Without a strong mechanical or narrative backbone, GRIS struggles to do much except look really, really nice. I’d love to see more games that look as interesting as this one does, but not if it means making the same kinds of sacrifices. The tradeoff just isn’t worth it.

I love ’Normal Club in concept, and I almost love it in practice. The writing is fun, it has some great art, and the light puzzles sprinkled throughout the experience are entertaining. That said, all of these things wear thin when you have to tap through it time and time again in search of an ending that is confusingly dissatisfying.

Aside from some nice art, there’s not a whole lot to enjoy about Very Little Nightmares. From top to bottom, the game feels poorly conceived. It doesn’t work as a horror tone-piece, a puzzle game, or a mobile experience, which is a pretty big problem if you’re trying to make a horror-themed puzzle game on mobile.

Starman is a fun enough puzzle game, but what really makes it stands out is its fantastic visual design. The black and white aesthetic, combined with richly detailed and interesting environments, makes for a game that you want to stare at all day. Although it isn’t a super long experience, and some of its puzzles can be troublesome, Starman is worth taking a look at.

Space Legend isn't the deepest game out there, but it offers plenty to do without a whole lot of restrictions. As a result, it makes ruling the galaxy feel like a relaxing and fun pursuit.

All that being said, though, Runaway does a great job of scratching that old adventure game itch. If players have some reverence for that genre, or are just interested in seeing a modern re-creation of the exact mechanics that made those games what they were, Runaway is a quality get. Its story is engaging enough to keep players experimenting with items, and the game does a good job of looking like a "great looking" older game. Just don't expect mind-blowing gameplay, maybe keep a walkthrough handy, and stay patient to have the ideal experience.
