Without a strong mechanical or narrative backbone, GRIS struggles to do much except look really, really nice. I’d love to see more games that look as interesting as this one does, but not if it means making the same kinds of sacrifices. The tradeoff just isn’t worth it.

I love ’Normal Club in concept, and I almost love it in practice. The writing is fun, it has some great art, and the light puzzles sprinkled throughout the experience are entertaining. That said, all of these things wear thin when you have to tap through it time and time again in search of an ending that is confusingly dissatisfying.

Aside from some nice art, there’s not a whole lot to enjoy about Very Little Nightmares. From top to bottom, the game feels poorly conceived. It doesn’t work as a horror tone-piece, a puzzle game, or a mobile experience, which is a pretty big problem if you’re trying to make a horror-themed puzzle game on mobile.

There's no denying that Asphalt 9: Legends is a cracking arcade racer. While it may lack in a couple of areas and hide some of its progression behind a paywall, it's good fun that you can enjoy properly without feeling like you have to pay to play.

Starman is a fun enough puzzle game, but what really makes it stands out is its fantastic visual design. The black and white aesthetic, combined with richly detailed and interesting environments, makes for a game that you want to stare at all day. Although it isn’t a super long experience, and some of its puzzles can be troublesome, Starman is worth taking a look at.

Space Legend isn't the deepest game out there, but it offers plenty to do without a whole lot of restrictions. As a result, it makes ruling the galaxy feel like a relaxing and fun pursuit.

It’s a mixed bag for Dead Synchronicity then, but one I’d still be tempted to recommend. Its story is distinctively dark and like little else out there, despite initially seeming predictable. Just don’t expect to appreciate it without a little suffering along the way, and try to be ready for it to end abruptly.

It’s not quite enough to distract you from those awkward controls though, and that’s what’s probably going to stop you from being too heavily drawn into MiniDrivers. It’s got the right looks and offers plenty of tracks, but those controls need to be sharper.

That’s the issue with Super Soccer Club, though. It’s mostly a typical freemium strategy game with a soccer overlay. That kind of works and at least makes a change from the usual way of doing things, but it doesn’t feel particularly special. For those looking for a more casual management experience it’ll be fine, but it’s no Football Manager Handheld.

It won’t appeal to the gamers looking for quick success, but for those who want to carefully plan ahead, Heavy Metal Thunder is a satisfying tale. It’s a pleasant change of pace from the usual adventure gamebooks on offer and, while plodding, is very atmospheric.
