up his mechanical sleeve.

The narrative is interesting enough, even if some of the fourth-wall-breaking might be hit or miss, and the game looks impressive. Play it in short sessions, with a clear goal in mind and a willingness to tweak approaches on failure (don’t forget about the cheat options). The Knight Witch offers a good mix of action and exploration, even for players who have little experience with the genre.

Hand-drawn Indie titles will always have a soft spot in my heart. And The Knight Witch is particularly up my alley and I really want to recommend it to everyone I know. The story comes off as a little disjointed at first but I advise you to stick with it. Once you get the full picture, later on, everything will make a lot more sense. Trust me on that one.

Super Mega Team has thought of everything, and despite The Knight Witch getting harder with every new area, the satisfaction of clearing a level and defeating a boss makes you feel amazing. The art style is spectacular, and despite there being no dialogue, I fell in love with Rayne and her way of looking at things, along with the colourful cast of characters that support her. Combat and movement is tight and fluid, allowing the key combat concepts to work well together, and with every victory comes a great sense of accomplishment.

Despite the few things that I would have liked to see differently, I adored this latest project from Super Mega and Team17. There's witty humor in the characters' dialogue, we see friends to enemies and enemies to friends, we explore everything from a desolate wasteland to city streets to beneath the surface of the lake, and the resolution of the story will leave you feeling wholesome and complete. If you crave a little bit of magic and a whole lot of adventure, "The Knight Witch" will not steer you wrong.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with The Knight Witch. It takes two well-known genres and successfully blends them to create a unique and fun experience. I would recommend this game to just about anyone, but especially fans of either Metroidvanias and/or bullet hells. If you’re not familiar with these genres, this game feels like a lighter version of both of them, meaning it would be a good way for players that are interested to get eased in.

Por trás de sua bela arte, The Knight Witch abriga um jogo frenético e profundo, tanto pela personalidade de sua história, quanto por sua capacidade de combinar diferentes gêneros em uma jogabilidade robusta. Desse modo, manifestando-se enquanto uma verdadeira Bruxa Guerreira, a valente Rayne lança um poderoso feitiço e cria uma jornada que se mostra capaz de encantar a todos no Switch.

In conclusione, The Knight Witch, gioco realizzato da un team di veterani del mondo videoludico, ha assolutamente sconvolto le nostre aspettative, posizionandosi tra i migliori titoli per 2D degli ultimi anni. Il complesso lavoro di game design ha dato i suoi frutti, creando un prodotto dalla varietà assoluta di ambientazioni, abilità, poteri, scelte stilistiche, meccaniche di gioco e trovate innovative, il tutto accompagnato da un reparto grafico e da delle musiche molto curate e ben realizzate. Ovviamente, come in tutti i titoli che cercano di innovare, anche questo presenta delle problematiche che siamo sicuri saranno in grado di risolvere col tempo. Nonostante questo, il gioco resta un capolavoro per il suo settore e merita di essere giocato.

Ya no es que los metroidvanias tengan un tirón que espero siga durando muchos años. No es tampoco el hecho de hibridar géneros, aunque aquí se consiga un plus de originalidad por ello. Es hacerlo de forma muy buena, en una aventura muy divertida. The Knight Witch no solo propone metroidvania, bullet-hell y deck-building card, es que lo hace con muchísima soltura, comprendiendo lo que es, y adáptándose perfectamente a cualquier espectador que disfrute de las aventuras, y no circunscribiéndose a los habilidosos con el pad o los jugadores nichos de shmups, pero dándoles también desafío y carnaza. Si la propuesta te atrae y llama la atención, pero piensas que puede no ser para ti este juego 'de naves' metroidvania, hazme caso, sí que lo es.

Si te gusta minimamente el género o no te importa un buen desafío, The Knight Witch es una compra casi obligatoria. Un producto nacional con un acabado casi perfecto.

The Knight Witch es una divertida combinación de metroidvania y bullet hell que desde los primeros minutos emociona, a pesar de tener una capa de construcción de mazos que se dificulta mirarla en los momentos más tensos, le aporta una variación bastante amena a la fórmula.

Sin más, este ha sido mi análisis de «The Knight Witch» para PlayStation 5. Si os gustan los juegos indies y además queréis apoyar a un estudio español y mínimamente os llama la atención su propuesta, no dudéis en haceros con él. Está disponible en absolutamente todas las plataformas a un PVP de 19.99€. A decir verdad, conforme lo jugaba, ya estaba rezando por una secuela…

Pocos títulos son capaces de medir tan al milímetro la forma en que mezclan los géneros. The Knight Witch lo hace con una maestría que asusta. Es una propuesta desafiante, por momentos frustrante, pero siempre estimulante. Un lanzamiento español indispensable para lo que queda de 2022 y, con suerte, para la posteridad.

Finalmente, no podemos decir otra cosa del juego, que es una pasada, divertido a rabiar y que sabe aprovechar su sistema a la perfección, la diferencia estará en que seas más o menos habilidoso.

Una grata sorpresa lo que ha realizado el estudio Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team con este juego, es una de esas experiencias a las que debes ofrecerle una oportunidad seas o no un amante de está mezcla de géneros, que ha dado como resultado un título redondo, que se siente fresco, dinámico y sobre todo muy exigente, por lo que posiblemente pueda no ser del gusto de todos. Es innegable la calidad que posee el juego y queda demostrado en cada uno de sus apartados, la escena indie obtiene otro gran juego que podemos disfrutar.

Una joya realmente preciosa en lo artístico, emotiva en los narrativo, y particular lo jugable. Que desde hoy mismo es marcada como una de las experiencias indie de este año. Dentro de un género que no para de sacar obras maravillosas que siempre sorprenden por algo. Y ya os digo que The Knight Witch lo vuelve a conseguir.

Anche il comparto narrativo merita interesse. La storia proposta è piacevole e ricca di elementi interessanti, oltre ad un tema di estremismo “macchine-natura” che permette uno spunto di riflessione sulla società contemporanea. Personalmente, avrei aumentato l’attenzione sul tema della morale, ma reputo il risultato finale estremamente divertente. Acquisto consigliato.

The Knight Witch es un título con una apariencia infantil, con escenarios coloristas y amigables. Sin embargo, sus mecánicas y nivel de dificultad están más cercana de un título Souls que de un plataformas para niños. La inclusión de una mecánica de mazos en los poderes de nuestra bruja y la aleatoriedad de los mismos hará que buscarle el patrón o combinación “fácil” al juego sea imposible. Es un título que gustará a un amplio abanico de jugadores, a los amantes de los shoot’em up, de los metroidvania y por supuesto a los locos de los desafíos complicados. El título me ha transmitido la misma sensación que cuando jugué Tunic. Pero no por su mecánica de juego, sino por su elevada dificultad en contraste con un diseño artístico tan infantil. The knight Witch es, sin duda, un temible lobo con piel de cordero y supondrá un reto para todo el que se atreva a jugarlo.

The Knight Witch es un juego que tiene mucho que ofrecer tanto a los fans de los Bullet Hell, como de los Metroidvanias. La jugabilidad y los controles son fluidos, la historia y los combates tienen acción y un grado de dificultad que te reta a intentarlo nuevamente y cuenta con un gran margen para la exploración, por lo que es un nuevo indie que promete horas y horas de entretenimiento.

The Knight Witch is a very well-made game that takes two very different genres and binds them together with a fair bit of success. You really have to be into both Metroidvania-style games and bullet-hell shooters to get into this one, but if you can check off both of those boxes without much thought, then this is a slam-dunk pick-up. It’s not the lengthiest of games, but it’s certainly quite satisfying thanks to its solid gameplay and charming presentation.

Overall, The Knight Witch was a thoroughly enjoyable experience that does enough to stand out within a competitive field. While it might not have the most spectacular narrative that does reach too far beyond the surface, The Knight Witch always keeps things fresh, and provides an engaging and flexible combat system within levels that never really feel stale.

The game’s eeriest moment is attuned to the politics of denial and unresolved emotions. The final boss, a manifestation of the existential crisis that faces the planet, is extremely hard. It’s far easier to accept The Knight Witch’s offer for Rayne to just walk away from this battle and enjoy the next few years, hoping that maybe one of her allies can stop the world from ending. But that leads to an unsatisfying ending, with Rayne haunted by the question: “Was there more that I could have done?” This narrative beat is a bleak and brutal reminder that if we all keep blithely enjoying our lives instead of fighting the toughest of battles, we may come to regret it.

Un juego sorprendentemente sofisticado y que llega a un resultado muy definido a partir de una mezcla de ingredientes que en realidad podría haber dado cualquier cosa. Es un juego que parece no dejarse nada para después; sin perder tiempo, muestra sus cartas a buen ritmo y se guarda lo justo para quienes estén tocados por el mal del completismo, como es mi caso: vi los créditos por primera vez a las ocho horas y el 81% completado, y ahora llevo once y alrededor del 93% y tengo la sensación de que todavía me queda alguna sorpresa interesante por descubrir. Es bonito, pero el juego de Super Mega Team también es inteligente, delicado en los detalles que integra en su diseño o su narrativa, fiero cuando las balas vuelan pero preocupado siempre por mantener el equilibrio. Es bonito, pero no solo es bonito; esa es otra combinación que suele funcionar bien en videojuegos.

The Knight Witch es una aventura con tintes de metroidvania muy directa y enfocada a la acción sin muchas complicaciones. Su estupendo trabajo visual y sonoro edulcoran una experiencia de la que no queremos despegarnos hasta acabar gracias a su bien medida dificultad recordándonos que la constancia ofrece la satisfacción de superar retos complicados.

The Knight Witch es una experiencia recomendable si quieres algo diferente dentro del género y no te asusta el nivel de dificultad. O si lo hace, los códigos de trucos disponibles en línea te permitirán al menos disfrutar plenamente de la historia y la exploración, y su precio ajustado en la versión digital lo hace aún más atractivo.

Nel complesso, The Knight Witch è un'esperienza raccomandabile, soprattutto se desideri nuovi colpi di scena al classico gameplay di Metroidvania e il livello di difficoltà non ti preoccupa. E anche se lo fa, il gioco ha alcuni fantastici codici cheat per aiutare verso la vittoria. Questo videogioco è davvero bello.

I could’ve done without a water section, but thankfully that is only a small portion of a game that will give you upwards of ten hours of gameplay. That’s a good length too and means that nothing drags on unnecessarily. The world of The Knight Witch is vibrant and well-crafted – if you’re open to a challenge, then it’s worth looking past the few shortcomings.

The Knight Witch è una vera e propria sorpresa! Un titolo che non risulta innovativo sotto quasi nessun aspetto, ma che riesce a prendere canoni di generi diversi e molto distanti tra loro e mescolarli alla perfezione creando un mix impegnativo e divertente, nonché gradevolissimo dal punto di vista del comparto tecnico.

The Knight Witch takes two unlikely genres and mixes them together to craft the most unique of titles.  It starts out easy, but soon ramps up the challenge once it’s got its hooks into you – visually stunning, tale strong and gameplay rich.  It’s well worth spending a few damp cold January evenings getting lost in the magical world of Dungeonidas.

Se trata de un título fresco y original que sabe equilibrar sus diferentes elementos para conseguir un desarrollo variado y, sobre todo, divertido. Aunque eso sí, si queréis ver todo lo que el título guarda… preparaos, porque presenta algunos de los desafíos más extremos que hemos tenido el placer  —o la temeridad— de enfrentar en los últimos años.  

Con un apartado artístico bellísimo como pocos hemos visto este año, The Knight Witch nos presenta una propuesta fresca y valiente que mezcla con acierto tres géneros muy diferentes: Metroidvania, Shmup y Mazos, a los que envuelve en una interesantísima narrativa que esconde, en su sencillez y agradable humor, un peliagudo tratado moral aplicable a nuestra propia realidad. Si bien no es ni mucho menos el mejor juego del mundo en cualquiera de los apartados que toca, sí que consigue marcar la diferencia en su equilibrada combinación de todos ellos. Resulta un título que se siente familiar pero a la vez diferente, y estamos seguros de que el jugador disfrutará una barbaridad… por lo menos hasta que se tope con ciertos picos de dificultad que piden a gritos un balanceo vía parche. En general The Knight Witch es un juego notable y muy recomendable, una cima creativa para Super Mega Team, que es digna de felicitación a la vez que impone al estudio la difícil tarea de superar en lo que esté por venir.

If you are a fan of metroidvanias and shoot ’em ups, it is as if this game was made specifically for you. If you like one of those genres, you may still find joy in this and the challenge of trying something new. However, if you are not a fan of either, you may want to stay away from this one. Despite that, The Knight Witch is an incredible experience with a handful of minor blemishes that will hopefully get patched out down the line.

The Knight Witch is a game I took a complete gamble on, and I’d say I won. By all rights, I shouldn’t have liked it. Only one of the three main components that make up the gameplay is one I like to play. And yet, everything came together in a way that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Knight Witch offers a challenging adventure experience with a refreshing complexity in its story. While the combat could frustrate and overwhelm at times, this game offers a variety of ways to feel empowered and heroic. Players explore several beautiful settings with plenty to explore and discover, in true Metroidvania fashion. I predict this title to end up on several speedrun lists. 

The Knight Witch é um shoot ‘em up ágil e agradável. Seu maior trunfo é o combate ágil que usa tiros, feitiços e uma pitada de bullet hell para criar embates variados e eletrizantes. A dificuldade é intensa e justa na maior parte do tempo, e poder alternar entre mira automática e manual a qualquer momento traz flexibilidade à ação.

The Knight Witch is an intriguing amalgamation of genres. Flying through stages and battling foes feels great. The unique approach to special attacks and the Metroidvania style progression work extremely well. While the narrative intrigues and includes some innovation, its presentation is simple. Regardless of this, the game is a blast and freshens up the shmup genre.

The Knight Witch è un’intrigante fusione di generi. Volare attraverso i livelli e combattere i nemici è fantastico. L’approccio unico agli attacchi speciali e la progressione in stile Metroidvania funzionano molto bene. Mentre la narrazione incuriosisce e include alcune innovazioni, la sua presentazione è semplice. Indipendentemente da ciò, il gioco è un vero spasso e rinfresca il genere shmup.

El alma de The Knight Witch está en los shooter y ese es el público que más lo va a disfrutar, incluso si ve la parte de historia como algo más prescindible que entorpezca el ritmo. Es un título que derrocha toneladas de acción, es exigente y a ratos espectacular; no presenta ningún fallo grave, pero la alta competencia de metroidvanias del mercado -un aspecto en el que The Knight Witch no pretende profundizar más que lo imprescindible- y la dificultad de dar con la dosis justa entre un gameplay arcade y la exploración no lineal puede no ser del gusto de todos los jugadores, incluso si esto no está relacionado directamente con su calidad. En definitiva, un shoot´em up que es más que un "simple" shoot´em up, y un metroidvania que no es como la mayoría de metroidvania que habrás jugado.

The Knight Witch amène un vent de fraicheur dans un genre où il est difficile d’en apporter. Oui, le jeu pourrait en rebuter plus d’un en raison d’une difficulté sommes toute élevée mais mérite votre intérêt. Son humour décapant et ses personnages attachants en prendront plus d’un par surprise. Si vous êtes amateur du genre, le jeu vaut le détour. Surtout que ce n’est pas un style que l’on voit tous les jours. Encore une fois un bon travail de la part de Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team. Désolé, je me devais de nommer le nom du studio une dernière fois. C’est vraiment plaisant.

Te gustan los shoot-em-ups? Dale sin miedo. Te gustan los bullet hell? Dale sin miedo. Te gusta su estética? Pruébalo almenos y dale una oportunidad. Eso sí, si quieres un juego que te ponga las cosas fáciles o que sea asequible y relajado, este sin duda no es tu juego

The Knight Witch can join the ranks of indie Soulslike & search action titles as one of this year’s more challenging offerings. You’ll die countless times getting the hang of the game’s bullet hell patterns, but at the same time find joy and satisfaction in defeating the opposition with your correct choice of Spell Cards and playstyle. If the developers can iron out its difficulty curve and some of its technical kinks like the load times when starting the game and also some weird controller bugs, then we may have another dark horse of 2022’s indie offerings to go alongside Souldiers. 

The Knight Witch seems to occupy a unique niche on the Switch eShop — there’s really nothing else quite like it. It’s not the best shmup nor is it the best Metroidvania we’ve experienced, but its fusion of many core ideas in those genres is interesting and worthwhile. The adventure feels perfectly paced, the action is snappy, and though there are missteps here and there, they shouldn't disqualify The Knight Witch from your attention. If you’re looking for a Metroidvania that mixes things up a bit — and you haven’t been utterly burned out on the genre — we’d suggest giving this a look.

The Knight Witch is a beautiful game that holds a lot of promise with its blend of twin-stick shooting and Metroidvania exploration. I just wish that its gameplay was finer-tuned to not be as clunky and disconnected as it currently is.

The Knight Witch te puede engañar, tras su estética suave se esconde un título exigente con el jugador, donde estaremos rodeados de acción en un ambiente realmente cuidado. Su dificultad plantea un verdadero reto y la mezcla del género metroidvania junto con la influencia shoot’em up te hará disfrutar de sus escenarios para después pasar a la acción y a la tensión mientras vences a tus enemigos.

El equipo de Super Mega Team han conseguido un juego con carácter y bien pulido, el cual debería de tener mucha más repercusión y mérito por parte tanto de los medios, como de los jugadores. The Knight Witch está disponible en todas las plataformas y su duración ronda las 20 horas de juego.

All in all, I came away pleasantly surprised by The Knight Witch. At a time where so many games are vying for your time and attention, a neatly packed present of an indie, clearly made by a team that knows what it's doing and a quirk not found elsewhere makes for a great refresher. While I don’t believe it quite makes the cut as a classic, nor will it make many game of the year lists, it is still well worth your time. Personally, I think Super Mega Team is a studio I'll be keeping track of from here one out.

The Knight Witch is a competently made game with some interesting ideas, but it doesn't always manage to live up to the full potential of them.

The Knight Witch could have been fantastic. It was so dang close to being something very special thanks to its fantastic visuals, great gameplay and compelling story, but it's instead plagued by frame rate issues and awful difficulty spikes rearing their slappable faces to ruined the fun. Fingers crossed Super Mega Team takes the time to thoroughly patch The Knight Witch and make it the game that it deserves to be.

A game seemingly fighting its own presentation and message, The Knight Witch instead alienates the player with smug self-awareness, milquetoast cynicism, and some truly awful genre meshing.
