Micro Pico Racers certainly ticked the boxes for me. It just about balances a tough level of challenge with enough enticement to come back and try again. The different race modes and increasing difficulty curve are complemented by the range of cars suitable for the various challenges and track types. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an expert time trial to complete.

Josep Monzonis se estrena en la escena independiente con un título sencillo pero bastante correcto, con el que es posible pasar un buen rato (sobre todo en compañía). Su multijugador local a cuatro se presenta como la mayor baza, además, el añadido del modo online puede resultar interesante y darnos algunas horas mas de juego, aunque dudo que se forme una comunidad lo suficientemente grande como para mantenerse en el tiempo. Si Micro Pico Racers os llama la atención seguramente sea por su estética, su sencillez y su multijugador; puntos fuertes que pueden ser suficiente para quienes se sientan atraídos por la propuesta y paguen su precio (7,99). Pero si por el contrario no os llama la atención difícilmente os pueda llegar a conquistar, puesto que su humilde concepción le pone un techo bajo a sus aspiraciones.

Micro Pico Racers has a lot of heart, but not the follow-through. Diehard Micro Machines fans are better off playing the classics rather than diving into this one.

There’s an argument to be made here that the low entry price is perhaps reason enough for the experience you’ll be getting with Micro Pico Racers. Ultimately, though, racing games need to be fun, and this really isn’t that fun. It’s a shame, because the game isn’t broken in any way, and actually runs very well for the most part. But the gameplay just isn’t up to scratch, and you’ll be better off leaving this at the pit stop.
