Buena calidad gráfica que cumple su cometido con una jugabilidad muy asequible y sencilla.

Como os momentos de sobrevivência ou perigo são mínimos, creio que Charon's Staircase não se destaque tanto dentro do gênero de terror. No entanto, para quem gosta de narrativas cheias de mistérios e puzzles, o título entrega uma trama muito bem construída e quebra-cabeças igualmente criativos.

Creo que Indigo Studios ha hecho un buen trabajo en algunos apartados de Charon’s Staircase como son la historia, el narrador en español, y sobre todo con los puzles. Se nota que el estudio tiene claras las ideas y como quiere llevar al jugador desde este prisma. Sin embargo, la ambientación y el apartado técnico no acompañan. Esto empaña la experiencia terrorífica del juego o de suspense, ya que no se logra en ningún momento. Estamos ante un estudio con muchas ganas y con ideas muy buenas que tiene que afinar en estos temas. Sin embargo es de agradecer que estudios nacionales se embarquen en aventuras como esta y traten de abrirse paso en un mercado, cada vez más competitivo.

Charon’s Staircase es una buena opción para pasar miedo en Halloween.

Charon’s Staircase is a first-person horror game in which you will take on the role of Special Agent Codename Desmond who must find and remove all of the documentation and evidence of the evil acts performed by one Doctor Lewelin. You’ll spend around 5-7 hours playing this one depending on your experience with puzzle solving, as you dive deeper and deeper into what really happened. Charon’s Staircase is out on PlayStation 5 with a $34.99 asking price. There’s also a PlayStation 4 versions available as a separate purchase for the same price.

Charon’s Staircase is more a thriller than a horror with a very intriguing story that has some pretty cool twists. Some of the puzzles are a bit ambiguous and will leave you scratching your head, but in the end you’ll have experienced another treasure of storytelling from the minds of a talented and dedicated smaller studio.

Charon’s Staircase is an intriguing horror experience that does well with lore and building moments. If more focus would have went into the graphical quality of the game, it would be an amazing title to playthrough. The voice-over, puzzle style, and environment were all well set up to present a story that deserved to be a bit more fleshed out (mostly in the introduction) than we got. It is a very solid game that is worth checking out if you get the chance.

Charon's Staircase es una declaración de intenciones que se queda a medio camino. Por un lado cuenta con una historia oscura que descubrimos a medida que avanzamos, sumado a la genial narración. Por otro lado, se queda corto en algunos aspectos como provocar sustos y sus gráficos desfasados, aunque con acertijos interesantes que nos harán sentir Sherlock Holmes.

Una aventura austera, con ciertos momentos curiosos, y con una ambientación correcta tanto de entornos como narrativa. Que sufre mucho en detalles técnicos y jugables que la hacen sentir antigua y más que superada en la actualidad. Un juego que solo los muy amantes del género se acercarán sabiendo buscar algo que les motive o les llene, ya que el resto de jugadores seguramente no terminen por disfrutar como otras obras mucho más potentes en todos los sentidos.

Charon's Staircase is a classic horror puzzle title with a thriller twist. It plays the part perfectly with cliched jump scares and a sinister atmosphere. However, its limited replay value and well-trodden mechanics leave you feeling underwhelmed.

Charon’s Staircase doesn’t exactly redefine the horror genre. It looks a bit rough, and its tried-and-tested gameplay doesn’t break any moulds. But the majority of its puzzles will keep you hooked, its story is interesting, and it absolutely nails creating a tense, horrifying atmosphere. That alone makes this a spooky adventure worth stepping into.

Charon’s Staircase can feel a bit like putting on a pair of comfy slippers, sipping some cocoa and kicking back with a good old-fashioned ghost story. But other moments frustrate, with some not-so-fun puzzles, brightness issues, and a familiar last act. The story may hook you and it’s certainly interesting to explore the world of Charon’s Staircase, but this doesn’t quite rise above the other games in this genre. 

Charon’s Staircase è al di sotto di quella “competizione” e, onestamente, non possiamo consigliarti di spendere gli oltre 30 euro che costa (sia in versione digitale che fisica, tra l’altro), a meno che il prezzo non scenda in futuro o tu non sia collezionista di tutti i giochi horror che vengono rilasciati, ovviamente. Per il resto, è meglio lasciarlo da parte, al momento, come se fosse propaganda del Ministero.

Un comparto tecnico davvero zoppicante ed approssimativo finisce per spezzare l'atmosfera tensiva di un gioco che, nonostante tutto, sembra in grado di offrire una cornice narrativa oscura ed intrigante, purtroppo appannata da una resa a schermo non sufficiente, che finisce per incrinare il patto di immedesimazione tra fruitore e mondo diegetico, alla base di produzioni appartenenti a questo specifico genere videoludico.

Una aventura con buenas intenciones y ganas de trasladarnos al terror clásico, pero que descarrila en lo técnico y en el diseño de varias pruebas. Necesitaba más testeo, claramente.

Confused puzzles, a convoluted story, poor use of lighting and no real scares makes Charon’s Staircase a good reason for taking the escalator instead.
