I’m still pretty early on in Astra, but I’m enjoying the game a lot so far. The graphics are beautiful and incredibly detailed, the music is soothing with whimsical sound effects, the controls feel natural and let you play it with one hand, and the gameplay is challenging. I’m always looking for a good auto-running platformer adventure that has some realistic physics, and Astra has it. I recommend checking this one out if you want a fun and challenging physics-based platformer to keep yourself occupied with.

Really, Astra stands out among other orbital platformers for its unique art and great feel. But it is a trying game, and one that caused me to quit constantly and go play something else, to the point that it was difficult to proceed. But that made the successes more rewarding, and it's long way to the top, that's for sure.

The game does a good job of providing the auto-runner set-up with the specie physics that provides really well done gravitational pulls off the numerous planets you will jump between. The game mechanics let you experience the challenge of the level design, although there are some blind leaps you have to make. Luckily, you do get to contend with jumping at the right time to align a jump, while dealing with the momentum of your character running automatically. The levels do introduce new planet layouts, but there are still some repetitive elements with the simplified structure and consistent goals. The game does lack some engagement as it feels like you’re just going through the motions as the levels are drawn out with little idea as to where all of the collectables are. The mechanic grows stale relatively quickly, and you’re left with the planet hoppers you have played before.
