Vortex Attack doesn't break the arcade shooter mold, and it doesn't have to. The simple mechanics, combined with a fun variety of enemies to disintegrate, lead to chaotic and addictive battles. Varied ships, power-ups, and bonuses give it high replay value, and it allows for same-screen multiplayer (a rarity in this age). Overall, it's cheap, it's fun, and I highly recommend it. Anyone who is a fan of those old school, classic shot-em ups, then we’ll think you’ll really enjoy this one. Vortex Attack is a reinvention of those classic games, with clear, vibrant colors and addictive gameplay. Even though it does get repetitive rather quickly, for £3.99, it’s great value for money. Vortex Attack is a great Arcade-style Space Shooter that can steal hours of your life. The different ship types change up the gameplay more than you would think, and the large amount of levels gives the game surprising depth. The first few levels can start out a bit too slowly, and the boss battles are a little dull. However, if you’re into Arcade Space Shooters, this is a no brainer. For anyone else, I highly recommend you to give it a try. The game is really cheap and those vortexes won’t destroy themselves! Read review

Vortex Attack stays true to the genre’s roots, which may or may not be a great success. Both veteran and new players of arcade shooters will love the game’s explosive frantic action but the lack of randomization in enemies and mechanics may lead to a daunting gameplay experience. A good variation of enemies, vessels and colorful backdrops do make up for it and the new game mechanic of trying to implode vortices certainly kicks the gameplay experience up a notch. All-in-all, Vortex Attack is a great addition to the retro arcade-like space shooter games. Read review

Read review
