Other than its graphical and mechanical shortcomings, it is designed and presented very well, and I would strongly recommend this to its intended age of 4-8 (it says so on the box). The games and levels are broken up into short chunks and the narrator is constantly giving positive feedback, so this game will not overbear a child. Also, the cut scenes and characters are very charming and unique. Ultimately, this game fails to take advantage of the Wii's motion capablilities or graphic's engine, something that could have made this a really great, truly interactive game for young kids; but instead it feels more or less like a PC port from 10 years ago. However, there is still a lot of enjoyment that younger kids will find in the game's animated characters and coloring games, and the humor is clever enough at times to hold parents' attention as well.

Like I said in the opening bit, my kids really dig Cosmic Family – at least for the time being. The game offers top-notch kid-friendly presentation and a solid selection of kid-level mini-games. And if it were not for the fact that Cosmic Family just does not offer the degree of depth or longevity of similarly priced grade-A titles, it would be a sure recommendation.
Give it a weeklong rental, and if the kids are still asking for more, go ahead and pick up a copy. And let those kids go off on their own. But make sure they wear the wrist strap, right?

However, if you absolutely need something to keep the little ones busy, you can definitely pick up Cosmic Family on the cheap, and there's nothing to worry about when it comes to offensive content or overly difficult or obtuse controls. It's the perfect game to plop in front of a five-year-old for an hour or two, but don't expect to have your kids coming back to it down the road. Maybe give it a rental first, if possible, and see what the ultimate critic, your own kids, think about Cosmic Family.

Cosmic Family is certainly not for the average gamer, but it does prove to be an interesting title for the younger demographic, with simple puzzles on offer and a family friendly design. Priced at just £19.99, the game may well be quite a tempting prospect for those looking to treat their small children.

As a parent with two very young daughters of my own, I'm always on the look out for Wii games that they can actually grasp and play. Cosmic Family may be the best option yet with its very easy to understand interface and simple minis, but it also feels like a game that was meant to run in flash on an Internet browser and not a full-fledged Wii product. Bearing that and some of the sound glitches in mind, there are much better values for your dollar.

However even the appeal of Cosmic Family will be short-lived to any demographic as it is very much on the short side. Rather than being a complete box set of a whole television series (or even a few shows) it is probably best summed up as an interactive episode. Yes, just the one, and no more. Priced below many of the budget titles currently available for the system, it is no gem or worthwhile purchase financially. It may be a clever rental to keep the youngsters amused for an evening, but no more.
