Post Trauma is a return to the roots of the survival horror genre, immersing the player in a dark, puzzling world that captivates from the very first second. The game knows how to utilize the strengths of classic survival horror titles and package them in a modern, yet nostalgic experience. The atmosphere is intense and the puzzles challenging. The game therefore offers exactly what long-time fans of the genre want. Of course, there are minor weaknesses, such as the less spectacular battles or the stiff animations of the protagonist, but these hardly spoil the overall experience. For the price of 15 euros, you get a solid, albeit short, experience that you can definitely play a second time. At a time when the big survival horror franchises are becoming increasingly action-packed, Post Trauma is a welcome change. It reminds us of the golden era of the genre, when the real horror wasn't in the bloody battles, but in the atmosphere, the puzzles and the constant sense of threat. Anyone longing for this experience will find exactly that with Post Trauma: an all-round nostalgia trip that brings the dark corners of the genre back to life.

After several years of waiting, Post Trauma is finally available on PC and consoles, but what could have been a solid tribute to the horror genre turns out to be a series of disappointing choices that only make us appreciate the classic survival horrors even more.

The creators’ respect for the genre is clear in all aspects of the final product. For veteran gamers and horror aficionados, this game will be a wonderful trip down memory lane. Post Trauma is available on platforms.

Post Trauma tries to bring back the horror of the 90s in a mix with the current. However, the way it was done made the game generic and without identity. Although it is not terrible, it is not worth the investment.

I wanted to like Post Trauma more than I did. A survival horror game that emphasises exploration and puzzle solving in a desolate world sounds like it should have been a good time. However, a weak plot and lacklustre combat make Post Trauma an uneven game that would be tough to recommend if it weren’t for its incredibly reasonable asking price. Though you could also always wait for a midyear sale if you want to…
