Call of the Sea is a puzzle adventure that should be played by all fans of the genre. Its writing and environments are strikingly immersive as the player and Norah find themselves traveling deeper down this rabbit hole of mystery. There are moments of confusion in its design, but all the tools are present to explore this beautifully charming adventure; my only wish is that it was longer.

given the fact that the title’s namesake, A Simple Story, rings true throughout the entire quest, it helps it break the rules a little bit, especially the simplicity of how the time shift never once caused any of the frustrations that I had with the game. So I say if you’re a big as of a sap as I am but not as fussy about controls, Arise: A Simple Story is well worth the time. It’s a story that stayed on my mind well after the closing credits.

Look, I like Blasphemous. It’s a game that’s unique in presentation, and despite the slight disconnect with the game mechanics, it’s a solid adventure game. Most of my criticisms stem from whether or not The Game Kitchen focused on so much heavy lore that it affected the game from feeling more tangible or exploring more innovative gameplay mechanics. But if everything I said is not an issue, then you will have fun with this title. A “fans of the genre” if you will. I’m just not a fan of having lore completely takeover a world I’d rather explore on my own.

Yuppie Psycho is a surprising title that I ended up loving fairly early on in the adventure. The symbolism and metaphors about office life shine in a disturbing way that could make someone question going into work the next day. While gameplay elements, boss battles, and exploration is a huge part of the game, I think it was Brian’s determination that had me wanting to see this adventure through until the end. I applaud the writers of this game as there are just some moments that really connected with me whether in a humorous or somber way.
