Definiría a Solo como una experiencia disfrazada de videojuego. Sus puzles son algo que roza lo anecdótico y es el hecho de poder darle nuestro ritmo lo que lo convierte en videojuego. Team Gotham se mete en nuestra cabeza, algo que es realmente complicado sin resultar molesto, y consigue remover nuestros cimientos con el amor sin resultar incómodo.

I’m really glad that a game like Solo can exist – I can easily imagine the many different walks of people who would appreciate the opportunity to be open and honest about their understanding of love. By building upon universal human experiences, Team Gotham have created a poignant game which distills romance without being sappy, compassion without ulterior motive and self-reflection without the fear of others’ expectations. Perhaps it’s not the most exciting or enjoyable of games, but I’m sure Solo will find a core audience which will appreciate it for what it does best. 

Viaje Interior. experiencia personal. puzles, aventura. «Solo» es un juego único que apela a las emociones y sentimientos para ofrecer un desafio sensacional, y que engancha que da gusto. 

Solo probably isn’t for everyone. As I mentioned earlier the game is more an art project wrapped in the form of a video game. For me, that works wonderfully, but it might be too artsy for everyone, especially those simply looking for a good puzzle game. The puzzles are fun, but they lack variety and can become a little repetitive.

Moreover, Solo really assumes that the player has someone in their life, or like me, has lost someone that meant the world to them. If you fall into those brackets then you’ll get a much more meaningful experience from Solo, but if you aren’t then you might be left wanting.

Even if games so relaxed aren’t your normal forte, I would recommend checking out Solo. Everyone has rough patches in their lives and it can be cathartic to explore our thoughts in a more interactive manner. Not every aspect of the game is perfect, but that beautifully mirrors how complex love can be.

En conclusión, Solo es un juego tremendamente peculiar, que consigue poner la temática del amor sobre la mesa y consigue que todo gire en torno en ello de una forma intensa, pero conservando un balance perfecto entre todos los elementos. Es posible disfrutarlo únicamente como juego de puzles, aunque si sabemos ir más allá y seguir la historia, es una experiencia que vale la pena.

La verdadera magia se oculta en la correcta afinidad de sus palabras, las notas, los diálogos, esa narrativa tan cuidada que se vincula naturalmente con el escenario. Solo es un juego que funciona mejor como un conjunto, ya que se alimenta minuciosamente de diversos factores. Desde una delicada banda de sonido que acompaña la metodología ambiental de sus Puzzles, hasta la condicionada interacción con el escenario y sus personajes. Al reunir todos estos apartados obtenemos un viaje reflexivo al que es difícil decirle que no.

Ante todo, Solo es una obra personal que muestra una cara muy diferente dependiendo de la persona que se ponga a los mandos. Y no soy quién para decir cuánto va a lograr calaros ni cómo os afectará a vosotros; pero desde luego puedo afirmar que es uno de los pocos videojuegos que ha logrado revolverme por dentro. En las escasas horas que dura ha sido capaz de llevarme en toda una odisea por mis recuerdos, por mis relaciones, por mis aciertos y errores en el pasado, poniéndome de nuevo en medio de algunos de los caminos que forjaron a la persona que soy a día de hoy. Y, sinceramente, eso es algo que para mí no tiene precio.

Solo es un juego agradable y muchas veces no somos conscientes de lo maravilloso que es encontrarse con algo así. Agradable, intimista y con la profundidad que queramos darle. Tanto lo jugamos buscando una reflexión sobre nuestra visión del amor, como si queremos un título de puzzles tranquilo, un juego para la evasión, aquí encontrarremos lo que buscamos aunque debo recordar que lo segundo es quedarse en la superficie. Team Gotham quiere usar el videojuego como terapia y propone con valentía un título que, si le dejamos, pretende salirse de lo normal. La búsqueda que plantea Solo no está en un archipiélago, no podemos hacerla en el mar. Este es un tipo de meditación que todos necesitamos. Que todos tenemos que permitirnos.

Solo no te propone una aventura al uso, ni tampoco un reto tradicional. Se trata de un videojuego personal que te invita a reflexionar contigo mismo acerca del amor en tu vida. Para ello ofrece una experiencia íntima, que se adapta a tu filosofía romántica para después obligarte a replantearla y, finalmente, enfrentarte a tus conclusiones con un desenlace metafórico de gran poder. Tampoco se olvida de ser entretenido por el camino, ofreciendo un sistema de puzles con cajas que, si bien no es un concepto revolucionario ni complejo, sí logra ser divertido y ligeramente desafiante.

An introspective puzzle game that teaches you about love, travelling, the importance of self-love and challenges some of those hyperbolic statements we make about how far we would go for our loved one. Team Gotham has a right treat here.

With its tagline, Solo promises an experience that is both introspective and puzzle-based, and it lives up to that promise. Its unique presentation of the theme of love is backed by solid, well-designed puzzle gameplay. It's refreshing to play a game that not only makes you contemplate a theme in a way that other games do not, but also does it in a manner that does not neglect the aspects of games that make it a unique medium. The game does not revolutionize the puzzle game genre, but it doesn't have to. Solo is a successful experiment that is easy to recommend for those of you who like to experience new takes on what gaming has to offer. It's also easy to recommend for those of you who want to enjoy games as an art form, but are weary of experiences that come up short in the "game" department. 

Team Gotham ha vuelto a hacer un buen trabajo buscando discurso  que se refleje en lo jugable y el permanente tono reflexivo, pero en Solo la apuesta podría haber llegado un poco más lejos con más bloques, mecánicas, dificultad y variedad de áreas. Lo que empezaron explorando muy bien con The Guest, en este mucho más vivo y colorista mundo de islotes surrealistas y muy poligonales se ha ido hacia unos derroteros excesivamente sencillos pero, eso sí, perfectamente hilados.

Still, and for players looking for something truly different – and despite its limitations – Solo is an exceptional creative foray. Regardless of one’s age or gender identity, Solo will challenge pre-existing notions of love, and leave the player a different and more informed person. It’s no small feat to translate one’s experiences into a robust game environment that others can feel for themselves…and in potentially diverse ways. Team Gotham accomplishes this sublimely.

Team Gotham sigue llevando un rumbo acertado en su segundo juego para PC. Solo es un buen juego de puzles que se juega de forma relajada, como si fuera un ejercicio de meditación en el que sólo importa el siguiente desafío y nos absorbe mientras encontramos la forma de alcanzar el siguiente faro. Las preguntas sobre las relaciones de pareja nos sacan un poco de ese ensimismamiento pero el juego es fluido y atrapa tanto que cuesta dejarlo y, por tanto, renunciar a superar el reto de la siguiente isla. Necesitamos más Team Gotham.

Solo is not only a work of art but a labor of love. Team Gotham certainly poured out their hearts into this game, and it shows. The visuals are amazing and the music hits all the right notes (pun intended). The game invites the player to reflect on their beliefs on the nature and importance of romantic love. Unfortunately, the game is not flawless, with missteps in the controls and in some heavy-handed philosophical conclusions. Nevertheless, Solo is an overall great gaming experience.

While Solo, retailing at $14.99 (USD) on Steam, is still a technically competent 3-D puzzle-platformer that is generally fun to play, its short length and the inability of the story to really “click” with me ultimately knocks it down a few pegs. Perhaps, if loving relationships mean a lot to you, this might be more to your liking than it was to mine.

Solo es una aventura intimista sobre nuestra percepción sobre el amor. Un viaje a nuestro interior mientras solventamos ciertos rompecabezas y puzles que nos ayuden a progresar. Solo sorprendre no sólo por su estética y jugabilidad, sino por las preguntas que es capaz de hacernos, algunas de las cuales te harán plantear si lo que sientes es verdadero amor hacia otra persona. Si no eres capaz de abrir tu corazón al juego lo mejor es que te alejes de Solo.

Solo es un viaje por nuestros pensamientos en relación al amor. Un aventura prácticamente catártica en donde se nos plantean cuestiones muy personales envueltas en un ambiente que invita a la meditación.

Still, Solo is not without merit. It is an ambitious and charming attempt to take players on a different adventure. The emphasis on emotional exploration just seems to feel slightly blunt. If you are looking for a charming puzzle game that sweeps you away, that has gorgeous graphics and amazingly written subtext, try Journey or Rime. Solo, is an ultimately laudable attempt that sails off course somewhat.

The game definitely has a some unique qualities, including the premise and the gender considerations. If you enjoy puzzle games and are entertained by repetition in a very pretty setting, then this might be right up your alley. Unfortunately, these few good elements really don’t outweigh or make up for the glitches and lack of compelling story. That being said, I won’t give up completely - I’d like to know how it ends. Hopefully some improvements will be made upon release. 

Despite the positives, issues with the camera and bugs made playing Solo frustrating. But I am hopeful Team Gotham will continue to support the development of the game post-launch.
