En definitiva, estamos ante una aventura que promete ser realmente fantástica. Por supuesto, tiene algunos puntos en contra, como su extremada sencillez en cuanto a los puzles que plantea, o sus localizaciones, cerradas y pasilleras. Sin embargo, su perfecta ambientación, la oscura y profunda historia, las elecciones, la banda sonora, la innovación gráfica de la que hace gala en ciertos momentos, las dosis estudiadas de acción, y sobre todo el amor y cariño que desprende el título, hacen de Blues and Bullets una aventura que nadie debería perderse.... 

As the first chapter of an episodic adventure, Blues and Bullets accomplishes everything it needs to—great writing, interesting characters, hints of a compelling story, and engaging gameplay are all present. I can't predict whether this level of excellence is going to be maintained, but as it stands, it is absolutely worth playing for anyone with even a passing interest in detective stories or Telltale-style interactive movies. They simply don't come any better. 

As a continuation of the Blues and Bullets story, Episode 2 does a great job of keeping the existing narrative flowing, while also letting us in on the history of the characters we’re following. It has the same issues as Episode 1, but these are issues with the game as a whole; gameplay outside of combat is fairly slow, and the movement in combat is scripted. But the voice acting is still great, the story is still compelling and I’m still looking forward to the next episode.

Blues and Bullets is what would come trickling out of a blender if you filled it with LA Noire’s detective story, Telltale Games’ quick decision making and episodic format, and Sin City’s art style. And yeah, it tastes good enough in the end to live up to that. Sure, the occasionally shoddy animations and the low-paced gameplay leaves a few chunks in the mix that you can either chew through or spit out, but Blues and Bullets is, for me, a must-buy.

Το Shaking The Hive προσφέρει πλούσια δράση, ουσιαστική κλιμάκωση της πλοκής και λειτουργεί ως άτυπη διαβεβαίωση για την συνέχεια και την ολοκλήρωση μιας εκ των πλέον ιδιαίτερων σειρών αστυνομικού μυστηρίου που έχουν περάσει από τις οθόνες μας. Πολλά συγχαρητήρια στην Crowd of Monsters και ελπίζουμε να μην χρειαστεί να περιμένουμε άλλους οκτώ μήνες για την συνέχεια της τελευταίας (;) περιπέτειας του Αδιάφθορου Ness.

Despite the aforementioned flaws of the game, A Crowd of Monsters has created a strong starting point for this episodic series. I for one am quite eager to see where Eliot’s story ends up leading and if you’re a fan of Noir fiction, or have a taste for the gritty, Blues and Bullets will definitely scratch that itch for you.

A conti fatti Blues and Bullets - Episode 1: The End of Peace si conferma un titolo visivamente evocativo e soprattutto coraggioso nel proporre tematiche così drammatiche. Sebbene la fattura tecnica e la difficoltà generale lascino a desideare, complice un sistema di controllo e di mira rudimentali, il comparto artistico in stile fumettoso funziona alla grande e arricchisce molto l’atmosfera, ulteriormente enfatizzata da una colonna sonora spettacolare. Il team spagnolo A Crowd of Monsters ha dimostrato con questo primo capitolo di saperci fare, proponendo quella che sulle prime sembra un’improbabile rivisitazione storica ma che ben presto rivela la sua vera natura malvagia, conducendo il giocatore in un dedalo di brutalità e violenza psicologica tra omicidi, mutilazioni e torture. Spero che anche i capitoli successivi si dimostrino all’altezza e che alcune sbavature vengano corrette; per ora il verdetto è comunque positivo.

Story elements in episode one don’t miss a beat, and things get much darker and twisted then I ever expected. Before I knew it, I had already played and finished the game in 100 minutes, and it left me wanting more. Blues and Bullets was a title I had very little expectations of, and it blew me away with a fantastic first episode. Now I wait with baited breath, a glass of whiskey, and the hope that each episode here on out is only more of the same quality or better.

Technical hiccups aside, Blues and Bullets is a raucous and relentlessly entertaining inaugural entry into the episodic adventure genre. The deft melding of historical characters and neo-noir stylings, together with a hefty dose of artistic license and appealing sleuthing gameplay mechanics all accrue to make Blues and Bullets one of the best surprises of the year so far.

All I can say is I am incredibly pleased with Blues and Bullets: Shaking The Hive. It delivers on almost all fronts. It still suffers from some technical difficulties that can at times be jarring, but the storytelling and character development is so brilliant and well done that it almost outweighs the one con it has. I hope they can use the luxury of having episodic releases to patch up some of these technical issues, especially if they’re going to take months to release them. Regardless, I can’t wait to see how this epic story unfolds as time goes on. I have nothing but faith and hope in A Crowd of Monsters at this point as they have proven they can tell a masterfully crafted story with nearly flawless execution.

Au final, je peux vous confirmer que j’ai adoré mes deux heures passées dans le jeu. Je me suis laissé porter par ce qui m’était offert à l’écran. Cependant, j’en aurais pris beaucoup plus. Ouais, je sais que c’est un jeu en format épisodique, mais ça passe trop vite. L’investissement vous en coûtera que 5$ alors, svp faites-en l’achat pour encourager l’excellent travail de ce studio indépendant. Monsieur Capone, on se donne rendez-vous dans quelques semaines.

Ένα ιδιαίτερα υποσχόμενο ντεμπούτο λοιπόν, το πρώτο επεισόδιο του Blues And Bullets. Εξαιρετική γραφή και ερμηνείες, μια αιματοβαμμένη κάθοδος στα άδυτα μιας αινιγματικής σέκτας αποκρυφιστών/δολοφόνων και εξαιρετική αίσθηση του στυλ, του ρυθμού και της σκηνοθεσίας. Παρά τις όποιες κονσολικές μικροπαραφωνίες, ο τίτλος προσφέρει αυθεντική μαυρίλα και πετυχαίνει απόλυτα τον σκοπό του : μας βάζει στο ρόλο ενός κουρασμένου ήρωα, ο οποίος θα προτιμούσε χίλιες φορές να ψήνει τάρτες από βατόμουρο στην κουζίνα του ακούγοντας λίγη σωστή jazz από το juke box του, αλλά βρίσκεται με το όπλο στο χέρι και την ψυχή στο στόμα, προκειμένου να σώσει το μοναδικό πράγμα που ίσως αξίζει να σωθεί, από αυτό το πανηγυράκι που ονομάζουμε «Δυτικό Κόσμο».

Am atemberaubendsten ist aber sicherlich die Grafik beziehungsweise der visuelle Stil von Blues and Bullets. So flimmert das Spiel stets in Grautönen über den Bildschirm , allerdings wird vor allem rot und dann speziell in den Schusssequenzen dargestellt, was einen netten und nicht zu übersehenden Kontrast ergibt. Apropos Schussequenzen: Während das Spiel größtenteils mit stabiler Bildrate läuft, gibt es in diesen leider ab und einige Einbrüche der Framerate, die das Spielerlebnis zwar kaum trüben, aber dennoch merklich auffallen. Imposant ist auch, dass die Synchronisation des Titels – komplett in englisch – hervorragend gelungen ist. So hören wir zum Beispiel die englische Originalstimme von Geralt aus The Witcher als Eliot Ness. Aber auch alle anderen Sprecher machen über die rund zwei Stunden dauernde erste Episode von Blues and Bullets einen guten oder sehr guten Job.

A Crowd of Monsters have created an enticing entry into this five-part noir adventure. Should the quality remain consistent throughout the upcoming episodes, Blues and Bullets may find itself standing proudly against the likes of the The Walking Dead and Heavy Rain.

Blues and Bullets is not without its flaw and suffers from a slight case of over saturation when it comes to player choice. But it’s without a shadow of a doubt, an incredibly well-crafted game loaded with charisma, a mature edge to story telling with some pretty entertaining gameplay and set pieces. Blues and Bullets is definitely worth checking out whether you a noire fan or love games with a great story and some engaging game design.

Una leyenda en horas bajas, un caso macabro, un aliado inesperado y un pasado lleno de sombras. Así comienza la prometedora historia de Blues and Bullets, un juego episódico que, con su primera entrega, nos presenta un producto con estilo propio y con un acabado muy cinematográfico. El argumento atrapa y la jugabilidad es sencilla y variada, motivos suficientes para aplaudir su lanzamiento y esperar ansiosos por el estreno de sus próximos capítulos.

There were certain issues throughout such as slight drops in frame rate which left the game a little sluggish in patches while some of the dialogue felt a little regurgitated. As a whole though If future episodes are anything like the first one, this could easily become a classic game for an already booming genre. Bathed in blood and suspense, Blues And Bullets leads the Episodic genre down a dark and exciting path.

Blues & Bullets finaliza su primer capítulo de una manera muy emocionante que nos deja con ganas de más, pero habrá que esperar unas semanas para ello. Pero hasta el momento hemos podido disfrutar de esta aventura creada por A Crowd of Monsters, aunque se nos ha quedado corta en cuanto a su duración. Es cierto que hay momentos que nos resultará con poco ritmo, y técnicamente no termina de ser una maravilla, todo lo contrario en cuando a su diseño artístico, pero su historia te engaña. Con buenas voces originales, no hubiera estado mal en nuestro idioma. Deseando estamos de conocer que nos depara Eliot Ness.

El único pero que podríamos ponerle a esta primera parte es que las decisiones que hemos tomado durante su transcurso, no han tenido una incidencia directa en lo que hemos visto, aunque yo personalmente pienso que veremos sus efectos en los próximos capítulos. En total completar al cien por cien este primer tramo de la historia han sido unas 3 horas y la verdad es que se me ha hecho realmente corto.

Blues and Bullets es una aventura que no tenía bajo el radar, atraído por su ambientación Noir la cual soy poco propenso a ignorar termine ante un título en construcción que a pesar de estar por debajo del aspecto grafico moderno, tiene bases sumamente solidas entre las cuales se encuentran un hilo narrativo plagado de suspenso, sublime voice acting y gameplay a la par de lo que el género demanda (con algunas desviaciones propias). El hecho de que se trate de un título de carácter episódico termina dificultando dar un veredicto estricto para algo que al final del día es una caja de pandora, pero Blues and Bullets es una aventura más que prometedora.

El segundo episodio de Blues and Bullets se ha hecho de rogar, pero Agitando el Avispero ha merecido la pena. Son dos horas de juego que se pasan volando gracias a un ritmo mejor y una historia que se va animando bastante. Es cierto que sigue habiendo algunas pegas, como los tiroteos, que encima esta vez son más largos, o que las decisiones siguen pareciendo insignificantes dentro del argumento principal. Sin embargo, parece que A Crowd of Monsters va por buen camino, y si logran seguir sorprendiendo como en este episodio, vamos a disfrutar mucho lo que nos queda de Blues and Bullets… siempre que la espera hasta los siguientes capítulos sea mucho más corta, claro.

If you enjoyed the first episode of Blues and Bullets you’re going to enjoy this one too. The story has me intrigued and I look forward to seeing how it plays out. Hopefully the developers won’t leave us waiting quite so long between the final three episodes of the season.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode of Blues and Bullets. It was a promising first episode that left me looking forward to episode two. However going forward I’m hoping for some tougher difficulty, lengthier episodes and a bit more to do. Crime and adventure fans should consider picking this up.

Essentially, Blues and Bullets: Episode Two is just what you’d expect; more of the same. When the focus of the game is on its storytelling however, and it’s just as solid as it was in episode one or maybe even better, that’s absolutely fine.  Running a little longer than the first episode at just less than three hours, the pacing lets it down a little due to the overlong shooting scenes, but it remains an absorbing experience from beginning to end nevertheless. Adding yet more layers to the web of intrigue, episode two of Blues and Bullets offers us few answers to the questions on our lips at the end of the first episode, but it doesn’t leave you dissatisfied; it just leaves you eager for the next chapter of the chilling and mysterious tale that’s unravelling to arrive. For a story-driven experience, surely that’s the highest praise that can be given.

Como ya dije en los comentarios del análisis del primer episodio en esta casa, analizar un juego por partes me sigue resultando extraño, y es por eso que no doy mucha importancia a la puntuación de cada capítulo por separado. De momento, los dos primeros capítulos de Blues and Bullets ya me han entretenido durante un par de horas cada uno y, de hecho, he sido incapaz de dejarlos de lado hasta que no los he completado. Hay cosas que no me gustan, está claro, pero si el camino ascendente sigue en los próximos episodios, mi opinión sobre esta obra no puede menos que mejorar con cada entrega. Como jugador, espero que así sea. Y que lleguen pronto.

Blues & Bullets tiene una oscura historia que engancha desde el principio que además deja con ganas de saber más sobre la misma y sobre lo que pasará con tus decisiones, si te gustan los juegos del estilo de Telltale Games más que a un tonto un lápiz no dudes en comprarte este primer capitulo como mínimo para probarlo.

Blues and Bullets sigue por el buen camino y nos presenta un nuevo capítulo –de 2 o 3 horas de duración- que sigue haciendo las cosas francamente bien. Su mezcla de géneros nos gusta, su historia nos tiene atrapados y su magnífica puesta en escena audiovisual no hace más que redondear lo buen juego que es. No es un juego perfecto, ni mucho menos. No profundiza en ninguna de los géneros que toca (aventura point and click, tiroteos, etc.) y tampoco los resuelve de forma brillante, pero consigue que el jugador no pueda soltar el mando mientras dura y, lo más importante: que se divierta. Y eso es lo mejor que se puede decir de un videojuego. Nuestra enhorabuena para A Crowd of Monsters por su Blues and Bullets. Ya tenemos ganas del tercero.

En resumen, un pequeño aperitivo (es el primero de un total de cinco capítulos) de menos de dos horas que, por apenas 5 euros, todo el mundo debería probar. Juego español, calidad de sobras y una historia realmente buena. ¿Te lo vas a perder?

El episodio 2 de Blues and Bullets constituye una continuación interesante, intensa y que no pierde el ritmo del primero, sino que añade algún elemento no visto hasta ahora, y esto resulta de agradecer. Un juego pausado, pero tenso, y una experiencia muy cinematográfica.

Este nuevo episodio de Blues & Bullets posiblemente no nos dejará tan impacientes y sorprendidos como sucedió con el primero. Aún así quieres continuar con la historia para conocer qué va a ocurrir. Eso sí, para eso habrá que tener paciencia y esperemos que esta vez el tiempo entre episodios sea menor que la última vez. A Crowd of Monsters está haciendo un gran trabajo con esta aventura y seguramente lo que resta seguirá siendo así. Una lástima que su duración sea tan corta y su rejabilidad nula. De lo que estamos seguros es que todos los jugadores que disfrutaron de la primera entrega, lo harán con esta. Aquellos que aún no lo han hecho ya están tardando, merece la pena.

Titolo investigativo che fonde in se parecchi stili di gioco: a mio parere, da provare!

Apostaría sin dudar a que el conjunto, que puede precomprarse por unos 20 euros en Steam y próximamente también para Xbox One, no me va a decepcionar, pero por el momento este primer bocado deja con mucha hambre. Es, sin duda, una promesa. Tenemos un mundo capaz de sorprender, unos personajes arquetípicos pero bastante sólidos –a mí me han parecido muy atractivos, aunque tal vez otros no les tengan tanto cariño a los clichés– y una madeja de hechos que acabamos de empezar a desenredar.

Overall the story hooked me, and while the gameplay wasn’t too impressive, the visuals and presentation helped push me through the beginning of this unique story. I do have a soft spot for the film The Untouchables so I might be a bit biased, but I would recommend this game for fans of the episodic adventure genre. It’s not as polished as a Telltale game but the story is unique and I’m intrigued to see where it will go in episode 2.

The first episode of Blues and Bullets has built up enough interest to keep players curious in a second installment. The game’s story, confident art style, and engaging crime scene investigation puzzles give the game enough intrigue to stay around. Unfortunately, in its current state, hiccups such as long load times, empty environments, and weak shooting sections hold it back from being something great.

Blues and Bullets es un buen comienzo. Quiere romper y proponer cosas nuevas en un género que parecía siempre igual. Cuenta con una estética visual que juega, sin duda, a su favor. La historia, además de terminar en cliffhanger en este episodio, tiene un planteamiento muy interesante de cara a los siguientes capítulos.

In its current form, it seems like a nice little series to tide people over with while waiting for their walk-n-prod adventure fix. Then again, I recall considering Life Is Strange (LiS) as a nice game to tide you over between Telltale Games’ episodic development time, and now Life Is Strange is the game I rant and rave about excitingly to all those who’ll lend an ear. There is potential for Blues and Bullets to increase the score in later chapters and become memorable, as the narrative definitely has me hooked similarly to LiS. It is just a question of where A Crowd of Monsters is going with this.

En definitiva, un segundo capítulo que nos deja con ganas de más, de ver evolucionar la historia, y de comenzar a ver un rayo de luz a esta interesante y triste situación narrativa que este Blues and Bullets nos propone.

Blues & Bullets no es perfecto, pero supone un soplo de aire fresco en el panorama de las aventuras gráficas gracias a una marcada dirección artística y un más que acertado sistema de investigación. El primer episodio logra con creces su cometido de prepararnos para lo que vendrá, y no puedo hacer otra cosa que recomendarlo.

Blues and Bullets is a game that might seem hard to recommend on paper. Campy dialogue,  unnecessary shooting scenes, linear environments, and wonky animations mar the experience, but underlying it is a vision and tone that’s fully realized in the brooding atmosphere, ominous plot, and brilliant visual composition. And it’s in this full embrace of the noir aesthetic that Blues and Bullets works.

A strong start for A Crowd of Monsters’ Noir adventure. Stylish, dripping in atmosphere, and compelling enough to keep you on the hook for the next episode. It has its faults, not all of which may turn out to be a problem when the series is finished, but for now they are outshone by the things this first episode does right.

En conclusión. Deciros que este Blues and Bullets es un interesantísimo videojuego, que mezcla a la perfección el cine negro, la buena narrativa, y todo acompañado de un apartado técnico de lo más llamativo.

Un juego que por su simpleza puede que no entre por la vista a aquellos que le gusta la parte de más acción del mundo de los videojuegos. Pero aquellos que sepan y amen el mundo de la novela interactivas, de las nuevas aventuras gráficas, o que simplemente le vaya este tema de crímenes y mafias, no dudéis en echarle vuestro guante a un producto que os aseguramos que no os decepcionará, y que incluso que os dejará con muchas ganas de ver que sucederá capítulo tras capítulo.

El primer episodio de Blue and Bullets destaca por introducirnos a una apasionante historia, aunque el apartado jugable se queda corto. Nos presenta a Elliot Ness y cómo ha llegado a dejar atrás su pasado.

En conclusión, el primer episodio de Blues and Bullets sirve como presentación, dos horas en las que nos darán muestras de lo que nos deparará en el resto de episodios, la historia es su punto clave y todo parece indicar que en los capítulos venideros tendremos más y mejor. 

Este primer capítulo merece al menos una oportunidad, el problema es que estás comprando un juego incompleto. Pero como no sabemos como va a ser la calidad de los demás capítulos comprar el pack con los 5 capítulos el algo arriesgado, sin embargo, tiene buena pinta y recomiendo darle una oportunidad al juego completo una vez puestas todas las cartas sobre la mesa.

Blues & Bullets ha aprovechado este primer capítulo para presentarnos a sus personajes y su interesante trama argumental, cargada con un montón de elementos del cine negro que también se hacen latentes en el espectacular acabado artístico del título, que se apoya en la elección de solo tres colores: negro, blanco y rojo, para darle un aire mucho más oscuro a esta entrega que mezcla componentes de aventuras gráficas y títulos de acción.

Sin embargo, pese a que la propuesta ha sido bastante buena y alentadora y nos ha dejado con ganas de más al finalizar (tras algo más de dos horas de juego) en uno de los puntos álgidos de la misma dejando al espectador con ansias de ver el siguiente episodio como si de una buena serie de televisión se tratase, nos queda la espina de que, en este capítulo 1, el estudio ha dejado bastante poca libertad de movimientos al jugador con una mecánica en los momentos de disparos prácticamente sobre raíles y con una dificultad demasiado sencilla a la hora de resolver los misterios que nos hemos encontrado a lo largo de la aventura.

El estudio barcelonés A Crowd of Monsters nos ofrece el primer episodio de uno de los títulos más ambiciosos dentro del panorama del videojuego español, una epopeya detectivesca con ciertos claroscuros pero mucho potencial.

Blues & Bullets nos ofrece una trama interesante en una macedonia de estilos y referencias. Blanco, negro, rojo, Noir, Eliot Ness, Al Capone, ocultismo e incluso algún pequeño toque de humor hacen de esta aventura episódica un contendiente a tener en cuenta, con algunos defectos jugables y en su realización, pero que llega al final del capítulo suscitando el suficiente interés para querer saber más.

Frente al protagonismo de la exploración, la recolección de pistas para el proceso de investigación (un tablón virtual donde colocar las evidencias y que se generen las conclusiones, la fórmula es bastante clásica), el combate parece más un pequeño interludio para liberar tensión y masacrar a unos cuantos matones que un verdadero pilar de carga del juego, o al menos eso es lo que sugiere el primer episodio. Habrá que esperar a ver cómo se desarrolla la historia y si esa imposición permanente de no permitirnos salir del margen termina justificándose con un buen argumento o si, como le sucedió al propio Eliott Ness, la obsesión con su propia causa acaba llevándole al último asiento de un bar, abatido y roto.

Blues and Bullets isn't perfect, but Episode 1 definitely left a positive impression on us. The visual style is infectious and atmospheric, and while it takes more than a few cues from Sin City, it adds a surprising amount of immersion to the storytelling. The first episode is also nicely balanced between casual exploring, action scenes, and a lengthy but satisfying crime scene investigation. There certainly seems to be a lot of adventure games around these days, and we're happy to state that Blues and Bullets is yet another one you should keep your eyes on.

If you've played a Telltale game, you should have a basic understanding of how Blues and Bullets plays out: tightly scripted scenes, moral choices, QTE battles, and not all that much interaction from the player. But its well-crafted film noir atmosphere—along with some honest-to-god puzzles—make this adventure more than just another copycat.

A Crowd of Monsters ha demostrado con este primer capítulo de Blues and Bullets que tienen potencial para desarrollar títulos de un altísimo nivel, algo que se echaba en falta en nuestro panorama nacional. Mezcla lo mejor de cada género, aunque tal vez este cóctel podría haber dado más de sí, con un poco más de libertad en las mecánicas y no siendo un juego con escenarios tan cerrados. Tendremos que estar a la altura de nuestra fama y resolver asesinatos explorando el escenario y recopilando pistas, echando un falta cierto nivel de dificultad a la hora de resolver los casos. Su estética lo convierte en una de las grande sorpresas de la temporada, con ese ambiente noir que encaja a la perfección con la historia, todo en blanco y negro a excepción a ciertos objetos con tonalidad roja. Artísticamente aporta un suspense y drama cinematográfico que hará que no perdamos el interés en ningún momento, llegando a hacerse el primer capítulo hasta corto. Todo esto acompañado de una excelente banda sonora digna de una gran superproducción, hacen del juego una sorpresiva joya que ha llegado a Xbox One para quedarse.

El inicio de Blues and Bullets deja con ganas de más y de que salga pronto el segundo episodio, lo cual es bastante bueno. Sin embargo, sus problemas de ritmo pueden hacer que más de uno se aleje de esta historia de Elliot Ness, y ese es sin duda su principal problema. Lo peor es que ese problema de ritmo viene por una parte de exploración, que luego continúa en otra parte de exploración mucho más interesante. Si para los siguientes episodios consiguen mantener el ritmo que se consigue tanto al principio como al final del episodio, además de avanzar la historia de forma interesante, podemos encontrarnos ante una buena propuesta de aventura noir episódica.

Blues & Bullets no busca diversión ni acción frenética si no meter al jugador en una película de gangsters y convertirle en un auténtico detective.

The first chapter in a series, this game has to make a catching opening, and it somewhat succeeds. A few bizarre twists and noted historical mutations left me equally confused and intrigued — it’s enough that I won’t dismiss the game right off the bat, but I have a hard time fully endorsing a season’s pass just yet. We’ll have to see if the next episodes expand well enough on what’s been established to warrant an immediate investment. At six dollars, though, this is worth trying out.

Blues & Bullets has a lot of potential and The End Of Peace is a glimpse of that. There is a foundation for a very good mystery thriller, as well as a basis for well thought out characters. The first episode comes across as being too eager to show you everything all at once, instead of taking things slower and allowing you to absorb what just happened. The script is good but has moments that don’t seem that logical, but in spite of this The End Of Peace is a decent start to the series.

A Crowd of Monsters clearly wanted to create a very ambitious and stylish adventure in Blues and Bullets and the sense of style and presentation are mostly impressive. Some awkward dialogue and pacing issues aside this is a solid first chapter and I’m looking forward to going deeper into these murky noir adventures.

En resumen, una aventura imprescindible si te gusto la primera parte, o bien te encandila los juegos visuales al estilo Sin City, y que deja con ganas de más gracias a su narrativa y trasfondo realista de la historia. Cierto es que hay algunas aventuras mejores en el género, como el reciente Life is Strange o The Walking Dead pero la aventura española de A Crowd of Monster puede considerarse única. Por el momento este segundo episodio está disponible en PC (versión que hemos analizado) y Xbox One, aunque se espera que llegue en un futuro a PlayStation 4.

So there are noticeable dips in the experience, and the game remains a little jagged in technical terms (Capone still looks like a half-melted waxwork of himself). Ness and the world he inhabits resemble history less than ever here, too; the episode would work just as well with a cast of entirely fictional characters. The story nonetheless remains intriguing, and we’re keen to see how things develop. A Crowd of Monsters’ ferocious determination to set the game apart in terms of style also, again, benefits the experience greatly. The mostly black-and-white presentation still looks cool, and one section that breaks from form for overtones of horror is tense and memorable. The decisions we made in the post-credits sequence were quickly regretted, and we’re eager to see what consequences, if any, follow. Let’s hope it’s not another seven months before we can find out, eh?

The difficult decision is whether Blues and Bullets can be recommended yet. Shaking the Hive is a good follow up to The End of Peace, but the recommendation really lies on the future release schedule. There can’t be another eight month wait between this and episode three, otherwise all the story building done here will be forgotten. As an experience Shaking The Hive does well to continue the story and does so with better pacing. The shooting sections are good, but do take more time than seems right in what is primarily an investigative title. Blues and Bullets is shaping up to be an intriguing game, but it may be worth waiting for the complete package.

So is Blues and Bullet’s Episode 2 worth your time?  The majority of you reading this will have already played Episode 1, in which case you pretty much know what to expect from Episode 2.  The story, having been laid out so well  in the first episode, does start to pick up momentum here, and some of your earlier choices do begin to have an impact, but many of the problems that were apparent in the first episode still remain.  The game does benefit from a few quicker, more action oriented set pieces, which does serve to counteract the games overall pace problems, and as such Episode 2 does improve (slightly) upon what came before.  Hopefully these improvements will continue to be made by the time Episode 3 comes out later in the year.

Por lo demás, Blues and Bullets se presenta con la seguridad de saberse importante en la industria española. Su fe ciega en la historia y la estética puede jugarle una mala pasada a la larga si el guion no termina de tomar las curvas adecuadas o si su sistema de investigación detectivesca tan simple y elemental (querido Watson) no escala de alguna manera en próximos episodios y se estanca en ese pinchar pistas y colocarlas en un tablón que no supone ningún tipo de desafío. Tiene mucho margen por delante para mejorar y equilibrar su apuesta, pero de momento lo que ofrece Blues and Bullets es un solo hall de entrada bonito sin ser perfecto y lo que podría convertirse el inicio de una bonita amistad. O todo lo contrario.

Although Blues and Bullets isn’t without its flaws, this first episode sets a distinctive comic-book, crime-noir attitude compelling enough to keep you playing and looking forward to what the series will offer in future installments. Anyone who enjoys classic noir fiction or the decidedly modern, bloody take on it offered up on the grim streets of Sin City will find a lot to like here.

Blues and Bullets has a very rough start, but it has enough shining moments to keep players intrigued to see where Ness’s story will roll. If the developers work more with the gameplay, fine tune the controls and add some difficulty with the sleuthing sequences, and continue to ramp up the story, then they will have an indie sleeper hit, even with the low quality character models. They also need to prove that the choices players make for Ness mean anything, because it’s hard to say how any of it at this point matters at all. Even as it is now, however, it’s well worth the $5 an episode.

En general nos llevamos una buena sensación de este segundo episodio de Blues and Bullets, aunque no tan positiva como con el primero. Técnicamente no ha experimentado mejorías, aunque tampoco ha empeorado, y lo mismo podemos decir de la trama principal. Innova ligeramente, y el ritmo mejora, pero no sabemos por qué, el resultado final no nos resulta tan redondo como el del primer episodio. ¿Tal vez haya sido por la larga espera, que nos ha enfriado los ánimos?

There’s brilliance here, to be sure, but it comes in momentary spurts, and it lets itself be too often interrupted by uninspired gameplay and unnecessary flashbacks. If you enjoyed the first episode, then the second is an easy recommendation. But for those still thinking about diving into the series, Episode 2 suggests a bit of movement in the wrong direction. A few minor tweaks for the next episode can easily right the series’ course, and I look forward to jumping back into Ness’ shoes again to see where this ride is taking me.

It's hard to recommend Blues and Bullets Episode 1 because it feels like two games in one. The first half feels tedious, confusing and poorly paced, but then the second really shows the promise that A Crowd of Monsters has put into the game. If Episode 2 can really keep up the momentum that the second half of Episode 1 had, we're in for a treat. Otherwise, this is one cold case you probably shouldn't open again.

Though its first episode is a bit of a letdown, especially when you consider that A Crowd of Monsters was billing this as one of the most anticipated titles of 2015 (whether or not this is true is another story entirely), there is a chance that Blues and Bullets might wind up being something special. It’s art direction and its mood are definitely things to behold, but a great deal of pacing issues and occasional technical problems prevent its first episode from being something that can be wholeheartedly recommended. Still, this is the type of mediocre beginning that might wind up being a bump in the road rather than a sign of things to come, but that’s something that only time will tell. One thing is for certain, though: if the next four episodes are of this quality, Blues and Bullets will absolutely not be in the same ballpark as games like The Walking Dead and Life is Strange.

Episode Two has lost some of the magic I admired in the first one. Becoming more of an action-orientated affair with bland cover-based shooting, tacky QTEs and daft animations. But, it’s still interesting due to its highly engrossing narrative, visual style and even though simple, the investigation was powerful in heightening the tension and impact of the story. The gameplay mechanics aren’t the strongest here, as the game has clearly expanded, and by making things bigger the faults have become more apparent. I hope that the next episode would focus a little more on the investigation with more depth and a little less action. Introduce some dynamic elements for the action, such as bosses, to increase the tension to make the investigation a little bit more challenging. 

De momento, poco mas podemos decir del Blues & Bullets. Es obvio que ya solo por su dirección, diseño artístico y guion merece mucho la pena. Esperemos que, en sucesivos capítulos, corrijan todos esos fallos que hemos detectado. De ser así, podemos estar hablando, no sé si de una obra maestra, pero sí podría convertirse en un pequeña joya del desarrollo patrio. Veremos.

I really want to love Blues and Bullets. It could have been a good start to the series, but there are some really frustrating elements, and it baffles me how the developers looked at them and said, “yes, this is the product we want to release to the world”: the terrible semi-fixed camera that moves in an unpredictable manner as you move around, the boring gunfight segments, and the fact that, for a standalone episode, pretty much nothing actually happens. But if it capitalizes on its strengths, polishes its mechanics up, and fixes those issues I mentioned, then future episodes of Blues and Bullets could definitely be winners.

The story and voice acting do a great job of quickly laying out whatever it is you have to do, so much so that I was confident with my decisions that I made when playing as Ness. It is for this reason that I am tempted into buying episode 2, in order to see how the choices I made impact the story further down the line, provided Ness buys a pair of trainers to make him move a bit quicker.

Blues and Bullets is een game met veel potentie, maar de uitwerking laat in deze eerste episode nog te wensen over. Een pijnlijk voorbeeld hiervan is de pc-versie. Kort gezegd is deze weinig geoptimaliseerd. Op sommige momenten draait ‘ie vloeiend, op willekeurige andere is ‘ie nauwelijks speelbaar. Gezien de verschillende klachten hierover ligt dit niet aan onze pc (we hebben de game in zowel Windows 8.1 als 10 getest). Desalniettemin is dit een titel om rekening mee te houden. De ambitie is er en de vormgeving onderstreept dat A Crowd of Monsters een getalenteerde studio is.

El primer capítulo de Blues & Bullets deja sensaciones encontradas. Al soberbio trabajo estético y de guión se contraponen dos horas de juego en las que se lleva al límite el concepto de película interactiva y en las que no se requiere demasiado al jugador.

A neo-noir aesthetic, gruesome investigations, and pending showdown between Eliot Ness and superhuman cultists separate “The End of Peace” from its genre rivals. However, awkward dialogue pauses, no worthwhile choices, and an inexplicable alternate timeline stop this episode from surpassing them.

So it’s a bit of a mixed bag for me, really. I found the tone was dropped a touch due to the shooting sections, and some of the more frustrating dialogue and choices created a rather chaotic experience. It’s also a damn shame that the game holds back on the investigations. I’ve said this once already, but it bears repeating: they are the best thing about the game.

The second episode of Blues and Bullets falls short in enough ways to make it easy to recommend staying away from it at this point until all five episodes are out in the wild. First and foremost, not enough consideration was given to the fact that it’s tough to dive back into a narrative-heavy episodic title after eight months, even with the sequence at the beginning of the episode depicting some of the major story beats. There is simply far too much assumed knowledge necessary to dive back into Blues and Bullets and feel totally at ease with the proceedings, which is sad considering that a line of explanatory dialogue here or there would have completely solved this issue. Add in the fact that the shooting sequences are far too long and mundane for their own good, and Shaking the Hive feels more like a slog than the thrilling entry it clearly had the potential to be. On top of all of this, several unnecessary scenes and a general feeling of sterility from some of the most potentially powerful moments make Shaking the Hive a missed opportunity. With that said, Blues and Bullets still boasts an interesting premise and the potential to right the ship after its weakest entry to date, but the current path its on doesn’t necessarily bode well for the future.

I have no interest in finding out where the plot goes, because so far it’s Arbitrary Events In The Lives Of Wooden Characters, but I do want to find out which dramatic places it will show me next. It’s also not impossible that Blues & Bullets might find its stride now it’s got initial over-excitement out of its system. I’m frankly amazed that there aren’t more rivals/homages to the Telltale style, but at least part of that is because Telltale games are sold more on license than style – and most small studios couldn’t bag a big license. Blood & Bullets has free reign to do what it wants, and in some respects it makes the best of that. Again, it could be fantastically interesting with better pacing. I just hope its later episodes can spend more time on the basics – characterisation, movement, animation, interactions with purpose – rather than burning everything on overblown sets. Blues and Bullets’ ambition is untouchable, but for its own sake it needs to calm right down and focus on what matters most.

Como carta de presentación, “Se acabó la paz” es una prometedora forma de comenzar este Blues and Bullets. Tan sólo por su excelente ambientación, su intrigante guión y sobre todo por su maravilloso apartado artístico ya reúne bastantes cualidades para convertirse en uno de los mejores títulos independientes del año, y un producto español del que sentirse plenamente orgulloso.

No suelo comentar estas cosas porque me resultan irrelevantes, pero algo me ha mosqueado mientras jugaba a esta entrega, algo que ya estaba en la anterior. Hace seis meses escasos me he comprado un nuevo ordenador, de sobremesa, un titán. He movido todo tipo de juegos, actuales, en calidades demenciales. Blues & Bullets, sin embargo, me ha dado problemas de rendimiento. Tirones, caídas de frames. Situaciones donde el rendimiento parecía desfallecer.

Dejando esto aparte, que se puede deber a mil motivos distintos, el juego cumple en el mismo sentido y de la misma manera que el anterior. Esta neo-aventura gráfica para aquellos encantados con la anterior entrega.

Overall, episode 2 does well with representing the classic noir theme. If  you’re into Telltale games and episodic storytelling, definitely take a chance on Blues and Bullets. You will not be disappointed.

“Agitando el avispero” no se desvía apenas de lo que pudimos ver en “Se acabó la paz”. Para los que ya estamos enganchados a la trama y la ambientación de Blues and Bullets, y somos capaces de disfrutar de lo bueno que puede ofrecer un videojuego perdonando sus fallos (que se centran básicamente en la jugabilidad) es ya un imprescindible. Los que no disfrutaron del primer episodio no encontrarán aquí nada que ahora los motive a continuar con el resto de entregas. Y a menos que esta tendencia cambie radicalmente, que no lo parece, tampoco lo harán de aquí en adelante.

En definitiva, un pequeño cóctel de buenas ideas que no pretende ser revolucionario pero sí engancharnos con el atractivo de sus personajes y una trama que nos atrapa desde el primer minuto. Habrá que ver cómo evolucionan el resto de episodios y si vemos más cambios jugables.

Las aventuras cinematográficas siguen explorando nuevos caminos, y Blues and Bullets es una buena muestra de lo que el género puede llegar a ofrecer, añadiendo nuevos ingredientes a la fórmula, como escenas de acción o investigación detectivesca. Aunque al ser tan parecido a los juegos de Telltale o al haber tomado prestados personajes como Eliot Ness o Al Capone se le podría tachar de poco original, lo cierto es que Blues and Bullets cuenta con un mundo con personalidad propia, capaz de dejar imágenes con mucha fuerza. Ya está disponible el primer episodio, y si os gustan este tipo de juegos deberíais echarle un vistazo.
