Death or Treat is great fun for all. I love the little inspirations the game takes from real work icons as well as movies we all know and love. The game works very well, has gorgeous looks, sounds fantastic, and runs perfectly on the Steam Deck. If you want to Wishlist the game on PC you can visit the official Steam page for the game. Death or Treat es una de las más gratas, divertidas, y duras sorpresas que me he llevado últimamente dentro del mundo de los roguelike bidimensionales indie. Y es que el juego de la gente de Saona Studios ha sabido mezclar y dar un estilo muy particular a un roguelike de acción que en muchos puntos os va a recordar a los grandes del género.

Death or Treat, in definitiva, risulta un gioco molto valido ed apprezzabile che sicuramente riesce a farsi strada tra i numerosi prodotti presenti sul mercato.

Death or Treat es un título que no dejará indiferente a ningún jugador que se interese por HallowTown. Sus personajes rebosan personalidad y las fuertes referencias que tiene nos sacarán más de una sonrisa.

Si bien su dificultad no es muy alta, Death or Treat sin duda es un roguelite de acción que te ofrece un desafío admirable y bastante entretenido. Con paciencia, agilidad en los plataformas y una buena gestión de los recursos, todo va sobre ruedas.

Por cosas como la animación de las cinemáticas, la ambientación de sus fases, los juegos de palabras, los efectos de cada golpe y todas esas referencias políticas y sociales, este indie creado por un estudio español es un juego que, como poco, tienes que probar.

Death or Treat entrega o básico do gênero roguelike bem feito até certo ponto, mas não se arrisca em oferecer algo inovador. No entanto, a experiência é positiva, principalmente para jogadores que não estão acostumados com o gênero. O combate é fácil de dominar, porém um pouco tedioso com o tempo. Mas o título consegue cativar por conta de sua excelente direção de arte e movimentação fluida de seu protagonista.

Death or Treat nel bene e nel male cattura l’attenzione con il suo stile grafico piacevole e aggraziato nei modi. Seppur non molto originale nelle sue meccaniche, il titolo è assolutamente consigliato per i fan del genere per il suo livello di sfida. Discorso diverso per i neofiti: Death or Treat è sì consigliato, ma con riserva. Le sbavature sul lato tecnico sono spesso presenti e, specie in alcuni punti, rovinano l’esperienza che rimane pur sempre discreta. Bene ma non benissimo!

Per Saona Studios, l’esordio con Death or Treat è più che positivo, anche solo per tutto il lavoro che c’è dietro una realizzazione così dettagliata di HallowTown e dei suoi folkloristici abitanti. Tutto è disegnato a mano e la qualità è davanti agli occhi di tutti. La progressione del protagonista, invece, sarebbe potuta essere più snella e immediata per permettere al giocatore di avventurarsi con più tranquillità nel pericoloso universo ideato dallo studio di Madrid.

In short, Death or Treat is a very pretty game with a nice soundtrack. It looks like it should be fun. Unfortunately, after a certain point–when you reach the first boss–it stops being fun. I really hope the control issues are the result of a lackluster PC port and not inherent to the game. Either way, I don’t think I’ll play it again until the controls are fixed.

Death or Treat has a charming Halloween vibe, but its repetitive gameplay mechanics and awkward loot system do make it hard to recommend when compared to other roguelites. It’s not that anything is bad at all, but rather that it lacks to depth and creativity to keep players hooked in for long – especially with its tiring emphasis on gathering randomised loot. It just doesn’t do anything I haven’t seen done much better in other roguelite titles.

It’s strange that Death or Treat makes these kind of ‘old skool’ mistakes, as it manages to make a reassuringly positive first impression thanks to its slick presentation. This is a game delivered with confidence and gusto, but one that also serves to remind that good looks will only get you so far.

Had there been more variety on offer, a few more random elements to make Death or Treat‘s playthroughs feel more varied, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this roguelike. It looks great, its Halloween theme is wonderful, and even though its internet parody worlds might be a little tonally dissonant, they still raise a smile. But there needs to be more to keep it feeling interesting, and as it is, slashing through the same enemies in the same environments time and time again just isn’t quite enough.

Death or Treat tiene un ambiente encantador de Halloween, pero su mecánica de juego repetitiva y su incómodo sistema de botín hacen que sea difícil de recomendar en comparación con otros roguelites. No es que nada sea malo en absoluto, sino que carece de profundidad y creatividad para mantener a los jugadores enganchados por mucho tiempo, especialmente con su énfasis agotador en reunir botín aleatorio. Simplemente no hace nada que no haya visto mucho mejor en otros títulos roguelite.
