To get straight to the point, Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is pure fun, plain and simple. And this is all thanks to simple yet highly-addictive gameplay that will have you hunting down every possible event and ending you can, sharp writing that isn’t afraid to get as bonkers as possible and delivers impressive black comedy, a roster of characters that continues the series tradition of giving players the most lovably insane misfits possible, and memorable multiplayer action that deserves to be shared with as many friends as one can gather. Developer Beautiful Glitch has been open about the possible updates and sequels in development, but even as is, this is one bizarre and amazing camping trip that you won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is a worthy successor to the impressive first title in the series. The setting might be less engaging but the characters and the interactions are on par if not better. The team has refined its writing and style in interesting ways. The game also makes it hard to wait and see what they can deliver with the rest of the titles in the series. Read review

Monster Camp is brilliant – doesn’t overstay its welcome thanks to a short but sweet campaign that can have its length customizable but is also endlessly replayable thanks to its great writing that you’ll rarely re-read even after dozens of playthroughs. While the gallery is sorely lacking, it’s still a minor gripe on an otherwise fantastic game that plays well, is brilliantly written and often hilarious which has its solid Visual Novel nature paired with a great art style and a kick-ass soundtrack. An easy must-buy to anyone fond of dating sims, visual novels or simply well written games that don’t take themselves seriously. Read review

If you enjoyed Monster Prom (which you did because you have excellent taste), then Monster Camp is a great continuation of that experience. It doesn’t change things up massively as far as gameplay goes, but that’s because very little needed changing from the original. Monster Camp is still one of the most exciting dating-sim/visual novel releases this year, with mountains of content for those of you get through. So gather your friends, get on voice chat, and get ready to woo some monsters. Monster Camp is out now for PC. Read review

Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is a great evolution of this series as it builds on the foundation of the previous entry, capitalizing on what makes it so great. The multiplayer mode will provide the best experience this zany monster dating game has but at the cost of a dull single-player offering. With so many collectibles and charming monsters to date, this is one prom you don’t want to miss. Read review

With its wealth of content and comedy, Monster Camp establishes itself as the year’s premier dating sim. Fans of the original will feel right at home; the gameplay remains relatively untouched, save for a number of adjustments. Read review

Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp feels like a huge continuation of the first game. If you enjoyed the first, then it goes without saying that you’ll get a kick out of this sequel, too. It’s wacky, fun, violent, hilarious and a whole host of other awesome things. The dialogue is as brilliant as ever and includes topical references to today’s pop culture. The characters are charming, weird, sexy and adorable – and you can’t help but love them. Finding a date to the meteor shower is a challenge, but when you do eventually watch those flying space rocks hurtling through the sky, you’ll be happy you’ve got your chosen monster by your side. Monster Camp in a nutshell is about enjoying the story, admiring the whacky, graphic-novel style artwork, and building up your stats over the course of the summer to make sure you have enough points to win over your monster and secure a date to the meteor shower. The dialogue features a great deal of vulgarity, and it’s certainly not meant for the eyes of children. It’s outrageous and hilarious, and the scenarios are just as over-the-top as you would expect. It’s all about savoring the journey, and for most fans of this genre, there is a lot to appreciate. Read review

Overall, Monster Camp is a great dating sim to play with friends. It doesn't do a lot to separate itself for the previous game and those who aren't fans of the humour will have a hard time enjoying it. That being said, it's a solid game that's made better by its style, writing and great characters. Those looking for something a bit different in the genre, Take a chance with Monster Camp. Still, in the end, Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is a great sequel to the original. If you liked the first game or visual novels with a goofy sense of humor, then you’ll get more than your money’s worth by playing the game. It doesn’t even matter if you never played the original game before. In fact, there’s an option to turn off any story beats or references that you’d only get if you actually played through the original game. Hence, it’s easily approachable to new and inexperienced players. Whether you want to try it on your own or if you’re invited to try it with your friends, you should definitely give Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp a shot. If you do, you’re guaranteed at least a couple of laughs for a while. Read review |
