La experiencia metroidvania que ofrece Laika: Aged Through Blood es una de esas que guardaré siempre en mi interior, tanto por su historia, y sus personajes, como por todas sus partes que funcionan bien a nivel de mecánicas, y de apartado visual, además de ofrecer una banda sonora perfecta para acompañar cada combate, cada tramo del camino, en definitiva, una compra obligada si te gusta el género.

Sin duda alguna estamos ante un juego que es intenso en todo el sentido de la palabra. Tanto su historia, banda sonora y claro está, su jugabilidad, nos hará sentir todo tipo de emociones y dejará marca en nuestro corazón de jugadores. Estamos ante una obra de culto inolvidable.

Laika Aged Through Blood es algo más que un buen juego, es una experiencia de las que te cambian la vida y te dejan huella. La huella de una historia profunda y con una narrativa brillante y dura. La huella de unos personajes creíbles y con los que empatizas muy rápido. Es fácil ponerte en el papel de Laika y querer venganza, hasta el punto de querer apretar el gatillo antes de preguntar, ya que se tocan temas delicados pero siempre con mucho tacto y respeto.

Para los amantes de los metroidvania, entre los cuales me incluyo, Laika me parece imprescindible, tanto por su acción frenética y divertida como por la original mecánica de ir en moto haciendo cabriolas y todo tipo de acrobacias mientras avanzas a toda velocidad. Para el final me dejo su mayor arma, su carismático y preciosista arte. Unos gráficos pintados a mano con animaciones bellas y sangrientas, y una banda sonora maravillosa le hacen merecer un 10 en este apartado. De matrícula. Solo me queda recomendaros este juego porque sin duda es de lo mejorcito de este 2023 y en mi caso me ha dejado huella, la huella de una coyote inmortal que lucha por la vida.

Now that the Switch version Laika: Aged Through Blood has finally arrived, it can finally join Hollow Knight, Animal Well, and Blasphemous II as a true modern classic in the Metroidvania genre. The premise and gameplay are like no other, seamlessly combining motocross gameplay with badass bullet-time shootouts that constantly feels satisfying. Chuck in one of the best soundtracks we've heard in years and maybe iron out the remaining performance hiccups, and Laika could well be an early contender for Switch GOTY 2025.

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a metroidvania that experiments in interesting way with stunts and slow motion in combat and exploration thanks to the motorbike mechanics. It has a wonderful diegetic soundtrack and a cruel plot well screenplayed with some great ludonarrative moments.

I've been following Laika: Aged Through Blood for two years now and eagerly awaiting its release on the Switch. As soon as I saw its premise and trailer, I fell in love with the idea, and once I got my hands on the bike's handlebars, I had an ethereal experience. I admit that the engine failing a few times was quite frustrating (having to wait a few minutes to continue the journey and then stopping again), but I don't regret all the landscapes I saw, the monsters I killed and seeing the daughter once again, after a long day of blood and death. It's a beautiful, unique adventure that will keep the persistent player engaged, even with slips and skids.

Laika: Aged Through Blood es un motorvania bastante increíble con una mecánica que nos obliga a afinar nuestras habilidades de una manera divertida y desafiante al mismo tiempo. Su narrativa cruda engancha desde los primeros minutos y logra emocionar hasta su poderosa conclusión.

Es un juego de fantasmas, en fin, especialmente hábil a la hora de ofrecerte loops interesantes y desafíos inteligentes y estimulantes a los que acabas recurriendo para, como Laika, refugiarte de esas presencias incómodas que te atenazan y, como decía aquel, te pisan el cuello para que no levantes cabeza: el niño muerto, tu madre, tu pueblo, la violencia infinita de la que vives rodeada. Es otro rollo, qué duda cabe, pero si has jugado a The Longest Road on Earth o Nongunz o incluso Iron Sunset seguramente no te resulte difícil seguir la línea que Brainwash Gang ha ido trazando juego a juego durante los últimos años, explorando a través de mecánicas y sistemas los impulsos que nos dan nuestra humanidad y también los que nos la quitan. Laika: Aged Through Blood es un paso más en esa exploración; puede parecer que va en otra dirección, pero en realidad busca lo mismo: llegar hasta el fondo, tocar hueso, enseñar las tripas.

Bolstered by a beautiful soundtrack and brutal story, its unapologetic approach to mastering both bike and bullet rewards learning from frequents death with some seriously slick and satisfying combat.

Laika: Aged Through Blood è un gioco semplicemente imperdibile. Ha una struttura familiare e insieme innovativa, ha un sistema di combattimento ad alto rischio, ma con salvataggi frequenti e racconta una storia struggente e forte. L'idea di esplorare un metroidvania in sella a una moto è fresca e avvincente, e tutto il gameplay a base di acrobazie per ricaricare le armi è una sfida approcciabile che aumenta di intensità in modo regolare. Il comparto artistico è ispirato, i personaggi ben caratterizzati e la colonna sonora è eccellente. L'unico difetto è che proprio le tracce musicali della talentuosa Beícoli sono legate a un collezionabile da raccogliere e quindi non sono subito a disposizione.

Un juego que se disfruta por su particular y genial manejo, y espectacular agilidad. Sabiéndose combinar con un sobresaliente diseño y una narrativa que te marca con mucha fuerza. Y creando con ello una abrumadora, preciosa y violenta aventura que no debéis dejar pasar. Así que dejaros llevar en moto a toda velocidad, entre piruetas apocalípticas, momentos llenos de amor, y vísceras de fascistas de pajarracos.

Laika: Aged Through Blood es un paso más en esa exploración; puede parecer que va en otra dirección, pero en realidad busca lo mismo: llegar hasta el fondo, tocar hueso, enseñar las tripas.

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a experience that every gamer should try. The hand drawn visuals and classical guitar bring the wasteland to life, while the unique controls and progressive difficulty keep the pace of the game from stalling out. The motorbike combat and exploration is fun and approachable, but takes time to master as you explore what's left of the world. While there are a few minor annoyances with the bosses and systems, Laika: Aged Through Blood is a stand-out title and I highly recommend it.

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a game like no other. While its influences are clear, the manner in which these aspects have been combined is masterful. Traversing the thoughtfully designed world and skillfully eliminating enemies feels great. Although it can take a while to truly get to grips with the mechanics, when it clicks, it’s incredible.

Even with some mechanics that make gameplay more difficult, Laika: Aged Through Blood leaves a trail of intense emotions as you maneuver a motorcycle through the desert against a relentless army. The contrast between the raw violence and the beauty of the designed scenarios and, especially, the songs with vocals, converges to the representation of human tragedies in the fight for survival in this unique, bloody and beautifully melancholic metroidvania.

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a must-play for fans of both motorbike action and metroidvania games. Its fast-paced vehicular combat, breathtaking hand-drawn world, emotionally resonant story, and innovative genre blend make it a standout title in the indie gaming scene. If you’re looking for an unforgettable gaming experience that offers both challenge and depth, Laika: Aged Through Blood is the game for you.

A completely different sort of Metroidvania hook, but be ready for some challenges, and not all likely intended

Laika: Aged Through Blood from developer Brainwash Gang is a wonderful and refreshing Nintendo Switch experience. It lends a brutal narrative that leads gameplay filled with strategy and challenges. While not everyone will take to the controls, which are an important part of the experience, the challenges and strategy will keep the frustration at bay.

Laika: Aged Through Blood caters to a hardcore audience in more ways than one but those who love it will certainly love it a lot. 🐺

Laika: Aged Through Blood can feel like a lot at times. There’s no one mechanic that on its own is an issue, but there’s so much to manage that this is a game with a very high learning curve. Still, this is a singular game that feels so unique that it’s hard to imagine players who it clicks for won’t fall in love with it.

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a rather unique metroidvania experience that scores with very satisfying motorbike traversal, and a melancholic atmosphere that's supported by one of the best soundtracks of the year.

Il gioco sembra essere coinvolgente e invoglia il giocatore ad andare avanti, pensando e agendo man mano in modo sempre più preciso e attento. Dall’anteprima del gioco si può dire che sia una tipologia di gameplay innovativa, anche per la storia in sé, che nonostante sia un po’ lenta risulta abbastanza scorrevole.

For all its missteps, Laika: Aged Through Blood remains a compellingly unique hybrid between high-speed bike stunts and brooding post-apocalyptic action. Those willing to look past difficulty spikes and polish issues will discover a mechanically and artistically ambitious indie gem.

At first, Aged Through Blood’s blend of Trails-style bike tricks, slow-motion gunplay, and exploration seems shrewd. But the mixture of mechanics eventually grows laborious across Laika’s 10- to 12-hour trek. If developer Brainwash Gang could get the action to match the quality of the exposition, I’d gladly ride again with this mama coyote.

Me quedo con la sensación de que Laika: Aged Through Blood podría haber sido un juego redondo si estuviera más pulido en su control y diseño. Mi partida ha durado unas 20h, y reconozco que lo he disfrutado y sufrido a partes iguales. Con una jugabilidad más ágil, la narrativa y la inmersión en la trama habrían ganado enteros. En cualquier caso, recomiendo probar Laika, dado que representa una propuesta sumamente original y cuenta con un arte sobresaliente. Si consigues dominar la moto acabarás disfrutando de recorrer El Yermo.

There's a lot to like about Laika – Aged Through Blood with its motorvania concept that absolutely delivers, offering a fresh and compelling take on the often staid metroidvania formula. Personally, the high difficulty was not for me, the grind becoming so choresome that getting the bathroom cleaned became deeply alluring. Still, if you like a serious challenge then you might enjoy Laika – Aged Through Blood. Just give it a miss if you're playing on a Nintendo Switch Lite or in handheld more.

Laika Aged Through Blood takes some time to get used to but offers a unique combination of gameplay styles. Still, it's not without growing pains, like button combinations not being as intuitive or the pace taking some misteps. There's still some cool ideas here in terms of gameplay and narrative that should be checked out even if you're only a little curious.

But, as I said, some of the time, if not much of the time, it works, and when it works, Laika: Aged Through Blood is top-notch entertainment in prime time, and proof that suddenly there is pure innovation on the indie scene worthy of mainstream attention. It didn't succeed all the way through, which is a shame, because with more fine-tuning of difficulty, enemy placements and perhaps giving the player more life points or "chances" from the start, the whole experience would have been more dynamic. But that shouldn't distract from the fact that Laika: Aged Through Blood is a bloody odyssey of timed and organised action. Well done.

Tenía mis dudas acerca del concepto “Motorvania” no estaba completamente seguro de como funcionaria en movimiento, pero… Brainwash Gang ha demostrado que la creatividad es el nuevo camino a seguir. En una industria aplacada por el conformismo y con refritos, hacen falta más saltos de FE como el que tenemos hoy presente. LAIKA Aged Through Blood es algo completamente nuevo. Diferente. Único. Especial. Un metroidvania con una vuelta de tuerca de lo más inusual que en la práctica funciona de las mil maravillas con unas secuencias de juego absorbente, adictivo y jodidamente implacable. No tiene piedad en despedazarnos, pero… allí radica su magia. Como si fuese un soulslike regresaremos, una y otra vez, a intentarlo de nuevo. Más capaces. Más precisos. Más letales. Encuentra el punto justo entre crudeza y emoción en un yermo implacable. LAIKA Aged Through Blood es la respuesta a la monotonía de la industria y a la falta de ambición. Es la respuesta a todos esas preguntas de medianoche ¿vale la pena probar algo diferente? Puedes estar jodidamente seguro. No tiene desperdicio alguno, una de las más grandes revelaciones del año. ¿Qué estas esperando para convertirte en la emisaria de la muerte?

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a fairly remarkable game, even if it got on my nerves something fierce due to its predilection for unnecessary mechanics.

If you like motorcycle games like the Trials series, and you enjoy Metroidvanias, plus you don’t mind aiming a gun while considering every tiny movement and action simultaneously, you’ll enjoy Laika. Just be warned that the game has problems and is likely to leave you more upset than satisfied.

Muchos metroidvania destilan un desafio en sus mecánicas, niveles y enemigos; pero Laika: Aged Through Blood realmente lleva la vara a sus mecánicas. Esa originalidad puede resultar frustrante al principio pero nada que varios intentos no puedan remediar. Al margen que tiene personajes muy carismáticos y un arte visual y sonoro muy cuidado.

A case of not knowing when to rein it in, as Laika: Aged Through Blood tries too much, committing only to the elements which serve to muddy up what fun can be extracted.

Laika: Aged through blood is one of the most interesting metroidvania in recent years. The combat mechanics with the motorcycle are truly original and, although complicated to handle at first, very satisfying for the player. Special mention to the artistic design and the settings that will dazzle more than one when they take control of the game. If you are a metroidvania fan, do not hesitate to get this game and if you are not and you like challenging games you will also enjoy it a lot.

Whilst I’ve listed a few nit-picks during this review, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Laika. Within the first few hours, I was already telling fans of the genre that they had to check this out, and that’s still the case now. I feel like the lack of a general buzz around this game is only down to the fact that it has launched during such a busy period of big-budget titles.

Si buscabas un juego que te sorprendiera, no busques más. Ese título es Laika: Aged through Blood. Su sistema de combate funciona, su historia, su mundo y sus personajes también. Te costará pillarle el punto a su intrincado sistema de control, pero una vez que pulses el acelerador ya no habrá marcha atrás.

Laika: Aged Through Blood es para mi, el gran videojuego español del año. Ha conseguido romper muchas de las barreras que otros no han conseguido ni acercarse ofreciendo una jugabilidad divertida nunca antes vista. Dándole una vuelta a un género que ya comienza a estar algo escaso en ideas como lo es el metroidvania. Su apartado artístico es demoledor, visceral, apasionado, no se priva de absolutamente nada. Y que decir de su apartado sonoro: es imposible vivir a día de hoy sin esa banda sonora que tanto me ha estrujado el corazón. Un juego maduro, único, con una manera de hacerte participe que pocos antes han conseguido. Tenéis que vivir la historia de Laika porque os aseguro que os va hará ver las cosas de otra manera.
