Encontrar los caminos adecuados y ver cómo se va formando la historia con cada triunfo es genial. Sorprender con una narración que roza la perfección hace que la experiencia ante este título sea extraordinaria. Etherborn puede ser una buena opción para iniciarse en el complejo mundo de los plataformas en 3D. Igual que para desempolvar nuestro cerebro y hacer funcionar todas nuestras neuronas.

Si bien no se ahonda demasiado en la historia -y promete más de lo que realmente da-, Etherborn da una mirada interesante respecto a la existencia y los ciclos de la vida. Cualquier amante de los puzles debería darle una oportunidad a esta entrega. Etherborn es un juego difícil pero no imposible, que asegura varias horas de diversión frente a la pantalla. La ambientación es sencilla pero explosiva. El entorno es completamente climático a lo que la historia ofrece. La música ayuda a que uno no pierda la cabeza durante los desafíos.

Etherborn es un gran juego de puzzles que nos fascina por su diseño de niveles, su arte, la banda sonora y su tono. Aunque también tenga algunos defectos, es uno de los grandes títulos españoles de este 2019, no hay que perderle la pista a Altered Matter y sus responsables.

Etherborn vale la pena, ya que a pesar de ser un juego corto es muy divertido. Sin embargo, pese a su interesante planeamiento y su muy bien lograda jugabilidad, Etherborn “se queda en el aire”, pues le falta algún otro detalle adicional que permita llamar verdaderamente la atención de aquellos que buscan un juego de puzzle que ofrezca algo nuevo dentro de dicho segmento.

Etherborn es un juego de puzles que logra desafiar al jugador basándose en una muy bien planificada alteración de la gravedad. Su diseño de niveles es ejemplar, y el diseño artístico y sonoro acompaña bien. Puede resultar algo corto, pero por la pura razón de que deja con ganas de más, aun con su modo Nueva Partida+. Puzles con gravedad hay muchos, pero pocos exprimen tan bien sus posibilidades en un entorno tridimensional.

Etherborn es la viva imagen del gran momento que vive la industria del desarrollo de videojuegos en España. Una interesantísima y exigente propuesta que sorprende por su estética y su diseño de niveles. Puzzles muy intrincados y que harán que nos sumerjamos en un mundo que renace.

What is in place with Etherborn is very good, and if you are after a taxing puzzler which will push and pull the grey matter in ways other games can’t, then you should certainly consider a purchase. Just be aware that you may well be left wanting more as the end credits roll.

Etherborn is an ambitious game that tries to give players a truly unique adventure. While it misses the mark in certain areas, like the story, it nails it in plenty of others. Its clever use of manipulating gravitational pull and changing set pieces at times provide a really tough challenge. Thinking outside the box is a must in order to complete the game and solving the levels offers a truly gratifying experience. My biggest complaint is that it is a really short game, only taking about five hours or so to complete. I guess that’s the mark of a good game though; leaving the player wanting more. For fans of puzzle platformers, Etherborn is a game that they shouldn’t let disappear into the ether.

Trotz der Tiefe und Komplexität des Spielprinzips dauert es überraschenderweise nur wenige Minuten, um die Möglichkeiten der unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und verschiedenen Gravitationen ohne Worte in Etherborn sofort verständlich zu machen. Grund dafür ist das überlegte Leveldesign, das euch ausprobieren lässt und gleichzeitig die Grenzen eurer Handlungsmöglichkeiten klarmacht. Unterlegt wird das rätselhafte Abenteuer von einem entspannten Soundtrack, der mithilfe der weichen Grafik eine Atmosphäre schafft, die bei Problemlösungen für einen kühlen Kopf sorgt. Während das Ziel eines Rätsels so gut wie immer gleich ist und mehr Abwechslung vertragen könnte, besitzt das Spiel leider nur wenige Welten, die sich allerdings jedes Mal sowohl qualitativ als auch mit Blick auf die Schwierigkeit merkbar steigern. Wenn wir allerdings beim Thema des Spiels bleiben und diesen Gesichtspunkt aus einer anderen Perspektive betrachten, so spricht es doch für Etherborn, wenn einer der wenigen Kritikpunkte darin besteht, mehr zu wollen. Obwohl die Kontrolle eurer Figur in bestimmten, engen Situationen etwas schwierig werden kann, fühlt sie sich doch mehr als angenehm an. Ohne es zu merken, erwischte ich mich oftmals beim einfachen Herumlaufen in der Welt von Etherborn, wenn mir beispielsweise die Lösung eines Rätsels fehlte – als verschwendete Zeit habe ich dies jedoch nie wahrgenommen.

Etherborn is zonder meer een topper van een debuut. Je krijgt een complexe puzzel game verpakt in heel wat stijl en visuele kracht. De puzzels zijn uitdagend, maar het wordt nooit frustrerend. De zwaartekracht verplicht je om de obstakels en problemen vanuit werkelijk elke hoek te bekijken. Het spel is relatief kort, maar aan de andere kant is het net lang genoeg om niet langdradig te worden. Ben je op zoek naar een korte, maar intense ervaring en hou je van unieke puzzel games dan moet je zeker Etherborn eens downloaden.

Etherborn es un buen juego de acertijos que demuestra cómo hacer laberintos en 3D y cómo explorarlos sin presiones de forma llevadera. Puede que tenga las limitantes de contenido y que dependa mucho de la prueba y error del jugador, pero su diseño de niveles es algo que definitivamente quiero ver en futuras entregas. Altered Matter es un estudio al que no podemos perder de vista.

Etherborn não é um jogo extenso, possui poucos mundos para serem explorados e pode ser finalizado em algumas horas caso o jogador compreenda os enigmas. Após finalizá-lo, não há incentivos para um replay, pois não oferece fases extras ou modos adicionais. Tudo o que se pode fazer é reiniciar o jogo e explorar as mesmas fases apenas com as orbs brancas posicionadas em locais diferentes.

Etherborn es un juego más que recomendable para quienes disfruten con los títulos de puzles, particularmente para quienes prefieran un acercamiento algo más original ahora que parecen abundar los exponentes del género en primera persona. Audiovisualmente tiene bastante personalidad, y a nivel jugable –aunque echemos de menos alguna mecánica jugable más– nos parece bastante sólido.

Etherborn is a great and unique puzzle-platformer with some smart level design and gorgeous views, thanks to its colourful, yet simple art style. It is a tad short and I would have liked to see a little bit more experimentation; however, Etherborn is clearly one of the better, more rewarding puzzle games in recent memory and well worth a playthrough.

Etherborn is zeker het proberen waard, al is het prijskaartje dat er nu aan het spel hangt te hoog. 16.99 euro voor een game met maar vijf levels is te veel van het goede. Tien euro minder was een betere deal geweest. Dus mocht je voor dat bedrag eens op zoek zijn naar een puzzelgame met hersenkrakers en een mooie grafische stijl, dan is Etherborn leuk om eens te spelen. Houd alleen wel YouTube bij de hand voor walkthroughs als je je geduld dreigt te verliezen.

Etherborn è un affascinante puzzle platformer, sicuramente una gradita sorpresa per gli amanti del genere grazie ad un comparto artistico estremamente creativo e piacevole ed enigmi originali basati sull'esplorazione piuttosto che sulla manipolazione di oggetti. Qualche scelta di design lo rende più ostico di quel che avrebbe dovuto essere, ma se amate le sfide cerebrali è sicuramente un gioco da tenere presente.

Para ser su primer trabajo, Etherborn nos ha parecido una aventura muy robusta y de notable calidad, capaz de engancharnos sin remedio hasta completarlo en sus dos vertientes de dificultad. Auguramos un futuro notable a estos cuatro integrantes de Altered Matter, y ya estamos deseando saber que se traen entre manos para su próximo proyecto, estaremos expectantes.

La de Etherborn no es una origin story de tebeo de Marvel, decía, pero sí es una prueba viviente —no la única, pero en realidad no hay tantas— de que de la universidad también se puede salir con un juego bajo el brazo, y moverlo por ahí, y acabar sacándolo y que la cosa haya salido bien; seguro que más tiempo, presupuesto y sobre todo experiencia habrían terminado de pulir asperezas, pero de momento nos quedamos con una ventana privilegiada al trabajo de un estudio muy prometedor.

Un diseño de escenarios exquisito avalan la propuesta que ofrece Etherborn. Jugar con la gravedad no es nada nuevo, pero aquí se usa de manera ingeniosa a la par que elogiable, elevando así la propuesta y haciéndola sobresalir sobre otros juegos de puzles. Todo acompañado de una gran banda sonora. Desgraciadamente las bondades se desvanecen al ser tan efímeras como su duración, dejándonos con la siguiente pregunta: ¿esto es todo lo que nos podía ofrecer la idea o podía haber dado mucho más de si? 

Etherborn looks fantastic, sounds incredible and revolves around a brilliant game mechanic that initially feels like it’s going to lead to some clever puzzles but ramps things up far too quickly and engulfs you with frustratingly complex stages while you’re still trying to find your feet. There’s still a great game in there, but you’ll need to have the patience of a saint to stumble up its 90-degree difficulty curve to find it.

Etherborn is well worth checking out if brain teasing is your thing. As it toys with gravity and shifts surfaces to the forefront while you traverse them, mechanics come and go to keep the experience fresh at all times. This environmental puzzler doesn’t last particularly long, but it’s sure to provide an afternoon’s worth of challenge and enjoyment.

Etherborn è un puzzle game originale, con un level design raffinato che gioca un ruolo fondamentale nella creazione degli enigmi. La progressione è corretta, l’esplorazione assume mano a mano più importanza e viene impreziosita da un art direction semplice ma funzionale. Un paio di difetti sono presenti anche a livello ludico ma è nel suo voler esser qualcosa di più che Etherborn fallisce: la storia risulta infatti vaga e allo stesso tempo fumosa, sarebbe anche interessante eppure pare inserita in un secondo momento, quasi indipendentemente dalla struttura del gioco.

Etherborn is a charming game with great level design and soundtrack. While the story and character were rather flat the gameplay more than made up for it. A simple puzzle game at heart the main premises of perspective and gravity control was used to great effect. Etherborn is a rather short game and the levels don’t offer much replayability. I certainly enjoyed my time with Etherborn, but I would have liked to have a reason to return. Overall, Etherborn is a game I would recommend for anyone looking for a mellow puzzle game that will teach you how to approach problems from new perspectives.

Die Entwickler haben sich bezüglich der Hintergründe um den schemenhaften Hauptcharakter einiges an Gedanken gemacht und diese sowohl optisch als auch akustisch in Etherborn einfließen lassen. Letztendlich rutscht die philosophische Geschichte jedoch in den Hintergrund, da man sich eher um des Rätsels Lösung Gedanken macht. Das Spiel mit der Gravitation ist den Entwicklern gelungen. Uns haben die kleinen Denkaufgaben, die völlig entspannt, ohne jede Hetze oder Zeitdruck gemeistert werden, durchaus gefallen. Letztendlich ist Etherborn jedoch kein wirklich komplexes Puzzle-Abenteuer geworden und nach einigen wenigen Stunden ist auch der zusätzliche Durchgang erledigt, so dass sich das Spielvergnügen auf etwa fünf Stunden begrenzt. Manch einer hätte etwas mehr und Inhalt erwartet.

therborn is a creative and occasionally maddening puzzler that will test your brainpower. However, there's not a ton of content here, and the backing narration often comes across as pretentious nonsense.

Whilst short and somewhat overly dramatic in regards to its writing, the game’s core loop is thoroughly well designed, putting forward engaging, clever mechanics that rarely grow tiresome. This is further upheld by solid visual and audio design, both of which collectively set the vibe of the game remarkably well. Puzzle fans looking to fill a quiet evening will no doubt enjoy what’s on offer, it’s just a shame it’s all over with far too soon.

Pese a la escasa duración, Etherborn nos enamora con su apartado audiovisual y muestra una nueva cara a los puzles en tres dimensiones con la mecánica de la gravedad, que aporta un soplo de aire fresco al género.

Etherborn nos hará pasar un buen rato con su plataformeo anti-gravedad, pero el juego no tiene mucho más. Es divertido e incluso desafiante de jugar, pero se trata de una experiencia corta y con una historia descafeinada.

Etherborn looks nice and has some really interesting puzzles but they are presented in a way that's just a little too slow, not to mention a little too frustrating, to be truly enjoyable.

The highlights of Etherborn are undoubtedly its inventive puzzles and its constellation of small, compelling worlds. But with just five chapters, its brief runtime feels lacking, and it left me wanting for more puzzles to solve. Etherborn attempts to compensate for this by unlocking a new game plus mode after you've completed the game, which lets you dive into the same worlds once more. This mode is largely similar to the original one, the only difference being the crystalline orbs, which are located in harder-to-reach places. Apart from the slightly more challenging platforming puzzles, however, the electrifying thrill of discovery has largely subsided--you've already found all the secrets, after all--and there's little incentive to revisit it. By the end, even the allure of these small worlds isn't enough to make you return, with only the yearning for more remaining in its wake.

Although Etherborn is a somewhat short and often frustrating adventure, its intricate stages are mostly a joy to solve.

Etherborn is at the moment a game at contrast with itself. It has some issues with cameras and in a puzzle game that really cannot be the case. On the other hand it is majestic in it’s own way and challenging enough that there is a real sense of achievement when playing it.  I want it to be better than it is, but like what it is. A conundrum.

Etherborn becomes a very tricky game but the brain-teasing only lasts a couple of hours. The final riddle, however, feels surprisingly tame and not the big final exam it should be, resulting in a relatively anti-climatic finish. It also doesn’t help that cryptic story, centering on the complexities of human life, winds up being more confusing than profound. If nothing else, a New Game + adds mileage to old stages by placing nodes in new, harder-to-reach areas.  Despite a few drawbacks, the positives of Etherborn’s design combined with its attractive presentation manage to just outweigh its shortcomings. Your noggin will ultimately be left wanting more of Etherborn’s mysteries, but that says a lot about its upsides–or downsides, depending on the angle you’re viewing them.

Overall, Etherborn has its charms: a calming dynamic soundtrack, a smooth and simple art style, and a captivating performance by its narrator. But these are overshadowed by the thin layer of frustration caused by the loose controls and overly restrictive camera. There is potential here and if you enjoy more artful puzzle games like the ones this game has been heavily compared to, it’s at least worth a look. Just be ready for a few hangups along the way that might take you out of the experience.

Etherborn has so much potential, but its best moments are over far too quickly, leaving little replay value aside from showing people how cool the design is.

And yet I’m worried Etherborn won’t stay in my thoughts for as long as Baxter’s words have. Try as it might to nestle its way into the recesses of my mind, Etherborn may end up being a fleeting memory – a pleasant experience but one which will hang on the forefront of your mind, only to be quickly scuppered by something with a bit more of body.

Etherborn is a game I’m not entirely sure I can recommend, because by the time it was really starting to get going, it was already over. The abstract and bizarre levels are pretty, and you could probably get some nice screensavers out of the game’s environments.

Etherborn is a space and gravity bending puzzle game that challenges your spatial awareness, however despite a very compelling hook and lovely visuals it runs out of ideas very quickly.

It’s tough to see Etherborn as anything but a misguided project and a missed opportunity.  It’s frustrating to play without the ability to look around, the story has zero weight or impact, and apart from some wonderful visuals, it’s got little to offer.  

It may not be a long game, for a faster-witted player than I would get through it in an afternoon, and pretty games may not be all that scarce… but this is more than just pretty. It’s a carefully directed, genuinely beautiful game well worth your time.

However, the most disappointing part of Etherborn is that the gravity mechanic plays more like a prototype than something found in a completed game. There are so many unused ideas, and you mostly perform the same tasks repeatedly without any meaningful change or new spin on the core mechanic. It makes the game an underwhelming experience, with very few moments that invoke awe or intrigue.

En los momentos en los que un nivel se presenta especialmente peliagudo es cuando más se agradece la estética, la otra gran protagonista de esta obra. Y es que tanto el diseño artístico, en clave cromática Monument Valley, como el acompañamiento musical consiguen de forma efectiva que nos sumerjamos en sus mundos oníricos. No ocurre tanto con su historia, excesivamente abstracta, aunque conectada temáticamente a la idea de lo etéreo que intenta transmitir el juego.

Es maravilloso correr por el colorido mundo que ofrece al tiempo que escuchamos su tranquila banda sonora y jugamos con los cambios de gravedad. Se aprecia un enorme trabajo en el diseño de los niveles, que nos darán más de un quebradero de cabeza. Su defecto principal es que se acaba cuando más lo estamos disfrutando, dejando la agridulce sensación de que se ha desaprovechado una gran idea. Si perdonamos su breve duración, disfrutaremos de las experiencias más bonitas e intensas del año.
