007 First Light finally delivers a modern Bond game that understands the character beyond the action scenes. Combining stealth, spycraft, cinematic storytelling, and IO Interactive’s design strengths, this is easily the best James Bond game in decades.

While Enchanted Portals has some gorgeous art and animation to look at, it simply fails at the bits that really matter: gameplay and design. The shooting is tiresome, the randomised levels go on for too long and the lack of a more efficient saving system is just criminal. While the game is relatively short if you persevere, whether or not you’d want to is another matter entirely.

If you’re looking for an indie title that will captivate you for a few hours, Endling: Extinction is Forever is a great game and one with a very powerful emotional message about how humans are affecting the world and the environment around us. Extinction is Forever and this is a game that helps drive home that message.

While I’ve never been a big fan of time loops set against a clock in games, Treasures of The Aegean made me look forward to each new run. With a wonderful story, a game map that is truly epic in scope, beautiful animation and comic book style design and wonderful platforming mechanics, Treasures of The Aegean is an essential game for your library with two great lead characters that I hope we get to see more of.

Super Magbot

Overall, Super Magbot is a great platformer with literally hundreds of levels and even more challenges in the form of online leaderboards to compete with other gamer’s scores. The game is merciless in how it punishes small gameplay mistakes so if you’re not a fan of challenging gameplay, enable the assists and enjoy the game without additional stress factors. We recommend Super Magbot but only if you’re a fan of platformers and challenging games. If you’re playing this title on Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to enjoy it in short bursts on the go, which would mitigate much of the frustration caused by the harder levels.

Sword of the Necromancer

Overall, what Sword of the Necromancer may lack when it comes to a unique visual design and level variety, it makes up for with the narrative hook and satisfying monster-summoning combat. Whether you’re hacking your way through your foes using weapons or a carefully selected menagerie of monsters, combat feels good and you’re only ever one boss away from more story content. With player-assists now available for those who would prefer a tough hack-and-slash experience, and several upgrades that improve the flow of the roguelike experience, it’s easier to progress without long slogs between new narrative beats. Make no mistake, it’s still a tough game that’ll punish you for reckless play, but the gameplay now feels more in line with the developers narrative ambitions.

I would like to emphasise the word talent in my previous paragraph as there is a lot of it on display here. The Count Lucanor is a game that doesn’t achieve true greatness, but it brushes up against it so many times that it is definitely worth the price of admission. Any fan of horror will be well served well here.
