So, yeah, it’s fair to say that White Noise Online is more of the same with a few add-ons, but these new features do lend a lot to the experience. I’m not sure I’d be happy to big the game up if it was little more than exact same with the option to explore with others, but the character perks, the new maps, the ghostly resurrections and the futile mapping of your aimless wandering gang up to bolster viability. It’s made the original title, which I really enjoyed for the three months of its applicable life span, completely obsolete. 

White Noise Online can become a boring search if you play it on the low difficulties, but crank it up to Hard or Nightmare and you’ve got an excellent horror game on your hands. The fact that it can take multiplayer and make it work for the horror elements of the game is a fine testament to what this studio can do. There are only a few maps to play on, but the size of the maps, as well as the randomization of where the cassette players can be on those maps, will keep them interesting even after you learn where to go. It’s a steal at $1, and it’s a blast if you only have a few minutes free to scare yourself before bed.

Würde sich doch ein dreiköpfiger Affe im Spiel verstecken! Dann hätte ich einem Kollegen wenigstens zurufen können: "Hinter dir!"... Doch White Noise Online versenkt jeden Spaß und jede Spannung völlig humorlos. Das lauffaule Monster lässt keine Spannung aufkommen, die drögen Kulissen wurden aus weniger Bausteinen zusammengesetzt als ein Level des ersten Doom und das Erforschen der eintönigen Schauplätze zieht sich schlimmer als Kaugummi. Man darf sich ja nicht einmal von der Gruppe trennen, um im Alleingang wenigstens die Idee einer Gänsehaut zu finden. Unterhaltsam ist hier nur das Zeitraffer der gelaufenen Wege nach Spielende. Schade um die gute Idee!
