Que no os engañe que Monster Prom se presente como un simulador de citas, porque es mucho más que eso. Se trata de una experiencia rejugable basada en partidas rápidas que ofrecen una diversión sin igual a través de sus situaciones y diálogos. Dichos diálogos, el diseño de personajes, el sistema de estadísticas… Todo ello hace de Monster Prom un juego prácticamente único en su género. El género de los simuladores de citas de monstruos para el baile de graduación nunca estuvo tan vivo.

Overall, it’s definitely a game worth trying. The sheer number of ways you can play this game gives it insane replay value. If you think you’ll appreciate the humour, definitely give it a few tries.

I never would have imagined a multiplayer dating sim working, but boy, does Monster Prom work. It rests on a framework of superb character art and hilarious scenario writing, then goes several steps further to offer a challenging competitive experience and an addictive solo one. I still haven’t discovered everything or dated everyone at the Monster Prom, but by ghouly, this game made me want to.

Monster Prom is simply a lot of fun backed by some really great art and writing. We can easily recommend this title if you love dating sims, or if you are a fan of witty writing and lots of laughs.

Monster Prom is Hatoful Horror. It is an offbeat take on the horrors of teenage relationships. A great art style and some amazing writing make it easy to just plug in and replay. If you are ready to go back to high school, but just because this time it might really be the end of the world, then Monster Prom is worth a selling your soul for, or just buy it on Steam instead.

Ultimately, such foibles ought to be expected for a game that is not intended for drawn out marathoning. You are meant to pick up Monster Prom, take a crack at a new target, try out some new decisions or events, and then leave. The writing may make sticking around longer enticing, but it dries up the well – and what is there is absolutely marvelous, and worth preserving. For this reason, it fares a bit better as a multiplayer game than a single-player one, a standalone entry in a genre that is not known for catering to that demographic. For the lone Casanova, it is still most certainly worth giving a go, so long as you’re aware of its limitations going in.

Monster Prom’s formula is simple: Pick a monster, choose the right answers, and go to class in between. While this doesn’t sound like a whole lot, there’s lots of beauty to be found in this game. It’s a dating sim that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s what makes it a game to bring to a party. Multiplayer can get intense when both players want to take the same monster out for one of the best nights of their lives, while single-player is also a very viable mode that’s lots of fun. Replayability is high thanks to more than a thousand different outcomes and hundreds of various events. Monster Prom is a night that shouldn’t be missed.

De todos modos, lo que los va a atraer y lo que los va a hacer quedar unas cuantas partidas es el carisma. Monster Prom es super simple pero muy bien pensado y es una gran excusa para encantarse con personajes carismáticos con más sustancia de la que aparentan. También ejercita de maravilla la imaginación junto con nuestros amigos, de manera que en la vida real no podríamos pero que acá son el pilar de lo que hace este juego tan divertido. Y no se preocupen si les echan sus prejuicios en cara mientras juegan, después de todo ¿Quien nunca se sintió un poco monstruoso?

Monster Prom è un dating sim pregiato che scardina i dettami del suo genere per offrire una formula appagante e creativa. Oltre a essere un titolo godibile sia in singolo che in multigiocatore, cosa rarissima per un simulatore d’appuntamenti, è anche un capolavoro di umorismo da internauti. La ricerca dell’amore non è mai stata così frustrante e divertente allo stesso tempo, soprattutto per via dell’eccentricità derivata dalla scelta di ambientare il tutto in una scuola americana di mostri. A racchiudere il tutto c’è uno stile artistico eccezionale che riprende alcuni dei canoni più giovani del panorama fumettistico americano. Per il prezzo richiesto, è un’esperienza eccezionale che però avrebbe potuto giovare di un comparto sonoro più incisivo, e qualche variabile in più.

Es imprudente considerar Monster Prom solamente como un juego de humor. La posición que sus desarrolladores mantienen con respecto al futuro de los dating simulators, y la manera en la que el juego se incorpora a la conversación al respecto de la representación del amor en videojuegos, deben ser muy tenidas en cuenta. Pero es que, además, Monster Prom es divertido. Ligero y ocurrente de una forma que el verdadero amor no podría, en ningún caso, igualar. 

Monster Prom XXL is hilariously written and you’ll have even more fun if you’ve got someone to play with—either online or locally. There’s over a thousand endings to get between the base game and DLC and the cast is likeable enough to want to see all of their scenes. It’s just a shame the deciding factor is solely based on stats, making the majority of your character-related dialogue options feel pointless, otherwise this would have easily been an 8. That small flaw aside, I enjoyed my time with Monster Prom XXL and I have dozens of playthroughs ahead of me to clean up the rest of the events.

In the end, Monster Prom’s charm stems from its thematic elements. Fantastic interactions, its satirical narrative, and the monster theme offer a unique spin, even if it doesn’t deviate all that much from known formulas. But, it does bring a little more to the table, a party for daters who are in it more for the ride than the destination.

In Monster Prom non si arriva alla quadratura del cerchio, non c’è un vero climax né la giusta tensione che ci stimola a conquistare il nostro partner. Avrebbe potuto essere un gioco molto più godibile e coinvolgente, considerando gli assi nella manica che potevano essere giocati, ma che lì sono rimasti e che hanno fatto portare a casa ai fantastici ragazzi del team una vincita più scarsa di quanto avrebbero potuto racimolare. Ormai les jeux sont faits, ci vorrebbe un’altra partita per rifarsi!

L'idea alla base di Monster Prom è buona, inoltre la direzione artistica denota un'ottimo character design e un umorismo davvero indovinato e divertente, pieno di situazioni che giocano con archetipi mettendoli alla berlina o reinterpretandoli in chiave bizzarra. Considerando però il prezzo di 12 euro a cui viene venduto, sarebbe però stato lecito aspettarsi una maggior mole di contenuti sul versante grafico e nella longevità.

Some part of me thinks that I am taking Monster Prom too seriously, talking about the lack of character development and little tactical play when it’s just trying to be a silly party game. I just feel that the game has such potential and when playing it on my own, local multi-player and online multi-player, these problems just kept persisting. I think it’s a fun and quirky party game but misses out on being more than just that.

Monster Prom had so much potential and so much to offer that I couldn't wait to tear into it. And on a superficial level, it's an interesting experiment that I thought I would love. Unfortunately, just like the monsters you're courting, once you get to know it it's only a great-looking shell with some fairly rotten insides. I'd like to see updates come down the line to open up new romance options, additional things to do, more purpose for the stats, and improved writing. Until then, I'll be sticking to the dating sims that don't try and court me with "shocking" writing that's tamer than what comes out of my mouth on a daily basis.

No hay un gran aplauso al final de esta historia. Ni ‘Monster Prom’ me ha cambiado la vida, ni ha conseguido que mi interés por el género dé un giro de 180 grados, pero sí me parece una propuesta muy divertida que, a la hora de jugar con amigos con alguna copa de por medio, puede dar para una tarde muy entretenida.

No sería justo cerrar este análisis sin hacer una mención especial al apartado artístico y de sonido, que hace un trabajo excelente en caracterizar a los personajes y otorgarles el más que necesario carisma para hacernos querer competir por su corazón en cada partida. Y hay que reconocerle ciertos méritos: no es tarea baladí combinar tantos elementos diferentes en un mismo título y lograr conseguir una experiencia entretenida y bastante pulida en la mayoría de aspectos. No obstante, en el fondo la sensación que queda es la de que quiere abarcar más de lo que debería, y por ello termina por no resultar extraordinario en ningún área en concreto. Aun así, es un juego muy simpático con un espíritu bastante fresco y desenfadado que calará bien entre el público concreto al que quiere apelar.

A pesar de sus partidas cortas, el juego está lleno de situaciones y finales por lo que no se hace nada repetitivo. Monster Prom se puede disfrutar tanto si eres fan de las aventuras gráficas como si quieres reírte un rato jugando en el sofá con los amigos de las burradas que hace Demian con el fuego.

Nos encontramos ante un título irreverente y muy divertido que va más allá de los clichés sociales sobre el amor y el sexo. Uno de los elementos que más interesantes nos ha parecido es la libertad que da Monster Prom a la hora de elegir con quien queremos salir, sea chico o chica, o que incluso nos permita definir el género de nuestro personaje más allá de masculino o femenino. Todo un acierto que sin duda muchas personas agradecerán.

No será perfecto, porque nada lo es en este mundo. Puede pecar de repetitivo a la larga o el bucle musical puede cansar, pero dejando de lado estos pequeños apuntes, el juego es brillante en su conjunto. Es tremendamente divertido en grupo y abre el prisma de como los géneros no dejan de ser más que etiquetas. Podemos hacer con ellos lo que nos de la gana.
