Podría haberse alargado con algún capítulo más o con escenarios con trampas más complicadas, pero aún así, deja muy buen sabor de boca. Es un título exclusivo para un jugador, no rejugable. Una vez que aceptemos pasar al escenario final, ya no podremos volver al reino en busca de los coleccionables que nos falten.

Effie est un hommage, Effie est un jeu qui n’a pas la prétention d’être tête de gondole, la preuve en est par sa position tarifaire. Effie est un jeu beaucoup trop mignon pour oser dire qu’il ne vaut pas le coup. Effie s’adresse aux jeunes joueurs comme au vieux briscard nourris aux AAA. Effie est un petit bonbon, Effie est une jolie petite aventure. J’ai adoré.

Sin poder aspirar a los niveles de las grandes producciones del medio, Inverge Studios consigue recuperar parte de la nostalgia perdida de las viejas joyas del videojuego. En un medio donde cada vez lo que se intenta es conseguir más y hacer las cosas más grandes es de agradecer obras de este estilo, que quizás debido a las limitaciones, centran sus esfuerzos en elementos muy concretos en los que consiguen brillar con fuerza propia.

Effie is a fun 3D puzzle-platformer which pays homage to the classics of yesteryear perfectly. The vivid and luminous contrast between the choices of colours the developers have opted to use, really makes the games visuals pop out of your screen as every single scene is like a child’s colouring book where they’ve gone crazy with the bright primary colours! If you’re not hovering around the overworld at 100MPH, you’ll be fighting evil fiends, solving simplistic puzzles, or traversing perilous platforming. Although the story is a combination of tales we’ve heard before, it’s fun to play through and held the game together nicely.

For the most part though, Effie is a great 3D platformer in a bright and breezy world. Well except for the dark Woodborn level that’s shrouded in mist anyway. Impressive visuals and generally solid platforming make up for the few frustrations. A special mention to the Windmill Town level for being a great series of set pieces with obvious progression, we’ll leave it to you to discover.

On a less positive note, I did experience some annoying moments throughout the journey. Between getting stuck in a few walls and falling into a pit because I attacked an enemy which made Galand lunge off a cliff, it's clear that the developers could still tighten Effie up a bit to prevent such issues from happening. Another frustrating moment occurred when I was waiting for 2 hazards to clear up before moving ahead yet they weren't in sync thus making timing much more difficult than it should have been. There were a few more irritating aspects and I feel that these should have been ironed out before release. Finally, the boss fights aren't as satisfying as I hoped because they basically involve beating up enemies and avoiding hazards which is too similar to the stages themselves. I would have much rather beat up a selection of actual bosses instead of merely surviving intricate death traps and enemy filled battle arenas.

Effie es, sin ningún tipo de dudas, uno de los mejores juegos que ha salido de la iniciativa PlayStation Talents. Una aventura en toda regla, con plataformeo, acción y puzles que, aparte de ser amena y entretenida, cuenta con un estilo visual único, que la distingue del resto. Lástima que la cámara y el control en los combates no sea un pelí mejor.

Effie es como un arma que apunta sus balas directamente al corazón de la nostalgia. Con él he vuelto a vivir una de las épocas más felices de mi vida, y creo que no le podía pedir más. Los valencianos vuelven a demostrarnos que la simpleza no tiene por qué ser algo malo, y que con poco se pueden conseguir grandes cosas. Quizás no sea uno de los mejores juegos de su género, pero, a diferencia de muchos, Effie tiene un alma que consigue transmitirte junto a la historia de superación de Galand.

Effie is good 3D Platformer that left me with a big smile on face. The Red Plains are a beautiful location to explore, especially given that you have an awesome hoverboard to do it with. The combat does hold it back a bit but the overall package is one that fans of 3D Platformers should definitely experience.

Effie es un videojuego que rinde homenaje y desprende amor por los juegos de antes, de aventuras y saltos. Pese a ser un título indie tiene un acabado muy profesional que nos ha dejado muy buen sabor de boca tras acabar el juego en las 10 horas que ofrece. Es uno de los mejores videojuegos que han nacido dentro del programa PlayStation Talents.

Despite its issues, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Effie. It's not a long game but what it lacks in enemy and combat variety, it more than makes up for in the visual department when it comes to its vibrant world and dungeons. If you are the nostalgic sort and crave a 3D adventure platformer that will remind you of the genre's greats - look no further. Or wait for a hopefully smoother experience on the PC.

Effie es un juego que nos evocará la época de juegos como Jak and Daxter, Maximo, Spyro, etc y hará las delicias de los amantes de las plataformas old school. Es cierto que quizás un punto más de dificultad supondría un desafío mayor, pero no por ello hay que obviar las virtudes de este juego que son muchas. Inverge Studios nos trae un título disfrutable para todo el público ya sea más infantil o adulto que destaca por un apartado gráfico muy colorido y sólido.

Effie è davvero una simpatica avventura platform 3D con una storia godevole, seppur non particolarmente complessa, e un buon level design che si lascia giocare con piacere. Di contro possiamo sottolineare la difficoltà piuttosto bassa sia del combattimento che degli enigmi, oltre che la longevità non elevata. Tuttavia il lavoro di Inverge Studios è da promuovere, sperando che si tratti di un punto di partenza per future avventure sempre migliori.

Un buen juego destinado a los más pequeños. Si bien no es nada novedoso para los veteranos, trae una propuesta de juego distinta a lo que se ve en la actualidad. Agradable experiencia de juego. Visualmente bonito. Cumple con lo que se propone.

But as stifled as it may be, Effie not only achieves its goal of providing some light-hearted platforming frolics, but it also looks the part, putting some titles with far bigger budgets to shame with its surprisingly slick visuals. Coming out of nowhere while riding no coattails (we’re looking at you, Yooka-Laylee), it’s hard to think of a recent experience anywhere near as humble and carefree.

Con sus bondades y carencias, Inverge Studios pone sobre nuestra mesa un juego que amarán los jugadores de la vieja escuela; sin embargo, no podemos dejar de pedir un poco más a un título lanzado para la presente generación. Effie es un juego entretenido, sí, pero que si no eres un auténtico amante de los juegos de este estilo, terminará por aburrirte al poco tiempo. No obstante, no deja de ser una propuesta interesante que a más de uno dejará enganchado a la primera.

As it stands, Effie is fun and charming, and its flaws and frustrations don’t entirely ruin the experience. There is no shortage of 3D puzzle platform games in the world, but Effie stands out as a colorful and vibrantly realized translation of a fairly tale come to life.

En definitiva, Effie nos ha parecido un juego muy especial, y no apto para todo el mundo, ya que sin lugar a duda vive y bebe gracias a conceptos algo pasados, pero que la verdad que muchos jugones echábamos muy de menos hoy en día.

Una aventura bonita, divertida e interesante. Bonita a nivel visual y sonora. Y ante todo un videojuego que se arriesga a aparecer fuera de época, pero sin complejos y con sapiencia de lo que nos quiere dar y nos ofrece.

I enjoyed Effie a lot, mainly because it reminded me of playing games in my youth. Exploring and completing little challenges is fun and rewarding. That's what games should be shouldn't they? Rewarding and fun. A few technical issues aside, if you are looking for an old-school platforming title with quite a bit of gameplay variation then look no further, Effie is a fun game to play.

A pesar de sus fallos, creo que Effie es un juego recomendable y un interesante exclusivo para Playstation 4, es especial para los jugadores casuales o incluso niños, para que conozcan esos elementos clásicos de los videojuegos y que puedan irse interesando más. Yo me divertí mucho y no me queda más que felicitar a las personas que hicieron posible este proyecto.

Effie isn't the most complex action-adventure-platformer out there, and it isn't the most challenging. In this case, the lack of these features actually work well, as Effie delivers on a game where simplicity and nostalgia fuel a desire to continue playing. The game in its entirety is very short, but it definitely is one of the child friendly games that should be on the top of the list for younger gamers and new recruits to the genre.

Not enough of a contrast to make Effie interesting, though. If you’re a 3D platforming addict who needs a fill right now and you’ve played everything else, it may be enough to fill the time, but otherwise, it feels like there are plenty of other games you could be playing instead.

La propuesta de Inverge Studio resulta, en definitiva, bastante meritoria, y es una pena que no haya alcanzado unas cotas de calidad superiores debido a sus limitaciones y problemas de carácter técnico. Por su esencia y bajo nivel de dificultad es un título ideal para los más pequeños o los menos expertos en estas lides, pero pensamos que con un mejor diseño y equilibrio en su desarrollo podría haber hecho disfrutar a un grupo más amplio de usuarios.

Effie es un divertido juego de plataformas y acción con el que disfrutar de principio a fin durante sus aproximadamente seis horas de duración.  Su particular estilo narrativo que te meterá de lleno en  la historia, su preciosos y llamativos gráficos junto con su banda sonora armoniosa, lo convierten en una aventura que no puedes dejar pasar si te gustó Spyro o Jak and Daxter.

Sin duda la primera incursión en Play Station 4 de los patrios Inverge Studios puede mejorar, pero de lo que no hay duda es que en Effie sobra pasión, ganas e intenciones. Y seguro que la próxima vez la vueltecita en coche será para recordarla. Porque cuando la persona que conduce sabe lo que quiere es cuestión de tiempo que se acostumbre a conducir cualquier modelo que le echen.

En conclusión, Effie es una buena aventura, pero no tanto un buen videojuego. Es imperativo separar ambas calificaciones ya que, mientras que por un lado resulta divertido disfrutar del viaje de Galand a lo largo de las aproximadas cinco horas que puede tomarnos culminar su historia, por otro no es entretenido lidiar con aquellos factores que, en el descuido de intentar abarcar más de lo que se debería, quedan relegados a una calidad menor.

Effie is a 3D puzzle platformer with a strong nod to games of yesteryear. Simple combat as well as a lack of any real challenge and samey boss fights make it a title best suited to a younger audience.

Inverge Studios voegt oud en nieuw bij elkaar, maar dit resulteert niet in een bijzondere game. Dat komt doordat er tegenover elk pluspunt weer een minpunt staat. De open wereld is groot, maar is niets meer dan een hub-wereld waarin je zelf kan bepalen welk level je wilt spelen. De platform/avonturen gedeeltes zijn vermakelijk en roepen nostalgische gevoelens op, maar daar staat weer tegenover dat het vechten wat houterig aanvoelt en dat de eindbaas gevechten zwak zijn. Er is zeker wat plezier te beleven aan Effie, maar het had zoveel beter kunnen zijn.

Effie draws inspiration from action/platformers of the past, ands in that respect it is in a position to deliver some enjoyable afternoon sessions. But that's about it. The combat is rather boring, the story mediocre and it never tries to do something new.

The vision of reconciling nuances of more recent 3D action-adventure titles with well-loved elements from adored classics is undeniably a heartwarming one. There’s great enjoyment to be had in playing through this nostalgic nod to the past, but the lacking presence of a challenge truly robs Effie of its oomph. Simplistic puzzles and brainless brawling almost completely eliminate any real sense of gratification or accomplishment. This is most certainly a game better suited for those who don’t appreciate being staggered by more intense difficulties, or a younger gamer seeking a vibrant, spellbinding world to frolic in.

Effie is a decent traditional third person platformer, but could have been so much more. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled in recent years, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that Effie could have been elevated if it had tied the interesting backstory to the game mechanics or development in some way. As it stands, the narrative is totally removed from the game itself and this makes it feel old-fashioned in the wrong sort of way. Not a disaster but a missed opportunity.
