What’s great about Scrapland is this robot society. The graphics take most advantage of this with unique imagery and high levels of detail. The audio also is impressive as the voice acting in particular gives these robots personality.

Scrapland has virtually everything that you could wish for in a game although a little more gameplay variety would be welcome. It's loaded with humor, action, great graphics, interesting characters and a kicking soundtrack.

Acción y aventura a lo grande. Explora los rincones de Chimera, habla con sus habitantes y pilota tu nave lo mejor que puedas. Si buscas un juego diferente y muy divertido no puedes dejarlo pasar porque merece la pena.

Scrapland creates a stunning new world, a setting of unique architecture and character design and hopefully marks the birth of a new franchise.

The bright, solid graphics pushed me to keep playing just to see new locations and by then I was immersed in the game's conspiracy. You couldn't do much better amidst this season's adventure PC games.

I know the potential is there because there were some cool segments where I had to race someone else to hunt down a certain number of items, and a few escort/defend missions, and some fun racing. The flag hunt and deathmatch modes are present in multiplayer, in addition to team deathmatch and CTF, and you'll get to play them in areas taken from the game, which is cool, but I would have liked to have seen more variety and lateral flexibility in the single-player.

So, is Scrapland worth the bolts? It’s no GTA but it’s a nice change. If you’re really itching for a good sci-fi game with a good sense of humor, then look no further.

Those that love unique stories, settings, and characters will adore just tooling around in this mystical land, but those looking to give their reflexes a workout will be left wanting more.

Had the controls been a bit more responsive for the ship-flying portions and the robot smashing just a tad more smoother, we would have had the perfect robot action game this side of "Metal Arms: Glitch in the System."

While I can't find any excuse not to have included online play in the Xbox version of the game, I can't deny that Scrapland is still a lot of fun. The game isn't perfect by any means, but most of its shortcomings are made up for by its entertaining characters and plot. American McGee has always had talent for crafting some truly original stories, and thankfully Scrapland is no exception.

Mercury Steam has surprised us all with their sci-fi adventure tale Scrapland. This original presentation from American McGee is a nice diversion from everything else on the market. Scrapland is definitely worth the low price of admission and anyone who is curious should pick this one up.

Scrapland is dripping with charisma despite its two-dimensional characters and decaffeinated storyline. The compulsion to return to Chimera again and again is hard to resist, even if it's just to satiate your curiosity of how good things could have been.

It presents players with a unique twist to the sub-genre as well as a highly imaginative and beautifully designed game world that will let you lose yourself in all the unique characters and environments as well as the often humorous dialogue.

Scrapland is a game that's exceptionally tough to dislike, despite the fact that many of the things it tries to do just don't quite work. The underlying game design is flawed in several key areas, and the story isn't quite as satisfying as you'd hope. However, Scrapland has just enough going for it to make it enjoyable to play through while you experience the whimsy and inherent goofiness of its quirky and unique world. It's the intangibles that ultimately save Scrapland from the junk heap, and, thankfully, there are enough of them to make it a recommendable play.

The game certainly does have hiccups here and there and once you get inside the buildings it is obvious the developers went a little too far in making them too big.

Too many repetitive missions and clunky AI limit the overall experience for the player though. Scrapland’s concept is unique enough and there are enough quirks in the game to keep most players occupied.

Stylistically, Scrapland looks amazing. The characters have a cartoon-y, "Futurama" groove going, and the city itself is the kind of visionary, noirish setting Ridley Scott might have used in "Blade Runner" if he hadn't been so in love with rain and grime.

A good-looking game that offers inoffensive, simple gameplay that's likely to suit the tastes of most gamers. Due to knowing exactly what you're meant to be doing at all times, it loses the complete immersion that games like "Beyond Good & Evil" and a few others in the genre have managed to accomplish, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

n the final analysis, Scrapland is fantastic eye-candy. I wish I could give it a higher rating, I really do. It's sort of like saying you loved a really bad movie (like "Plan 9 From Outer Space") or saying you really hated a great movie (like "Gone With The Wind"). As a rule, I don't read other critics' reviews of games I am working on until I have published, but in this case, I wanted to see if anyone else had the same troubles as I did with the control scheme. A few did, but it seems that I am going to be in the minority when I give American McGee's Scrapland a mediocre score. The whole is just not up to the sum of its parts.

It is worth your time and money, as it offers gamers an experience never played before, even with the subtle similarities to "GTA". In the end, this is no "GTA," good or bad, this is Scrapland and in a league all by itself.

How can it be that a game with such a recognizable name in marketing has fallen so short of expectations? Is this a cash in? Can Scrapland be more than just its name implies? The gameplay that Scrapland offers to its players may be more than a half-assed crack at game design and storytelling, not to mention dabbling with the very sheik idea of open-ended activities. But it definitely falls short of its potential, skimping on voice talent, mission variance and structure, and that principal fusion that makes the whole game feel like one big ball of fun. Injecting a few different types of internet/LAN multiplayer won't make up for any of that. Scrapland must be seen for its positives too, though, such as smooth game control and a very interesting usage of player character mimicry in order to complete missions. Not to mention that it's quite pretty. Unfortunately, in the end, it may leave players wondering why they're engaging in conversations with NPCs that, like the story, world and mission structure, contain so much empty air.

There's no heart in the design. It's a beautiful world with enjoyable characters and it's engaging for a while, but it runs out of ideas way too soon to be any lasting fun.

I really have a hard time deciding what I hate more about this game: Is it the horribly grating characters and voices, the lame setting, or the incredibly sticky flight controls?

As cool as the visuals can be, they're ultimately like a flashy paintjob on a car without much under the hood. The amount of unimaginative busywork and lame repetition in this game is really unfortunate. Still, Scrapland shouldn't be summarily thrown on the scrap heap. It has a unique look and feel, and the aerial combat can be good, simple fun.
