I haven’t played a game that captivated me as much right from the get-go as Denshattack has. The initial premise is so ridiculously outlandish that it’s hard to ignore. But I never even considered it could have such an interesting narrative behind it, one that’s surprisingly tied to real-life issues Japan is facing. My only issue is that there isn’t more Denshattack to enjoy. Undercoders cooked up a proper gem—a game that reminds you not everything has been said and done in gaming, and an absolute must-play that needs to be in your collection right now. It is my Game of the Year thus far, and it could potentially be yours as well.

A perfect mix of colour, sound and satisfying gameplay makes Denshattack! a must-buy, both for completionists and score-chasers, but don’t let the simple controls fool you; this can be a difficult game, especially for those chasing those exclusive high scores!

I may have mentioned several other games in this review; however, Denshattack! is really unlike anything else. There is virtually nothing negative I have to say about this game. Sure, it can get incredibly challenging, which leads to some frustration. But that was down to my own skill issues, rather than any unfairness from the game’s design.
This is an incredibly fun, well-crafted title that I believe could be an indie smash hit. If you have any interest in original game ideas, you absolutely need to check out Denshattack! Who knew extreme sports: trains edition could be so much fun?
Therefore, Denshattack! receives the ThumbCulture Platinum Award!

Combining high-quality production with plenty of innovation, Denshattack! is one of the year's best releases. Its blend of genres delivers a unique experience: traveling across Japan while performing stunts and daring maneuvers aboard a high-speed train. A catchy soundtrack, refined gameplay, and an engaging storyline are just a few of the highlights of this game—a must-play for anyone who loves top-tier fun and excitement!

Denshattack! turns the ridiculous idea of doing tricks with a train into one of the smoothest and most creative games I played this year. Some transitions between rails and walls can be frustrating, but the great flow, absurd levels, and constant chase for better scores made it very hard to put down.

Denshattack! is undoubtedly one of the best games of 2026. This colorful and intense train adventure had me smiling the entire time as I overcame impossible obstacles, faced giant robots, and turned my rivals into allies like something out of a shonen anime. It's a wonderful experience filled with great music and spectacular moments that you simply can't miss.

Denshattack! is a triumph of a game, and manages to take inspiration and turn it into something far greater. A ridiculous premise is given the weight it deserves, ending with a game I can't help but love. While it might not scratch the itch of a 'true' arcade skater game, what is here is fantastic by its own merits. I only felt the game start to creak towards the very end, and I can't fault that when the concept was so obviously at the core of the vision. Nothing feels like fluff, everything is fantastic.

Denshattack! is a game unlike any other, something that needs to be experienced. The arcade-style approach helps players get straight into the game, but the mass variety it offers, simple, punishing gameplay and the addiction it creates will keep players coming back for more. Every aspect of the game carries style and personality, and the music by various gaming musicians and composers is a welcome addition to the vibrant, dynamic aesthetics. It’s time to board the Denshattack! hype train because it’s about to take off at breakneck speeds with no signs of slowing down.

Denshattack is a wild, adrenaline-fueled ride that manages to make driving a train feel like the most intense thing you’ve done all year. While it stumbles slightly by lacking leaderboards and having some awkward UI choices during high-speed segments, the core loop is so satisfyingly deep that it’s easy to look past the rough edges. If you’re a fan of arcade classics and want something that leans fully into vibrant, over-the-top style, this is a total blast. It’s not just a stunt game; it’s a chaotic, rewarding, and deeply fun experience that proves trains should have been doing kickflips all along.

Denshattack! transforms an unlikely concept, performing skateboard tricks with high-speed trains, into one of the year's most inventive indie experiences. Its satisfying trick system, varied boss encounters, stylish presentation, vibrant visuals, and excellent soundtrack create a gameplay loop that remains consistently engaging, while more than 50 stages and numerous optional objectives provide strong replay value. The story, however, relies on familiar battle shonen tropes and forgettable characters, serving mostly as a backdrop for the action. Despite its narrative shortcomings, Denshattack! delivers an original and addictive gameplay experience that stands out through creativity and execution.

Denshattack! may not reinvent the genre, but it stands out thanks to its unusual charm and surprisingly solid gameplay identity. Its ability to reinterpret such a specific and eccentric theme through fresh, layered mechanics makes it a game worth discovering, especially for those who appreciate bold ideas. Some trial‑and‑error moments and the lack of Italian don’t undermine its overall impact: it’s a lively, surprising experience that enthusiastically celebrates Japan’s quirky love for trains. A short yet intense ride, powered by the same wild energy as its acrobatic convoy, and one of the most memorable releases of 2026.

I want to see more games that match the ambition seen here, because gaming as a whole can only benefit when we see more people take risks like this more often. So long as you’re up for a bit of a challenge, you’re gonna have a blast with this game. Don’t think twice about picking this up, because it’s not going to think twice about showing you what it’s all about.

Denshattack is a blast. While it may present a steep learning curve at the beginning, its unique, arcadey gameplay rewards skill and quick thinking in a way that feels old school and fresh at the same time. From its silly, train-tricking premise through its challenging, fast-paced action and colourful presentation, it's a cohesive game that delivers big fun at every turn in the track.

Even so, it is precisely because it doesn't try to be like the others that *Denshattack!* wins you over. In a market where so many titles follow well-worn formulas, this small project chooses to take a chance on a highly unlikely concept—and manages to make it work. For anyone who grew up playing *Tony Hawk*, *Crazy Taxi*, or even *Jet Set Radio*, it’s impossible not to smile throughout the adventure.
I never thought I’d write this sentence, but here we are: now I can say I was around back when a train driver managed to turn a train into a skateboard.
