Yuppie Psycho was a great game when it launched in 2019 and still is now. The Executive Edition successfully enhances the base game with an even more enjoyable story and gameplay content. Considering how this content has been added completely for free, there’s really no reason to not revisit Sintracorp, and even less of a reason for new players to abstain from purchasing.

Si ya tenéis el juego original, esta Executive Edition, con más contenido añadido por el medio de la historia principal, más finales y otros ajustes, se desbloqueará gratuitamete. Pero si no conocéis este juego, id a por él en Switch. No os arrepentiréis ni lo más mínimo porque esto es juntar, muy bien, The Secret of Monkey Island con Deadly Premonition. Y si esto os suena bien, Yuppie Psycho os encantará. Para mí ha sido todo un sorpresón que os recomiendo encarecidamente. Por cierto, viene perfectamente traducido al español.

Yuppie Psycho mantiene al jugador interesado en todo momento. No solo la historia es atrapante, sino que sus puzles pueden hacernos perder la vida y la paciencia si no tomamos las decisiones correctas. Muy bien conjugada la atmósfera de un relato de terror, dentro de elementos surrealistas y toques de comedia negra.

This has been a difficult review to write. Not because I don’t have anything to say about Yuppie Psycho: Executive Edition, because believe me, there’s LOADS I want to talk about. I just don’t want to spoil it because all of the goodness that it offers needs to be experienced first-hand. It offers a creepy narrative that’ll keep you on edge, enjoyable puzzles and exploration, and some sweet monsters to give you the heebie-jeebies… it’s a GREAT game.

Es de agradecer a Baroque Decay que apuesten por este tipo de juego donde el terror es la señal predominante. Su forma única de hacer videojuegos y de narrar aventuras hace que nos enganchemos a pocos minutos y que no queramos dejar el mando hasta prácticamente acabarlo. Con su llegada a Nintendo Switch, y particularmente con esta edición que incluye su expansión, los poseedores de la híbrida tenemos la oportunidad de disfrutar de un juego sobresaliente que recomendamos que no dejéis escapar porque de seguro os cautivará, sobre todo si sois fans del género.

Si superamos la barrera de entrada que pueda suponer su estilo gráfico, nos vamos a encontrar con un título original, con ideas interesantes, coleccionables y varios finales. Si Silent Hill fuera pixelado y se desarrollase en una oficina, el resultado podría llamarse Yuppie Psycho.

Yuppie Psycho Executive Edition may not be the scariest game you’ll play all year, but it’ll probably be one of the most scintillating stories of corporate culture gone rancid ever told. Of all the games I’ve played in 2020, this is the one that most deserves to be turned into a movie, and I would watch it repeatedly even though I’m a massive baby. Young James Spader should also be there, but I digress; Yuppie Psycho Executive Edition deserves to be experienced in any medium, and not picking this title up will haunt you for the rest of your gaming days. Yuppie Psycho es un juego sólido, bien escrito y lleno de referencias y misterios para los amantes del terror. Con su colorido y llamativo arte en pixel art y sus graciosos diálogos, consigue crear un universo lleno de ideas, metáforas y mensajes, además de un lore rico que puede dar lugar un universo expandido muy interesante. Pero, además de jugarse, Yuppie Psycho puede interpretarse y ahí encontramos otra fuente de diversión. El primer día de trabajo de Brian Pasternak va a dar que hablar. Como mínimo, va a convertirse en uno de los indies más interesantes del año. 

Yuppie Psycho gives us a glimpse into the neo-corporate future depicted in science fiction films like Robocop and The Matrix, where normal people try to navigate the corporate dystopian workspaces they’ve found themselves in. It’s a highly polished look at what we once imagined as the reality of the corporatised future, and still could be. It’s entertaining and engaging with its poke at modern life and the flimsy social systems we cling to. It argues that you are not defined by your job – and, on occasion, that’s something everyone needs to hear.

Yuppie Psycho is a surprising title that I ended up loving fairly early on in the adventure. The symbolism and metaphors about office life shine in a disturbing way that could make someone question going into work the next day. While gameplay elements, boss battles, and exploration is a huge part of the game, I think it was Brian’s determination that had me wanting to see this adventure through until the end. I applaud the writers of this game as there are just some moments that really connected with me whether in a humorous or somber way.

Yuppie Psycho é uma obra excelente que faz um ótimo trabalho como um survival horror que consegue de um só golpe ser uma fábula terrível e divertida das neuroses do mundo empresarial. Há muitos mistérios a buscar e segredos a revelar tanto no microcosmo do edifício da Sintracorp como na trama tecida a abusos, sangue, amizade e humor absurdo.

Balanced firmly between satisfying puzzles, survival horror gameplay, and an amusing story that satirizes the grind of corporate life, the odd but thoroughly engaging Yuppie Psycho has all the makings of a cult classic.

Original aventura con toques de supervivencia y terror que se apoya en una alocada e interesante historia que satiriza en gran medida a la sociedad corporativa japonesa. Todo ello con toques de comedia y terror, aderezado con buenos acertijos.

Generalmente cuando escribo un análisis de un producto suelo darle más vueltas, pero, al igual que Yuppie Psycho, creo que pensar mucho en algunos momentos nos quita la oportunidad de ser espontáneos y sorprender. Mi conclusión con este juego es bastante sencilla: compradlo. Es un juegazo, lo siento, no puedo esconder mi admiración por el producto. Un videojuego que me ha tenido enganchado al modo portátil de la Switch, con los consecuentes bajonazos de frames¸ durante tres noches enteras mientras me acojonaba yo solo con los cascos y sufría microinfartitos a las cuatro de la mañana. Todo el mundo puede disfrutar de Yuppie Psycho a partir de hoy en Switch y, si no os gusta la plataforma, lo tenéis en PC disponible en la edición Executive Edition como actualización gratuita para el título. Un juego que no os dejará indiferentes.

Su historia se complica a medida que avanzamos. Tenemos una inteligencia artificial que nos asesora, el misterioso pasado de la familia Sintra o un individuo disfrazado que nos intenta estorbar. Todo esto hace que sea fácil verse atrapado en las intrigas que nos propone. Cuenta con una premisa original, un guion cuidado y unas mecánicas conocidas pero bien utilizadas y eso es mucho más de lo que podemos encontrar en otros juegos hoy en día. ¿Aceptáis la oferta de trabajo?

Yuppie Psycho es un original survival horror en el que la propia oficina se convierte en un improvisado escenario de terror. Los elementos más cotidianos se convierten en nuestros enemigos, a los cuales debemos esquivar, combatir y enfrentar a través de todo un edificio plagado de secretos y administrando los pocos recursos que encontremos. La trama, a pesar de ser interesante y bien construida, decide acelerar el paso en su recta final y no llega a ser tan perfecta como podría haber sido. Aun así, una compra muy recomendada que hará las delicias de todo el mundo, en especial de los fans de este género.

Even with a couple of stumbles, and one bug in my time, I still had a great time with the game. When I would stop, I always found my self wondering what would happen next, which kept me engaged up until the game’s conclusion. If your looking for a game filled with atmosphere, horror, dark comedy, and irony, then Yuppie Psycho can be well worth your time.

Yuppie Psycho is one of the few survival horror games to keep me on the edge of my seat. Though occasionally bizarre and tonally strange, it has the all the makings of a great adventure. The puzzles are engaging, the story is gripping, and the horror kept me coming back for more.

Yuppie Psycho es la enésima prueba empírica de esta nueva edad de oro que se vive a nivel de creación en la península. Y no solo por un tema de cantidad de títulos publicados, sino por la calidad que estos desprenden. La nueva obra de Calvelo y cía. es una historia mimada y completa, que también pone, además, a Galicia en ese mapa de la industria, y recuerda al mundo que desde esta esquina del mapa también se hacen videojuegos. No olvidar un dato singular y precioso por su ausencia total en diversas ocasiones: puede vivirse en gallego.

De forma geral, Yuppie Psycho é uma interessante adição aos jogos de survival horror, apresentando uma escolha inusitada de ambientação corporativa. Mais do que isso, utilizando-se de características clássicas do gênero e de uma boa imaginação que transforma elementos típicos de escritório em itens e inimigos, o jogo consegue apresentar uma aterrorizante experiência de primeiro emprego.

En definitiva, y cerrando el análisis de este particular juego, solo me queda deciros que os recomiendo con mucha fuerza la experiencia tan especial, particular, y meticulosamente cuidada, que nos han planteado la buena gente de Baroque Decay.

During the time of this review, the price point of this game on steam is $16.66, which is a very unique price point for a game. I think the game is worth this price point. What I noticed however and this is just me overthinking, but most games on steam are $19.99, but when a game is on sale, it would have a unique price point such as $19.40. This game, however, is not on sale and has a weird price point but notice the 666 I think because this is a horror game that they choose 16.66 which is very creative cause its a horror games but that’s just my speculation, but if they did do it for that reason that’s BLOODY BRILLIANT. Now for the final score!!

While the difficulty level may scare some away, Yuppie Psycho has so much great writing and clever gameplay that it would be a crime to overlook. Pasternack’s journey through SintraCorp is equal parts scary and hilarious, and the handful of annoying moments were more than made up for by a fundamentally humane story about people trying to connect and help one another within a system designed to grind them into a slurry of blandness. Sometimes literally.

Yuppie Psycho tells a thrilling career adventure story with a strong sense of mystery and it keeps me engaged all the time.

Yuppie Psycho è un horror decisamente interessante, con un’ambientazione originale per il genere, personaggi molto caratteristici e ben strutturati e una direzione artistica retrò, ma incredibilmente a fuoco. Pecca un po’ dal punto di vista del gameplay, per nulla innovativo, e dal punto di vista del survival, che nelle battute finali potrebbe fare un passo indietro.

Yuppie Psycho es un juego muy survival horror, nos dota de un nivel de exploración asombroso a la vez que nos reta constantemente a resolver rompecabezas para seguir avanzando al más puro estilo aventura gráfica. Utiliza muy bien sus herramientas para mantenernos siempre al límite del miedo extremo y esto hace que la tensión resultante sea del agrado de cualquiera aunque no guste este tipo de juegos, aunque puede que no sea tan llamativo para otro tipo de usuarios que disfruten con un terror más visceral.

Con una  buena cantidad de referencias al  mundo del anime, y guiños a obras de Cronenberg o David Lynch, si eres un amante del terror y aunque estes acostumbrado a una estetica más realista tipo RE, Silent Hill etc… este juego es muy recomendable. Creeme, la historia te tendrá en vilo y en muchos momentos agradecerás que la estetica sea 16 bits, porque aún asi hay escenas realmente terroríficas, no solo por lo que ves, sino el contexto de la propia imagen.

El sorprendentemente pequeño equipo de Baroque Decay desarrolla otra joya independiente que encantará a los aficionados del terror retro. Es un survival horror 2D con temática a medio camino entre The Office y Twin Peaks, redondo en casi todo lo que se propone -que es más de lo que aparenta-: eventos rocambolescos y variados, dificultad bien medida, humor, pixel-art gore y ambicioso dentro de sus posibilidades.

Con lo poco que me gusta el género de los survival horror, tiene narices que Yuppie Psycho me haya hecho sufrir tanto como me ha enganchado por su trama, propuesta y su loco mundo. Y eso es decir bastante en mi caso.

Yuppie Psycho es una mordaz crítica al mundo empresarial y a la cultura corporativista en forma de survival horror, el género más acertado para una sátira sobre un mundo en el que la misión principal es sobrevivir. Superar con vida el primer día de trabajo no será tarea fácil, puesto que la interacción con el entorno no nos proporcionará pistas, los recursos a nuestro favor serán escasos y los puzles requerirán buena capacidad de observación y memoria. Los enfrentamientos contra enemigos se basarán en el sigilo y derrotaremos a los jefes resolviendo acertijos bajo la presión de ser asesinados. Aunque será fácil complicar la partida por una mala gestión, el desafío de Yuppie Psycho merece la pena por las sorpresas que aguardan en cada planta del edificio de Syntracorp.

Con este nivel técnico Yuppie Psycho se atreve a mirar a la cara a las grandes desarrolladoras, y les dice que para triunfar en una fiesta no hace falta ni ser el mas guapo, ni ser el que más músculos tiene. Simplemente con ingenio y una buen historia también se puede hacer disfrutar a la gente. El precio de 17 euros en Steam, está mas que justificado, vale cada uno de esos míseros euros, porque la diversión que emana este titulo es palpable.

'Yuppie Psycho' es uno de esos títulos que hay que probar una vez en la vida. No es perfecto, pero no necesita serlo. El claro ejemplo de que con muy poco, es posible transmitir mucho. Una de esas experiencias que no te pueden contar; tienes que vivirlas. Yo, personalmente, espero no tener que trabajar nunca para Sintracorp, pero agradezco a Baroque Decay que me haya permitido adentrarme en sus oficinas por un día. Cumplidor como survival horror a la antigua usanza y especialmente recomendable para cualquier persona que guste del surrealismo de David Lynch.

It’s not the greatest playing horror game, and some aspects feel extremely dated. However, Yuppie Psycho is undeniably worth playing for anyone that is looking for something weird and wants art to actually have something to say. In a field where so many titles are afraid to say anything meaningful at all and will willfully walk back any political commentary that gets included, it’s nice to see it emphatically underlined and bolded. This is certainly a weird trip, and while there are some stumbles along the way, it is one that should be embarked upon.

Yuppie Psycho may not look that scary on the outside, but there’s a lot more lurking beneath its charming aesthetics. An amazing story, strong writing and an eerie atmosphere make this a creepy comedic gem that’s rich in personality. It’s not all smooth sailing, but this surreal nightmarish odyssey has enough smart scares to make it work.

Está claro que Yuppie Psycho no es un AAA y que dentro del indie se podría decir que es una producción de las que tienen menos presupuesto de lo normal. Pero, sinceramente, pienso que Baroque Decay ha conseguido su objetivo: hacer que nos sintamos como un novato en la oficina con la esperanza de cambiar la vida de la gente. Buen trabajo.

Yuppie Psycho turns a workplace satire into a survival horror adventure, and does right by both parts of that strange formula. Despite some frustration from its punishing difficulty, Yuppie Psycho is a surreal but cogent parody that’s well worth clocking in for.

Una aventura de terror con la capacidad de sorprender. Pocos videojuegos del estilo pueden decir lo mismo y ese es un pequeño gran triunfo para Yuppie Psycho. Este survival horror te lo hará pasar francamente bien con lo variado de su acción y lo ingenioso de algunos de sus puzles, pero también con su demencial puesta en escena y loco argumento. ¿Serás capaz de acabar con la bruja? Inténtalo, que merece la pena.

Ne vous y trompez pas, derrière son esthétique simpliste, Yuppie Psycho est une aventure très plaisante dont les nombreuses énigmes vous donneront du fil à retordre. Parfaitement bien pensé et construit et doté d'une histoire dont les situations allient à merveille horreur et comédie, on ne peut que le recommander aux adeptes du genre qui passeront à coup sûr un bon moment devant la dizaine d'heures qu'offre son scénario.

Yuppie Psycho es un videojuego de terror indie de lo más recomendable si te gusta el género. Una experiencia relativamente corta pero que deja su huella en ti, con una trama y personajes sin igual y una dirección artística que hace maravillas. Sí, a lo mejor el gameplay podría haber dado más de sí, pero en sus 10 horas de juego podemos decir que consigue ser lo suficientemente variado como para no lastrar al título.

Yuppie Psycho is a surreal and incredibly unique experience. By drawing most of it's inspiration from television and film, the game develops a unique aesthetic and world that feels unlike anything other video games have explored. Even though the in-game graphical style is a disappointment, the anime-inspired visuals in the rest of the game and the flawless soundtrack help create a truly tense and at times nightmarish atmosphere. Yuppie Psycho isn't without flaws, but it's a horror gem that is absolutely worth experiencing in spite of those flaws.

Horror games need a little inconvenience to survive. If you’re not stressed out and pushed into a corner, you’re not able to get quite scared or tense enough for the full experience. To that end, this game’s more egregious mechanics are an acceptable sacrifice. The only downer for me was when that extra tension regressed into something more like annoyance. I don’t mind being sacred, I’m less into being frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, my times with this game were a spooky delight overall. The occasional dip in my enjoyment was a fair trade for the unsettling atmosphere, the fascinating narrative, and the clever premise. If you’re in the market for an unconventional horror game, I can easily recommend Yuppie Psycho.

Baroque Decay apuesta, no obstante, por proponernos un ritmo movido, que no frenético, compactando una historia bien hilada y con un gameplay corto que, lo mires por donde lo mires, deja con ganas de más. En una escena indie saturada de juegos de terror basados en los jump scares yen la decoración de interiores, se agradecen propuestas diferentes y de calidad de la talla de Yuppie Psycho, capaces de convertir el primer día de trabajo en una pesadilla al mismo tiempo aterradora, ácida y divertida.

Yuppie Psycho is an adventure game that depicts an exploitive employer through both comedy and horror. It’s too bad that the actual survival gameplay lacks tension. During the latter part of the game, the concept of the employer loses its importance, and while that might make sense for the story, I found the game’s original concept far more appealing.

Videojuego mínimo viable que sirve para pulir y afianzar las características de Baroque Decay, con gran trama, pero pequeño abarque. Sencillo y bastante efectivo.
