This is surely one of the most intensely frustrating games ever, but is not rewarding enough to be worthwhile. 

It's a compromise between action and exploration, between the series' history and contemporary trends, between traditional presentation and modern technology. It's the best Castlevania game we've played in years and it might be the best action game we've ever played on a handheld console.

Fun multiplayer partly makes up for lousy solo play. You'll need some willing chums. 

It's certainly no Broken Sword.

It looks great, but you'll end up feeling like a mindless zombie playing it.

A solid game that you'll have fun with. It's just a shame that the slightly annoying controls slightly dampen the experience.
