Bloodborne meets Legend of Zelda worked out much better than I would’ve ever hoped. The bosses can have quite the malicious edge to them, especially a supremely sadistic second boss, and the platforming can be, quite literally, hit or miss. Nonetheless, the combat is so fluid but focused that it’s hard not to fall in love with how it handles. Cleaving apart zombies, then immediately whipping around to pistol-snipe a wolf all set to a firm and punchy soundtrack is just icing on the cake, especially with the added flavor the better bosses bring to the table. While this journey into the night had a couple of hiccups and could use a bit more prep work, I’d still gladly call this a successful hunt.

Hunt the Night is a love letter to 16-bit era action adventure games. There’s something for fans of almost every genre in this gem of a game. I won’t be surprised if it finds a fairly major audience. It’s a concise synthesis of so many great gameplay and visual ideas. All of my complaints are minor nitpicks. And they’re still just based on my personal preferences. If a physical console version becomes available, I’ll be first in line to buy it.

Overall, Hunt the Night is a great looking action-RPG that will push your skills to the limit but one that is very rewarding when you pass its challenges. It has a dark and beautiful world to explore, challenging combat against great enemy designs, and lots of lore and things to find. If you fancy challenging games then don’t let Hunt the Night pass you by.

Hunt the Night es una aventura llena de acción y oscuridad, un gran desafío tipo soulslikes que exigirá toda tu concentración y habilidad, pero que no se siente injusto en ningún momento. Un sobresaliente en todos sus apartados, desde el sublime diseño de niveles y enemigos finales, a la banda sonora, pasando por un pixel art realmente bonito que destaca en los llamativos escenarios. Aunque el punto más fuerte del título, para mi, es su diversión en los combates. Esquiva, golpea, huye, dispara,… y caza a tu enemigo o muere en el intento.

Es un juego muy recomendable, aunque no es para todos los públicos, ya que los jugadores más inexpertos pueden sufrir y frustrarse. Con muchísimas luces y muy pocas sombras, es sin duda, uno de los mejores títulos españoles de lo que llevamos de 2023 y seguramente de lo que nos queda de año.

Hunt the Night has good core mechanics and an interesting universe to explore. But this is the kind of experience that will cause frustration and players need to be ready to deal with that. A big time and energy investment are needed to master combat scenarios, especially when bosses are involved.

Hunt the Night requires a lot of skill and a lot of patience, but becomes more enjoyable once you learn how everything works.  Everything looks, sounds, and controls great, and you’ll definitely begin to feel the challenge even in the opening areas of the game. Between the interesting puzzles and multiple ways to customize your loadout for dealing with enemies, Hunt the Night is an enjoyable game, though frustrating at times.  If you’re up for a challenge, Hunt the Night will definitely put your skills to the test.

Hunt the Night es un juego de acción aventura que combina un sistema de combate rápido y complejo con un lore de fantasía oscura. Juega como Vesper, virtuosa miembro de la orden de “Los Acechadores”, mientras que exploras el devastado mundo de Medhram, repleto de ruinas y horrores.

Hunt the Night es un videojuego hermoso con una atmósfera inquietante y un mundo fascinante que descubrir. A pesar de algunas asperezas en su jugabilidad y algún que otro pico de dificultad al inicio, desentrañar los misterios de Medhram es maravilloso.

Hunt the Night consegue se destacar em vários aspectos mesmo que falhe um pouco em nortear o jogador, fora isso o jogo merece ser testado e aproveitado, pois ele é capaz de entregar horas satisfatórias de jogatina.

Hunt the Night es un juego que encantará a todos aquellos que busquen una experiencia desafiante. Un apartado visual excelente y una jugabilidad dura, pero nunca injusta, son sus principales argumentos para ganarse un lugar en tu biblioteca.

En conclusión, Hunt the Night es un buen título, que nos ofrece horas de juego en preciosos entornos y contra cuidados enemigos. La historia nos conmoverá y nos forzará tomar decisiones que marcarán nuestro destino junto al del resto de la humanidad. Pero la dificultad y la falta de equilibrio en los combates, le resta jugabilidad. Si eres fanático de juegos estilo souls o disfrutas con juegos difíciles, este es sin duda tu título. Pero no podemos recomendarlo para aquellos jugadores inexperimentados o que se frustren rápidamente.

Hunt the Night ofrece acción oscura intensa con un pixel art soberbio. La ausencia de mapa es un problema pero la experiencia general es intensa y muy satisfactoria.

La conclusión es clara, Hunt the Night es un juego que te exige concentración y adaptación, ya que a veces puede ser un poco duro, pero también es claro y conciso desde el primer instante en lo que ofrece, ya que no busca complacer a todos.

Hunt the Night si muove al passo svelto della sua protagonista, Vesper, senza dimenticare di indugiare sugli aspetti estetici e sonori di una produzione che riesce a costruire un'atmosfera dark fantasy molto ben strutturata e stimolante, sia dal punto di vista dell'esplorazione, sia dalla prospettiva del sistema di combattimento. Vesper è agile e conduce ogni battaglia al fulmicotone, obbligando i giocatori a stare al passo anche nelle situazioni in cui la difficoltà si fa elevata: in più occasioni abbiamo tirato un grosso respiro di sollievo dopo averlo trattenuto a lungo in una boss fight violenta e forsennata, e chi ama le sfide troverà pane per i suoi denti. Eccellente la colonna sonora, con diverse tracce che si sono impresse nella nostra testa e che ci ritroviamo a fischiettare nelle situazioni più disparate. Non possiamo che applaudire Moonlight Games per la sua capacità di creare un action adventure retro nell'estetica, ma capace di guardare a esperienze più moderne - i souls di FromSoftware su tutti - per trarre importanti lezioni su come mantenere i giocatori stregati da esperienze videoludiche dalla difficoltà non banale.

Hunt the Night is an incredibly challenging and fun action game. Progression relies heavily on the player’s skill and understanding of enemy attack telegraphs to avoid damage. Sure, you’ll die a lot, but the knowledge gained from each encounter will keep you alive until the boss fights. Puzzle also has some depth to them, requiring players to be immersed in the world to solve the trials. Luckily, this is easy, thanks to the detailed lore found throughout the game world.

Hunt the Night is a beautiful retro-inspired game with a haunting soundtrack and great controls. It is incredibly hard, so if you aren’t a fan of difficult games that have you challenging the same section, or boss for hours, this may not be a title you will enjoy.

Hunt The Night has combines Legend of Zelda in its puzzles and exploration with Bloodborne in its difficulty and ambiance in a way that will attract fans of either series. Though it might turn off players who are not interested in a lot of difficult boss encounters.

Hunt the Night is a beautiful game that crafts a haunting atmosphere and an engrossing world. Despite some uneven design, the desire to unravel Medhram’s mysteries and see the next inventive boss fight kept me engaged until the end of the 15-hour adventure. If you can stomach the frustrating combat elements, there is a lot to enjoy in Vesper’s quest.

Hunt the Night non reinventa di certo il genere, ma riesce a proporre una validissima alternativa agli altri titoli più in vista che hanno giustamente raccolto molti consensi tra stampa di settore e pubblico. Pur essendo evidenti le sue fonti di ispirazione, l'opera di Moonlight Games segue un percorso tutto suo, con tante unicità e una conduzione di gioco con poche sbavature. 

Hunt the Night é um ótimo game indie com uma aventura sombria e ao mesmo tempo convidativa para qualquer jogador que é fã de um bom desafio. Apesar de trazer muitos elementos diferentes, eles conseguiram fazer isso de uma forma harmoniosa que não causa estranhamento pro jogador. Gameplay gostosa, um bom desafio, mapa convidativo para exploração, ambientação atmosférica, tudo isso junto a uma trilha sonora envolvente. Inclusive, o próprio jogo recomenda que você jogue usando headset, para ficar ainda mais imerso nesse mundo.

Overall, Hunt the Night is a beautiful game with simple yet engaging gameplay that fans of 16-bit action games like Castlevania will enjoy. Although the story is poorly presented at times, it is still interesting, and the world around you is crafted well enough to suck you in even if you have no idea what’s going on. With its stunning visuals, challenging difficulty, and love for classic action games, Hunt the Night is definitely worth a playthrough.

Hunt the Night has a few flaws, but they didn’t stop me from enjoying this dark and challenging action-packed romp. The combat is exciting and strategic, the world design is gorgeous and offers plenty to discover, whilst the clear Bloodborne-inspired vibe ticked plenty of the right boxes for me. Hunt the Night really has a lot going for it, and whilst the difficulty can be a little brutal at times, it never stopped me from enjoying my journey across the dangerous land of Melhram.

Unlike the aforementioned genre of games, Hunt the Night is a bit more forgiving in that the currency you amass while fighting enemies isn’t lost or dropped on defeat. You actually keep all of it and just port back to your last save shrine with all standard enemies respawning and your health potions refilling. This effect also occurs from just using a save shrine so that is where some of the comparisons will come from. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t have a leveling system so the currency is just that, usable at a vendor to purchase some armor or moonstones that provide passive bonuses. Hunt the Night is a very enjoyable experience that often left me feeling frustrated upon defeat but having that outweighed by my need to simply try again and be victorious. Aside from a warning that a little bit of time needs to be taken to gel with the combat and familiarize with the iframes, this is a very easy game to recommend to any fan of the plethora of influences it pulls from.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Hunt The Night and highly recommend players check it out. When the game suggested playing with earphones and a controller, they weren’t kidding. The controls felt tight and accurate to use. I’ve already said my thoughts about the music. I will be doing another play-through to find any secrets I may have missed, that’s for sure. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what Moonlight Games comes up with next time.

Elsker du en tyk, gotisk atmosfære, hektiske, blodige kampe, og timelange, dystre dungeons med neglebidende bosser for enden? Så er Hunt the Night nok lige noget for dig. Men inden du trykker på aftrækkeren, så spørg dig selv, om du har tiden og tålmodigheden til at dø igen og igen og igen, indtil du kender bossers angrebsmønstre så godt, at du lige så vel kunne spille i blinde. Hunt the Night is a challenging and rewarding game with a grim atmosphere, a great art design and a well balanced combat system.

Hunt the Night es una propuesta interesante de aventura pixelada con un combate en cierto modo similar a un hack and slash, que sabe explotar su ambientación y estilo visual para que nos apetezca explorar su mundo. Aunque por separado sus elementos puede que no destaquen en particular, en conjunto nos ofrece una experiencia desafiante y con muy buen ritmo, eliminando de base la posibilidad de ser tan frustrante como otros juegos en los que se inspira, y dándonos opciones para jugarlo de nuevo como nos apetezca.

Hunt the Night is difficult. There’s no sugar-coating that fact, but you’ve got a lot at your disposal, from your melee weapons like swords, daggers, and spears, and ranged weapons. Moonstones and dark magic offer further help, and the status effects certain items have can inflict further damage on the creatures around Medhram. Bosses are wonderfully designed, as is the world, and the lore is an integral part of the story and the puzzles, and everything in-between. Despite struggling with many of the fights, Hunt the Night rewards you for your patience. It doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, but it keeps it rolling in a beautifully crafted world.

Hunt the Night si è rivelato un titolo davvero piacevole, farà la gioia di tutti coloro che attendono un sequel di Bloodborne indubbiamente, ma attenzione a non crearsi aspettative troppo alte, in quanto si è rivelata comunque un’esperienza senza troppe pretese, e anche se i pochi mezzi a disposizione degli sviluppatori sono stati sfruttati nel migliore dei modi siamo pur sempre di fronte a una produzione indie.

Al netto di alcune imperfezioni, Hunt the Night è un prodotto che riesce ad intrattenere per la sua intera durata e oltre, vista la presenza di modalità extra che offrono pane per i denti degli appassionati di soulslike e affini. Il combat system semplice e veloce, gli enigmi ben studiati e la bontà delle boss fight rendono l’opera firmata Moonlight Games un appuntamento da non perdere per i fan del genere, sia su Nintendo Switch che su PC.

Put it all together, and it is not hard to see where Hunt the Night succeeds the most. The way combat flows, the flexibility of how players can build out Vesper to be the Stalker they want, and the delicate balance between challenge and entertainment both in exploration and in battle. While the game may not be for everyone, there is certainly a place in the ranks for a visually beautiful title that plays to its strength in many aspects, even if it feels like we have seen it all before.

Soulslike, plataformas, bullet hell y RPG se dan la mano en una aventura en la que su narrativa y arte te cautivarán desde el primero momento. Un serio candidato a convertirse en uno de los mejores juegos indies de este año 2023.

Yet it’s the quality of the product overall that kept me coming back to Hunt the Night time after time, even in moments of absolute rage. The world-building is excellent. It somehow takes a well trodden path – the supernatural outsider fighting against evil – and makes it fresh with weapon customization, powerful special attacks, and a very unique relationship between Vesper and Umbra. The moments of irritation or lesser excitement are fully counterbalanced by liquid combat and impressive artwork. While it’s only on PC for now, console players should fully prepare for a dive into Hunt the Night later this year as a serious contender for a 2D soulslike that brings the ambience, the horror, and the satisfaction that can only come from an excellent experience.

Hunt the Night est un bon jeu caché sous une épaisse couche de difficulté. Si on affronte un Souls-like dans le but de s’améliorer et qu’on sait que ce sera difficile, c’est une chose. Lorsqu’on débute le jeu en question, c’est déjà un énorme challenge. J’ai persévéré malgré tout pour les fins de ce test. C’est gratifiant et on apprend à maitriser les contrôles qui ne sont pas toujours à point.

Hunt the Night is a game that gets a lot right but doesn't always deliver it in the smoothest way. The core gameplay loop is engaging, the combat system has depth, and the overall atmosphere is strong and consistent. It can be challenging, but often in a way that feels intentional and rewarding. However, technical issues, especially on Switch, and some uneven pacing in both gameplay and storytelling hold it back from reaching its full potential. If you play it on a platform with better performance, you will likely have a much more enjoyable experience. Even with its flaws, there is something compelling here, especially if you are drawn to dark fantasy worlds and fast, skill-based combat.

Hunt the Night proporciona entretenimento durante algumas horas. Imagino que os fãs dos géneros em que se insere conseguirão espremer ainda mais um pouco do jogo. Porém, no geral, penso que este título é puxado para baixo por algumas arestas por limar.

España vuelve a demostrar su maestría para hacer videojuegos con otra grandiosa obra nacional, Moonlight Games puede respirar tranquilo, puesto que ha llevado al publico de PC un digno sucesor espiritual de Bloodborne. Hunts the Night tiene momentos de acción y una preciosa escenografía de corte gótico encapsulado en un ambicioso Metroidvania, que puede ser cruel, pero permisivo con un sistema de combate curtido y un devastador arsenal con el que probar diferentes acercamientos en sus combates. Todo esto mientras pasamos horas leyendo las descripciones de los objetos o las plumas para perdernos de lleno en el fantástico Lore de su universo. Sin lugar a dudas, una excelente alternativa para los fanáticos de los souls-like.

There's something appealing about Hunt the Night's visuals and atmosphere, as well as fun in its fast-paced and dynamic combat. However, issues with bugs, text layout, different commands on the same button, lukewarm dungeons, and the lack of a map system hinder the experience and prevent it from standing out.

Hunt the Night wants to stand beside the gothic greats it so clearly worships, and visually it often succeeds. That said, its haunting pixel art and oppressive atmosphere can’t hide its many rough edges, as beneath the beautiful darkness lies combat that’s stiff and exhausting instead of satisfying, exploration that rarely excites, and technical issues that constantly chip away at immersion. The creation of Moonlight Games is not without merit, but for every moment that captures the spirit of its inspirations, two more remind the player of why these became classics in the first place.

Hunt the Night attempts at being a difficult top-down action game, but because of its frustrating gameplay and poor design the real difficulty is wanting to pick it up again.

Hunt The Night no es un soulslike más. Es más: me atrevo a decir, ni siquiera debería ser encasillado en dicho subgénero. Se trata de una aventura de verdad; de esas que generan charlas entre amigos sobre cómo pasamos tal parte o adónde está oculta la llave de cierto edificio. Cada aspecto del juego se siente pulido y cuidado, desde su precioso pixel art y la banda sonora que acompaña en cada paso, hasta la historia que con sus intrigas nos lleva hacia la batalla final. Salvando algún logro bugeado (algo que, a mi parecer, es irrelevante), Moonlight Games ha dado vida a un gran videojuego. Uno que enfáticamente recomiendo tanto para los amantes de lo retro como para aquellos que buscan un desafío por igual.

Como si fuera una alegoría a su trama, Hunt the Nigt es una lucha constante entre las fuerzas que forma la naturaleza del título. Un ágil combate que descansa en un manto de puzles, con un ritmo sosegado pero intenso. Además, esa composición jugable se acompaña con un excelente apartado artístico, en lo gráfico y en lo musical.

Hunt the Night está destinado a convertirse es un hito dentro del sector del videojuego patrio. Estamos ante uno de los videojuegos españoles más potentes del año que pocos se atreverán a hacer frente. Una aventura llena de acción, plataformas y puzzles que no os dejará apartar la vista de la pantalla. Tanto si sois de las personas que crecieron con este estilo gráfico como sino, no deberíais de perderos esta aventura única. Un videojuego imprescindible que te dará muchas horas de diversión y que además cuenta con algunos modos de juego extra para los que buscan un reto aún mayor.
