Despite the aforementioned grumble, BOOR remains an enthralling, charming game that, with its beautifully rendered, challenging levels and innovative central mechanic, will have you hooked from beginning to end. Read review

Read review

n conclusion, this is a very well put together game. Aside from the bosses being a bit longer and a bit easier than I’d like, this game does what it does very well. There are clever and satisfying puzzles alongside some good and not overly demanding platforming. The game has a good difficulty level. The puzzles require some thinking, but I doubt you’ll ever be starting at a room wondering what to do. BOOR took me just a couple hours to beat, and costs $5. It also has a speed run mode that eliminates the cutscenes. While it does have fun platforming, there’s not much reason to go through it again unless you want all the collectibles and achievements. If you like puzzle platformers, I can easily recommend this. Read review

I enjoyed BOOR, or at least I did, until Room 82 – which I assume is pretty close to the end. The required level of finesse and patience required to beat this room is just absurd and ultimately prevented me from finishing the game. It’s disappointing that more effort wasn’t made to balance the difficulty to provide a more fluid experience. I appreciate the desire to create really difficult challenge rooms, but add them as a bonus to the main game. I appreciated the graphic style and I absolutely loved the soundtrack. The story wasn’t overly original, neither were many of the puzzle concepts, but for the most part, everything worked well together. I wish I could recommend this whole-heartily, but as it is now, this game is only for those looking for a short but serious challenge. Read review

If you don’t really care for puzzle platformers, BOOR probably won’t change your mind. If you like puzzle platformers with good puzzle design and don’t mind them being a little on the easy side, you should enjoy BOOR and I would recommend picking it up. Read review

BOOR is a stylish, incredibly well crafted Indie game, that on the surface seems to take a lot of inspiration from outside sources, but it doesn’t take long for it to shine in its own way. Aside from a few frustrating difficulty spikes, and loose end with the story; the game is a fantastic puzzle platformer, and definitely a hidden gem of the genre. I would highly recommend giving this game a try if you're a fan of puzzle platformers, and like a good challenge. It's a beautiful 2D journey into a dark mysterious land, and its unique mechanics will keep you entertained throughout your adventure. Read review

Read review

BOOR comes to Steam with charm, beauty and substantially interesting puzzles to get through, but it is its story that lets it down. Without progression of the narrative along with the difficulty of the puzzles, it becomes quite easy to lose sight of why this special girl with her grey clone is even bothering to save a place she appears to have no connection to. With all its softly menacing music and blood-red atmosphere it appears that BOOR is just like Eden, a bit empty. Read review

For those looking for the kind of wind-me-down indie title that can still rustle up a good, nuanced frustration from time to time, BOOR will meet that demand (if not exceed it) without letting its potential annoyances get in the way or become the focal point. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to find in this brief puzzle-platformer that warrants the case a bulk of the developer’s true focus was really, truly invested that deeply. The simplified and illustrative presentation is a pleasant assortment of pinkish-reds and greyscale tones and the way this basic geometry can at times deliver something a little more complex and demanding in the gameplay front can be regarded the game’s real height at points. A pleasant experience it may be, just don’t expect anything other than conformity to a tried-and-tested formula. Read review

Read review

This is the sort of game that makes my frustrated trawling through the Steam mire a worthwhile endeavour. Sweet, splendidly delivered, and a bargain for a game you’d not heard of until just now. Read review

Like I said at the beginning, based off its own merits BOOR does exactly everything it needs in this genre of games. It’s fun and addictive but there are moments I wish BOOR thought outside the box. There is no stand out feature here that is innovative and makes this a must buy. It’s a solid well made game if you enjoy the genre. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel essentially. Coming in at €4.99/$4.99/£3.99 I can easily say it’s a safe purchase, coming far below the usual indie standard. This is more than a fair price and I recommend this game to anyone who loves the aforementioned games. Read review
