Other than a few beefs with the gameplay and speech bubbles, Moons of Darsalon is a decent challenge and looks and sounds fantastic. There’s even a built-in GIF maker, plus 3D vehicles as well. Check out some other reviews, playthroughs and whatnot, but this is worth a look if you like some of the titles referenced in this review.

The Crown of Wu

Make no mistake about it, Crown of Wu wasn’t a game that resonated with me, despite having an interest in the source material and this type of game. However, the three core elements of the game didn’t gel, and as a result, it won’t be a game I’ll be returning to. Regardless, do check out other reviews, as they’ll differ from mine.

I think it’s a decent indie horror you need to try out. There’s a decent balance of puzzle and action, and naturally, those first few playthroughs make it all worthwhile so that you might just be able to get the ending where you don’t die. If that’s possible. Though this is their first array into horror, WildSphere has managed to delve into another genre with success, and is arguably their best game so far.

LumbearJack

Despite that longevity element, LumbearJack undoubtedly gets a thumbs up from me. That family-friendly aspect is a definite winner, and I dare you not to get caught up in the cuteness of it all – irrespective of your testosterone levels and headshot counts. Even when my little one was at school, I picked this up, played by myself, and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you don’t mind finishing this in one sitting and are happy with the price, I’d say go for it.

El Gancho

I mentioned that the game looked a little like Lemmings in places in the news post. As an Amiga veteran, this holds a lot of nostalgia for me, and as a result, El Gancho has a glow about it – like a low-key indie that would be free on a cover disc that you’d end up playing more than any triple-A or the “£500 value software” that came with it. Though challenging mechanics, Casiopea Wave’s indie might be worth a look if you’re a swinging VIP.

Not just a revamp of Timothy Vs The Aliens, but Timothy's Night is one of the best PS5 titles to make use of the DualSense, include tons of updates from a small team such as new aliens and NPCs, a charming soundtrack and familiar gameplay if you're a friend of Timothy.

BodyQuest

BodyQuest is a family game aimed at children but best played together as you can genuinely puck up some truths you may not have known. No opportunity is wasted as the loading screens offer up facts too, and a bucketload of parents will be pleased to see that. It’s like an animated version of a YoYo Bear.

Tiny Lands is bliss. It’s a well-structured sandpit offering a decent challenge and some zen-like scenes to chill to at the same time. It would be great if it gets DLC down the line, but as it stands, more than enough replay for even those with a Rainman-like memory. Ask your folks.

Super Soccer Blast should be in your library if you’re into arcade football games, but the additional two titles in the Super Sports Blast bundle are excellent standalones (well, they were in the first place). I’ll admit I wouldn’t have sought out the other two, but having played them all, I can’t stress what good value this package is. Regardless if you’re a fan of the sports or not, Super Sports Blast has a certain charm to it that will mute the inner sports cynic in you.

Flying Soldiers doesn’t lure you in from its presentation and features, but good old fashioned gameplay. It might not be for those seeking a hardcore puzzle game, but if you’re open to try something new that is pretty addictive and increase your love for the French horn (or is it bugle?), look out for it on PS4, Switch and Steam.

King Lucas is much better than I anticipated. Ignoring the minor glitches and loading times, it’s fun, if somewhat easy. It will likely appeal to those looking for a more laid back adventure or even some younger gamers to cut their teeth on a classic platform model than the more die-hard player, however.
