While The Mageseeker can feel a little bit didactic at times, its willingness to stake a clear ideological claim when so many of its contemporaries shrink like violets at the mention of politics is refreshing. It backs this up with compelling gameplay, an excellent soundtrack and vibrant pixel graphics. If you like media that combines high-octane action and bombastic political intrigue, The Mageseeker is well worth the time. 

Like Ruined King, The Mageseeker gives League of Legends new legs. Those who don’t fancy playing the main game might find something much more enjoyable here, with a completely new genre. Fans of the main game will get to see some of their favourite Champions in new situations, or even learn new lore about them. The Mageseeker is another reason for both fans and newcomers alike to be excited about where Riot are going to take League of Legends in the future, and despite it’s relatively short runtime it’s a solid action adventure in its own right.

While The Mageseeker's offerings as a whole create a wonderful experience for League of Legends fans, it is held back by some bugs. I experienced numerous bugs ranging across the board. In one instance, the map wouldn't appear for an area which made it difficult to search around for recruits and collectibles. Every so often, enemies would sit in place and just take a beating. In another instance, I couldn't read a conversation because I approached an area from a strange angle, so part of the dialogue bubbles were cut off (it's a weird one, I know). That said, the issues I experienced should be pretty easy to iron out and I don't doubt The Mageseeker will be quite polished once a few small kinks are worked out.

El producto final, The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story es muy agradable, realmente un orgullo por el estudio español que hay detrás, que han sabido recrear la historia de un personaje tan carismático dentro un universo jugable de lo más complejo. Unos movimientos y jugabilidad atractiva que puede atraparte por su combate, una estética trabajada y detallada, y de paso se nota el estudio que han tenido que hacer para muchos escenarios. Todo esto se queda en un buen RPG, nada largo y agradable para la mayoría de jugadores que busquen en el género algo meramente distinto. 

Overall experiencing The Mageseeker as a League fan is an entertaining break from the Rift accompanied by a stellar soundtrack, visuals, and engaging gameplay. For the moderate price of $29.99, The Mageseeker: a League of Legends Story gives Runeterra’s fans a unique way to explore more of their favorite universe. 

En definitiva, cerrando está review de The Mageseeker, podríamos resumir el título en pocas palabras: gran historia con una acción frenética cuanto toca. 

Riot Forge has an incredible track record of matching studios with the right project, and this is the best example yet. It is such a strong execution of an idea that it ultimately suffers for being underscoped. Had The Mageseeker had the full force of Riot behind it I can easily see it being a game of the year contender, but it feels like the publisher isn’t ready to go all-in on these outside projects yet. I don’t think Sylas’ story should end here, and I’m excited to see what Digital Sun does with the world of Runeterra next.

Si bien es un juego que no enamorará a todo el mundo, en mi caso lo ha hecho y eso es motivo suficiente para mí como para recomendároslo a todos vosotros, además viene de la mano del estudio español Digital Sun que ha estado poniendo todo de su mano por traernos un producto fiel al lore y que logre transmitir las vibes de estar en el universo de League of Legends. 

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story resulta ser un juego imprescindible para los amantes del juego MOBA de Riot Games, pero que tiene bastantes problemas que no podemos pasar por alto. El principal sería lo monótono que se hace después de cierto número de horas de juego, pero también hay otras razones por las que podríamos decir que no es uno de los mejores juegos de la historia, pero tampoco lo busca precisamente.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story manages to retain the essence of what it is to play Sylas, but suffers from consistency issues with its storytelling.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story es un juego atrevido, cuidado y maduro. Lo es a través de su propia historia, que se aleja de discursos blandos que sugerirían que la rebelión no está justificada a pesar de la opresión; y lo es a través de su forma de expresar las ansias de venganza de Sylas en cada golpe de sus cadenas. Se notan los cuatro años de amor y pasión que Digital Sun ha dedicado en pulir un juego certero y robusto, un estudio que muestra de forma cristalina lo que son capaces de hacer y hasta dónde pueden llegar a pesar de que no han podido lucir con toda su intensidad. La buena noticia, con todo, es que lo mejor aún está por llegar.

The Mageseeker es un buen juego y, sobre todo, una pieza indispensable para todos aquellos jugadores que quieran descubrir más sobre el universo de League of Legends. En especial sobre la historia de Sylas y Demacia. Premiará a aquellos usuarios que decidan jugarse toda la historia principal y las secundarias. Ahí ofrecerá más detalles sobre toda esta historia. La experiencia de juego se disfruta muchísimo. Cualquier amante de este tipo de juegos RPG y del lore de League of Legends querrá tenerlo en su biblioteca.

The Mageseeker era una conjunción casi perfecta para un fan del LoL. Una historia interesante, personaje carismático y un estudio con un buen juego previo. Sin embargo, y a pesar de que tiene momentos realmente épicos y aspectos tan logrados como los combates contra jefes, se queda lejos de lo que podríamos esperar.

There are a few typos in the game’s UI, like the status effect ‘inmune’, or receiving a blessing with an extra S. But despite a few small issues, I otherwise found this Riot Forge title to be another smooth ride through League’s increasingly complex canon. The Mageseeker makes the smart move of setting up some truly hateable villains, and then lets me smash their hopes and dreams — what more could I want from a game about toppling the elite? 

Tanto si conocéis a Sylas, como si no, The Mageseeker es la oportunidad perfecta para descubrir el amplio y rico lore que esconde uno de los mejores MOBA de la historia. Enhorabuena por el trabajo Digital Sun Games.
